  1. Tye had sickness and a dire rear last night poor lad. I didn't feed him breakfast this morning but around 10.30 he let me know he wanted something to eat. I gave him half a tray of his Harringtons. He wolfed it down, went out for a wee and half hearted run up and down the dividing fence with Toff, the Yorkshire terror, next door before coming back in and putting himself to bed. Around mid-day he ate the rest of the tray of meat with a bit of dried Harringtons but returned to bed. He's mostly slept so far today, very peacefully, but has shown no desire to go for a walk so we are staying put today. He's started using George's steps to get in and out of the car and on and off my bed.
  2. The one that has upset me is the poor American Bulldog, Smiler, in Keighley Yorkshire and her bastard bloody owner, a 50 year old man. I won't list what he did with that poor dog, it's too upsetting. Smiler is still alive, will hopefully recover and get a fabulous home where she will be loved, cherished and looked after. Her owner has been banned from keeping animals for life and got 16 weeks in prison. They should have done to him what he did to Smiler. On a happier note Sardine Sunday is a big hit in our house. Tye loves his sardine topped dinner like no other meal.
  3. It's a nice day here, cold but dry and sunny. If you are eating or about to eat - WARNING! I had to bin my lovely sheepskin slippers this morning after going to clean up after Tye and stepping in poo I hadn't seen. It squashed right up the sides and was in the grooves of the sole and just too gross to try cleaning.
  4. Suzeanna if you want some Tenalady's I can send you a couple of packets. I accidently bought a box of them rather than one packet. Don't ask.
  5. That was a lovely post Eve. You are a lovely, kind, generous person. Mr Tye has gone for a walk with Ruby whilst I wait in for our Sainsburys delivery. She's going to the storage unit afterwards to put the xmas stuff back and bring George's steps back for Tye. He's struggling to get on my bed and is currently using my laundry basket full of clean clothes to step up! He also needs a helping hand to get into the car but I'm struggling to do that.
  6. Ruby and I were just saying how life can be so unfair to good people. Someone she works with lost her best friend to cancer about 18 months ago. This friend's son & his wife had a baby 8 months ago, which brought them much joy after their loss. Now the baby's just died from a malignant brain tumour ๐Ÿ˜ฅ Then I have good friends whose daughter has twice had to have brain surgery due to an aneurysm. She's only in her 20's. The whole family are lovely, lovely people and real animal lovers and advocates. Dad was recently sent for a scan after getting headaches he thought was stress over his daughters latest surgery. It turns out he has an aneurysm too. In fact he's just found out today he has not one but two. He's now got to have surgery and there's no guarantee he'll come through it. The other daughter is going to have to be scanned too as its likely their condition is hereditary. It is so not a fair world ๐Ÿ˜ฅ
  7. Griff she's doolally. Next time I see her it's just as likely she will be accusing us of something. I just try to have as little to do with her as possible. Are you going to be a medical mystery? You might get written up in the BMJ! Can I have your autograph?
  8. Ah that sounds like impingement Jazz. I've had that on one of my shoulders. It's turned into an awful day. I am very glad that Tye and I got out on our walk early'ish and at least stayed dry. My not so nice neighbour is smitten with Tye! She told me today he's a proper little gentleman and said "he's found himself the best home ever, the lucky boy". I was a bit gobsmacked as we've had so much trouble with her in the past. I was gracious back in my best Queen Mother mode. I'm making coffee. Does anyone want one?
  9. It's impossible Suzeanna. Whenever I stray from my usual haunts I can almost guarantee I'll come down with something. My brother and sis-in-law have been this morning. Tye was delighted when my brother sat on his sofa with him and he snuggled in tight. He also gave my brothers neck a good wash. One of our half brothers has visited the solicitors trying to get our father's will sorted so he can get his money. I wouldn't ever lower myself to those sort of antics. The more I see of people the more my need for an island to myself.
  10. Good luck Griff. Oooh those crisps will taste soooooo good after your fast.
  11. At least you know now Jazz. It's very cold here. I got chilled when I took Tye to the doggy hotel for his off-lead run in their paddock and haven't felt properly warm since. I'm not a 100% sure how they will get our old fridge freezer out and the new one in. When the old was delivered originally I seem to remember it only just squeezing in through the back door. It was when we had the new kitchen/bathroom extension done and the door didn't yet have it's frame fitted, never mind have a door on!
  12. Eve we saw on the news that Flybe have been rescued so now we just hope they are still going in May! I hope your car goes thro its MOT tomorrow. I'm getting worried now about where Tye will be going whilst we are away. We told the rescue before agreeing to foster him that we would be away on holiday and they said they would arrange a holiday foster for him but what if no one can do it? Archie's dog walker gave up home boarding after she had started a family so she's not an option. Such a shame as Archie used to love his holidays with her. I'm taking Tye up to the doggy hotel tomorrow for an off-lead session in their paddock. I really don't want him going into kennels but I'm going to scope it out just in case.
  13. Oh heck Griff what a state of affairs. There's no sense in bringing any law in if it's not policed. Like the microchip requirement. Why the hell didn't they make it a requirement of every vets practice to automatically check all chips? I'll bet they would have found a few missing dogs that way.
