  1. It's scan day, it's scan day Need to get my arse in gear. Unfortunately my sickness returned big time yesterday and I had to take meds which wiped me out so if I have to take another one after the scan then OH will be driving me around Aberystwyth passed out with my tongue lolling out
  2. Not bothered at the moment, more preoccupied as to whether it'll be twins or not, as they're in both sides of the family Have to say if I see another ginger biscuit Ill think I'll take a chainsaw to it . I tried ginger tea but that made me throw up too. I am having rich tea biscuits and water before I get up in the morning at the moment, just as a precaution. Must be feeling a bit better as I've bought a packet of choccie biscuits. Not eaten chocolate for over a month. Not sure I'm brave enough to try them at the moment though, might just look at them
  3. Anyone fancy some trifle? Got a big bowl left from a function we had last night. I don't eat it and even Kev can't eat that much Seems wrong to throw it out but there's not a lot you can make out of trifle...
  4. Yikes, poor you! I have found a month of it unbearable so you must be a very strong person. I have a friend who was sick up until 6 months so I am prepared for it carrying on. It would be absolutely wonderful if it didn't come back, but I'm trying not to hope too much. Luckily despite eating so little I've lost less than 5% of my body weight which is manageable. Only four days from now and we'll have had our scan
  5. Thanks guys So far so good, no being sick yesterday and I feel okay, if very delicate today. Am concentrating on just keeping eating and drinking little bits at a time. We'll get there!
  6. I yam having a BABY I'm a bit pleased, can you tell ? I'm only 10 1/2 weeks at the moment, but it's the worst kept secret round here and today my mum confessed she's told about 40,000 people too! Bit of a long story, but essentially we wanted to start trying last year but someone mentioned the word tumour (boooooo ) and so activities ceased. First half of this year was all about biopsies and then removal of my bone tumour and because they were going to be scanning me regularly babies seemed to be years away But then we saw my consultant in August and he said because I have a metal plate in over the bone hole they can't start scanning until that is removed later next year. So, he says, if you want a baby go away and shag like bunnies (yes, he really is that blunt ) and make it happen within a year or so. I really thought there was no chance. I'm no spring chicken, hubby less so and we'd never tried before. But it has . I never normally ask for good thoughts for things but if you have any to spare please please ask this baby to stick around, I don't really have time on my side to make another Oh, and another thing. Whoever called it morning sickness should be slapped really hard. More like 24 hours a day sickness so bad that you can't eat or drink without turfing your stomach lining up into the toilet (sorry, bit graphic). I spent the last 24 hours on a sline drip in hospital because I was starving (literally) and dehydrated. That bit of pregnancy sucks and I want to start blooming now please! Anyhoo, there you go. First scan is on Thursday which is Immensely Exciting.
  7. Tis chilly and very wet here too. Happily I am tucked up on the sofa under a blanket enjoying a third night off in a row! Yes, we have changed to winter hours and now shut at 7pm on a Sunday not to reopen until 5.30pm on a Wednesday I know everyone else would call that a weekend but to us it's a hooge amount of time. I have had some lovely cuddles with my smelly soggy spaniel this afternoon who is currently ecstatic because he has had his equafleece finally taken off
  8. :flowers: Thank you for the thoughts, I am indeed lurking on occasion. I am doing okay. Cancer stuff is all okay for now and I'm getting on well with physio for my arm. Got some other stuff going on which fingers crossed will turn out good but we'll have to wait and see. WIll be back properly in a few weeks I expect, can't stay away too long
  9. He is a nice bloke who is in a difficult situation workwise at the moment and having to work very long hours, so I do have a lot of sympathy for him. He is misguided rather than careless I think. I had a chat with him the other day and he said he was horrified to learn the dogs were barking so much and was very pleased to have been told. He is now taking the westie out with him to the markets as he thinks he is starting of the newfie and they have been a lot quieter the last few days, so he might be onto something. He said himself he would look for someone to be on site more, and I mentioned it might only need to be someone coming in for an hour or taking them for a walk and he agreed it sounded sensible. There is no doubt he loves the dogs and though they are perhaps not the ideal dogs for him right now he is building a business that he runs frome in the longer term aim to be on site more and do less market work. As he's asked us to let him know whether the dogs settle down, and has also said that we can tell him anything (he asked if there was anything else he was doing that was not going down well) I'll take that as an invitation to say more in future.
