  1. I've had the help of a dog psychologist today thro the rescue black magic . I'm putting her advice into practice and its working very well with Henry, he's such a good boy, and less well with May. The idea is to make them feel safe and they need to know we are in charge so when we tell them they can go sit in their bed and chill when nexts door badly behaved dogs are barking and barking in the garden they can be confident there's nothing to be stressed or frightened by. Owl we are still getting people driving here for hours to walk for hours on the fells. Police turn some back but they don't get them all. We've even got tourists wandering about in town 😱🤬🤬so I'm sure a trip to the reserve is not breaking the rules.
  2. Henry & May had a very comfy night on my bed. Me not so much. They are very sweet and loving but May has forgotten her house training after being in kennels for 3 months. We have some work to do, especially with next doors dogs being left out for long periods and barking and lunging at them behind the fence. May is fixated on them and just won't toilet out there. Henry is fine, they don't particularly bother him and he poops and pees out there no bother. The rescue are sending harnesses, I've ordered then new collars and a new seatbelt extension each for use with their harnesses. I'm really hoping the local dog boarding facilities hasn't gone under as I'd love to rent their enclosed paddock for some zoomies and games.
  3. So very sorry to hear the sad news Owl 😥😥 Your poor friend must be in bits 💔💔💔 We are thinking about her. Fosters are on the road and due about 2pm.
  4. They are complete and utter idiots. They must know someone high up in government as they obviously have special dispensation as lockdown and social distancing does not apply to them.
  5. I've left a Letter Of Wishes expressly stating that I do not want a funeral. My family all know and if they go against my wishes I'll be back to haunt them! That's excellent forward thinking of your grandson blackmagic 👍 Its dawn chorus here every morning too - and most of the day. I was in the garden the other day talking to my neighbour in hers and we couldn't hear each other for the birds!
  6. Aw Audrey. We are thinking of her & sending healing thoughts ❤ Poor Cleo. Quite a catalogue of disasters. Suzeanna Tye came with his blankie, Kong, toys & treats because he'd been a beloved pet but I'm afraid the next 2 have nothing. They are currently in boarding kennels which the rescue have been struggling to pay for during lockdown. There is a lovely Orvis bed on the rug in front of the fire waiting for them with Tye's original blankie in it. A whole sofa just for them, leads and some toys which I doubt they will know what to do with. There's also another big squishy bed with a blankie each in my bedroom and loads of treats in the cupboards so very soon they will have their own stuff bless them.
  7. Rescues can move dogs, Defra relaxed the rules due to welfare issues the other week following a campaign by the RSPCA. Poor Audrey, I hope she pulls through and makes a good recovery. George cost me a fortune at the vets but Archie ailed nothing other than his acid reflux which only got really bothersome at the end of his life even though he'd had it since he was a pup.
  8. I've got the dog food all ready Suzeanna, same hypoallergenic as the boy is already on and little lass is on Harringtons. It's a feeding stand that I ordered from Zooplus but it was dog food they sent! I've had notification just this evening that they've sent the replacement stand out but I feel they should have sent it sooner and it took me getting shirty with them to get it sent out BEFORE they received the dog food back. We had a right job of sealing the box up with the food in as we'd run out of parcel tape but fortunately I found a roll of duct tape which should hold it. Parcelforce are collecting it on Monday. Urrgghh for the person picking his nose with gloves on! Our neighbour went shopping the other day and saw a man eating crisps with the gloves on he'd worn to do his shopping!
  9. The foster pups will be arriving on Monday 😁👍
  10. And now I have just had another request from Zooplus to describe the item that was sent in error or take a photo. I already did this yesterday! This might be my last ever order from them as they are really trying my patience. Griff very wise move to get the masks as I am sure we will be advised to wear them soon. There are a number of videos on YouTube showing you how to make a mask from a headscarf or large bit of material like a bandana which I have found interesting. We both have reusable washable masks but you never know - we might need an extra one.
  11. I have to package the 14kg bag of food up to send back to Zooplus. It sounds like they aren't planning on sending my feeding stand until they take delivery of the returned food. I've told them I expect it to be sent out before then. I'm not amused. A neighbour further along the street has died of Covid-19 😱 She was elderly with underlying health issues but we are all still shocked. She was a really nice lady.
  12. I've used Zooplus for years so I know it's just a mistake but I chose them over other companies selling the same thing cheaper so I could get it faster. I wanted it here in time for the pupsters arrival. On that front we've not heard anything but when we got Tye we only found out he would be coming the day before he arrived.