  14. That's a good mechanic you've got Owl. Mine is like that. I agree with Griff, it is nice to hear of a garage doing the right thing instead of fleecing customers. I am confused by the rules over walking dogs off-lead within a town and along side busy roads. According to the 1988 Road Traffic Act is a criminal offence to walk a dog on a designated road, that is a public road, without a lead. Yet it seems if a local authority hasn't issued a PSPO then it's OK. There isn't a PSPO covering our town. I think it is the height of irresponsibility to walk your dog without a lead next to a road. I don't care how well trained people claim their dogs are, you cannot discount the unexpected. If those owners really cared for their dogs welfare they wouldn't even contemplate it. An off-lead dog in town ran in front of Ruby a few years back after a car back-fired and she fell down hurting her hand. It still gives her twinges to this day. The owner just disappeared, didn't even help her up.
  15. Thanks Suzeanna, the trouble is Flybe is the only airline with flights from Newcastle to Southampton. We fly back with BA into Heathrow and are booked on onward flights to Newcastle with BA, so unless they go under, we should be all right with that leg. Ruby booked the Flybe flights with her debit card and not her credit card so we cannot claim the cost back from the CC company. I'll certainly tell her to look into cancelling the flights and seeing if she can get something back. Eve I think that's the crux of the problem. The town council are the trustees of the park and they have no one to police it. The park keepers, who are essentially just gardeners, are not there all the time but when they are they don't say anything. Knowing a couple of them I did ask once if they ever tried to enforce the rules and they said it wasn't in their job description but anyway they weren't paid enough to stand having arguments with people. I can't say I blame them. Whenever I do point out the on-lead rule to people letting their dogs run lose I more often than not get abuse. Roll on our house move! We are finally hoping to get the estate agents in a couple of weeks time. I am pleased to announce the attic is now empty, the de-cluttering is almost complete and apart from the problem of trying to keep the place looking clean and tidy with a big dog running in and out with wet muddy feet and disguising the emanations from his bum, we should be good to go.
  16. We got a visit by Brendan. I managed to get Tye walked this morning before the worst weather blows in. I don't know whether to complain to our park trust about people not complying with the on-lead requirement in one section of our park. I don't want to trigger a complete dog ban, that's the opposite of what I want, but I do fear that that is what will happen anyway as more and more owners ignore the rule - including a local councillor! However it's not fair on the dog owners who use this section in order to avoid off-lead dogs. Mmmm what to do, what to do??
  17. I hope Axel gives himself up soon. Bloody hell fire Flybe is on the brink of collapse and we have paid for flights booked with them to get us to Southampton in May โ˜นโ˜น
  18. Thanks for the up-date Suzeanna. If you are in touch with her again please let her know I was asking after her. Alex we've only had Tye for 5 weeks and we've been told he doesn't care for other dogs in his home (just like Archie!) So far Tye hasn't had a lot of interaction with other dogs other than to brief on-lead greetings. He does seem to like Holly dog from next door but they only meet through the fence. The rescue he came from doesn't want him going off-lead in other than a secure area as they've had their fingers burned in the past leading to a lot of heartache. So taking all that into account, plus Tye's age, we wouldn't be able to do a walk like we did when you were here with Steph but we could do a short one followed by a visit to a dog friendly pub or cafรฉ if that appeals to you at all?
  19. I pay ยฃ15 for a cut and blow dry. Bargain. Alex you gave it a good go with Lily and I am sure you didn't make the decision to re-home her lightly. We now have Tye on permanent foster. He's a 12 year old Staffie x What a day it is here weather wise. It's blowing a hooley. Nice one Owl with regards to the flowering plant. Eve I hope your dog sitter is available if it comes to it. Has anyone heard from Blackmagic? I was just wondering how she's going on.
  20. I mean this in the nicest possible way Griff but you are 40 going on 14! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I had quite forgotten about this until I got an email this morning reminding me that it's 4 years since I became an ordained minister. Not bad for a life long atheist! It's really quite ridiculous isn't it that you can be ordained in about 3 minutes flat on the internet. P.S I'm available for christening, weddings and funerals.
  21. Yes I can confirm what Owl says about the Express. They are always making outlandish forecasts.
  22. Very interesting Griff to read a bit about your work experiences. Glad the Owl mobile passed the MOT ๐Ÿ‘ The weather was atrocious for our walk this morning but we had an exciting time as Tye went off-lead for the first time! He was such a good boy. At 12 he's not interested in running about and just enjoyed a bimble, always making sure that I was not far away.
  23. Very wise to have a day at home Owl. Tye and I got our walk in this morning just before the heavens opened. I had planned a short street walk for this afternoon but we'll can that I think. It's miserable out there. I hope the van goes through the MOT without problems or expensive repairs needing done.
  24. Ruby got her Amazon Prime account hacked and some robbing $%^"!&* ordered almost ยฃ80 worth of downloaded films, mainly kids stuff over the last week or so. Cutting a long story short after contacting Amazon they refunded all the money. They were able to tell her the breach had happened via her Amazon Firestick and that they could tell she hadn't downloaded the films but although they could see someone else had they are unable to locate a physical address. She's changed her passwords and will do so more regularly now. Just beware folks if you do have a firestick it's liable to being hacked! Have strong passwords and change them often.
  25. After the Falklands War there was a Victory Parade in London. I went down with my pal Gary and another friend. We got ourselves a great viewpoint close to the Bank Of England. All the crowd barriers were up and lots of busy people and officials scurrying around. Gary stopped a passing policeman and asked him what time the parade started. The officer replied "12.00 noon but you'll have a long wait". We asked why feeling puzzled as it wasn't far off 12.00. The officer then told us "12 noon TOMORROW." Doh! Did we feel stupid ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ So Owl you are in good company!