  10. Thanks Mommy Bear I really do think it's lack of company and stimulation that is the problem. They have a huge yard to move around in while they are left but they spend all their time either standing by the gates and barking or lying in a big furry heap by the gates. Since the people are marketeers they leave very early in the morning and often aren't home until mid-late afternoon. Another neighbour had a word with him the other night on the 'not sure you're aware but the dogs are barking a lot when you're out and I thought they might be distressed' note and apparently it went in one ear and out the toerh. Thick skinned was their conclusion We've also learned that several other villagers are going crazy. Hopefully other people will mention it too. I don't know their condition up close but I am nervous about winter, as they live in a static caravan (albeit a big one) and I don't see them wanting the dogs in all the time (they regularly complain about how much mess the dogs make inside...what a surprise!). There are 5 family members, three dogs (2 newfies) and - oh joy - now also a parrot of some kind which I can hear sqwaking all bally day long He does know the dogs aren't getting enough attention or exercise, as he's said that to me.
  11. Thanks guys I am still waiting for the right time to mention this, but I think the approach your neighbour made Jules was what I was thinking of. Fingers crossed I wil pluck up the courage soon, though I don't know what they can do about it.
  12. I need a bit of advice on big breeds if poss Our relatively new neighbours across the way have 2 newfoundlands, one about 3 years and the other under a year. The neighbours are lovely people but are busy with work and out a lot. When they are out they mostly leave the dogs out in the yard behind big iron gates, which overlooks an open communal car park which then overlooks the centre of the village and our pub. The problem is the dogs bark, or at least the adult does. And she barks on and off pretty much all day long, and can certainly go non stop for an hour at a time. She's barking as I type this and its a BIG bark, echoing around our lovely hills and generally driving the village bonkers. Because they can see everything that happens in the car park and centre of the village they bark at every passer by, but also I think it's boredom and not liking being left. I am going to try to have a polite word with the owner, and am hoping he doesn't realise and will do something about it. I need to be careful about it as he is a neighbour and a customer and a good bloke who is generous to us so I don't want to go in heavy. My question is (in case it turns into a discussion about the dogs), how much exercise would a grown up and a pup newfoundland need respectively? I have no idea, but I very rarely see these dogs out and we are about the village most of the time. Do they need much stimulation or are they pretty passive in their needs? They seem to spend all their time when left lying by the gates watching the world go by. Any advice would be very welcome
  13. is it a green gage? Some of them are yellow and they are ripe now. If it is you can defo make puds and jam with them
  14. Morning Great news Suzeanna and Jazz, you sound much perkier today I have just waved hubby off for another driving lesson so have two hours to myself I am hitting the highlife with a cup of coffee, a very hairy spaniel who needs a haircut, a bowl of chicken (to bribe said hairy spaniel) and a film. DYlan will have to shift for himself
  15. How do You all seem very busy i am having a bit of trouble getting off my backside to do anything useful, and there's so much of it to do! i am also a bit :mecry:today because I have now got a date for my in-patient physio week but it's not until September 13th. I am so cack handed with my shoulder and can only work 3 nights a week and need the rest of the week to get over it. It's getting worse as I use it more because I'm using it all wrong. Sigh.
  16. I think I just microwaved my chocolate pudding instead of conventionally cooked it Ref weddings: we didn't even invite parents and they were fab about it (to my amazement). Wasn't because I didn't love them or like spending time with them, we just didn't want a big wedding.
  17. The votes I'm really worried about are the two who say they like both equally. I'm really not sure that's physically possible
  18. Wow - what a fabulous amount. COngratulations
  19. I am officially sad. I rashly donated half my dinner to OH on the basis that I didn't feel hungry and he said he was still starving. I am now ravenous and have a tiny amount of food He smarmed me by saying how delicious it was On a note. The entire physio department at my hospital seems to be on leave as I've had no date for my residential spa week (sorry, intensive physio stay) and cannot get hold of anyone. I can't go on holiday in summer and think it most unreasonable that anyone else does.
  20. Been thinking more about this today (sad, I know ) and I would like now not to change anything at all about RMF please, don't think the title matters. Tis a great place to get to know forum people as you get lots of little insights into their lives.
  21. I like RMF and think it is fine, but it is definitely misunderstood. A new name might help people know it;'s not always going to get you and answer to something. It is a sad day however when vegemite is even put in the same league as marmite, let alone the same sentence
  22. "You know, I told the boss if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys!" "Who are you calling a monkey? I'm an ape!"

Yes you can use hibiscrub on the inside. Dry crusty nose is definitely not a spaniel trait, maybe she's just a bit under the weather? If you're going to the vets ayway get their opinion.