  13. I ordered another feeding stand from Zooplus, They delivered it today. Or rather they didn't. Inside the box was a 14kg of Proplan dog food I've asked them to rectify their mistake by sending my feeding stand and arranging pick up of the bag of food. I'll bet the wrong labels have been put on two different boxes and someone somewhere has got a feeding stand instead of the expected bag of dog food!
  14. Showery here this morning and chilly. Are you all looking forward to a long weekend? What are you going to do with your extra day off 😂😂😂
  15. Have hairdressers been given the nod to open and you've all taken off to get your hair done? Much colder day here and nothing but grey skies. No rain yet but it's threatening.
  16. Great news Owl 👍 Eve you never know! It will depend on how the dogs get on here and if we can handle them. They've had no training, have never been walked and have no idea what a lead is or what they should do when a lead goes on. The first week or so probably won't involve walks. We'll let them decompress and feel safe. We'll get them used to leads going out into the garden. Having a house and garden to run round in will be a refreshing change, we hope, to spending day after day squashed into a crate - mum, dad and daughter. We are having dad & daughter and they are very bonded. Mum had started being aggressive towards them so went off to another rescue. We would never be the cause of these two being parted unless their behaviour toward each other changes for the worst.
  17. Morning. Lovely day here tho chilly out of the sun. I went down to the churchyard for my walk around it which is a good way to get my exercise. I was really suprised at the amount of traffic on the roads compared to previous weeks. People too! Way more people. The foster dogs should be here this week. Transport is arranged but they are trying to fit another dog in for drop of on the way to save on trips. We are going to have to go to our storage unit to get the dog gear out. Last time we went it was en-route to Ruby's hospital appointment but we are feeling guilty as we are going to have to make a special trip just for the dog stuff.
  18. Karen Tik Tok is owned by a Chinese company. The Chinese don't generally have a good record on the LGBTQ front, although it is starting to change. Not such a nice day here, very overcast and much cooler. Looks like the coming week is no better - and maybe worse as rain is forecast from mid week. There are tourists starting to turn up in alarming numbers! Obviously not the hordes we are used too but we are still in lockdown so there shouldn't be any!
  19. Karen yes Booth's is a northern supermarket chain. They are probably on a par with Waitrose. We find them a bit expensive but the quality & freshness of produce is very good - fruit & veg, meat, deli counter produce etc..
  20. I won't use Tik Tok due to their ban on pro-LGBTQ content. It's been a nice warm day today but cloudy so we've had very little sun.
  21. Morning all. It's another cracking day here. Sainsbury's are delivering this morning. I've ordered dog food and treats from Amazon for the fosters although we've had no word yet as to when they'll get here. The boy has a skin condition so I've ordered some of the same hypoallergenic food for him he's on in the kennels.
  22. It was the usual great effort here with the clapping last night. I used an old pan with a wooden spoon as clapping hurts my shoulder. Our neighbour had a little bell to shake. We've always had someone blowing a horn but didn't know quite where. Last night they decided to blow it from a bedroom window so we spotted them & waved at the end.
  23. The rescue are trying trying to organise transport to get our next fosters to us. 2 Staffies, dad and daughter. Not had a good life, we are going to evaluate them and let them decompress as well as learn how to be dogs. They are 10 and 2.
  24. Oooh I like the sound of that suncream Suzeanna. Unfortunately our nearest Aldi is in the next town over, Cockermouth, 13 miles away. I'll get some at some point though! I was only sitting out for a few minutes when I realised I was burning yesterday so put my lounger in the shade. How is everyone coping with their hair? My usual 6 week cut should have been done yesterday so my hair is starting to lose its style and shape. I think getting a hair appointment after the hairdressers are allowed to open will be a challenge in itself!
  25. I'm sitting here listening to Mozart and trying not to get wound up by people acting irresponsibly and selfishly but they do make my blood boil. I've got a home delivery for Saturday from Sainsburys and just looked in again to see the availability and the next 3 days are full of slots. Obviously that's for here and I do have priority. Gorgeous day here again and the wind has dropped so we'll be able to sit in the garden this afternoon. Someone was made to pack up & go from a holiday house in town yesterday. They arrived on Monday much to the disgust of the neighbours who reported them to the police. I don't think people realise Cumbria has the most cases of Covid-19 after London and think they are going to escape the virus here. We don't need them bringing more cases with them either.
