  1. What a character Wispa is! One minute the sky is blue and then just like that it's grey. Wait a couple of minutes more and there you go it's back to blue. Is everyone keeping well? This Covid-19 is a worry. Aaahh pneumatic drills just started up outside although I still don't know what the hell is going on.
  2. It's a beautiful day here! Blue skies & the sun is out although it is still a bit nippy. Our road is closed today and tomorrow. I have no idea why. We only got to know last week when metal signs were put in place at both ends. I see there are now police cones down the opposite side. My car and several others are still parked this side. Tye's ashes are setting off on the journey back to Essex today. The family have said they'll take a photo of his last resting place so I can put it in his memorial box with his collar. We do miss him. He was a huge presence in our lives 💔💔
  3. I bought some tickets in Tye's name in his rescues monthly bonus ball draw and he won! £60 which was donated back to them as they were the only ones to step up and help him. A bit blowy here but at least we have some patches of blue sky.

Owl it started with heavy rain here about 2 or 3 hours ago. The forecast at one time said we'd get some high winds but so far its not too bad at all. Just the occasional gust. I hope your stormy weather doesn't cause any problems.

I'm glad you got home safely Eve but that was a mammoth journey especially with all the hold-ups. Rest up this weekend. Our nutty neighbour has just called to say how sorry she was about us losing Tye after another neighbour told her about it. She commented that we gave him a great home for his final weeks and please get another rescue Staffy when we are ready. Next time I see her she will probably blank me. That's what's she's like.

If Ruby has to have surgery we may not be able to go because she won't be allowed to fly. Thank you Owl 👍

Thanks Griff. I hope Steve gets some help. You can't just leave mental health problems to fester. Ruby & I had a walk down town just to stretch our legs. We got birthday cards for a friend and an acceptance to his 60th birthday bash - in New York! We won't send the acceptance card until we know what's what with Ruby though.

Griff I remember this kid plaguing the life out of me to dance with him in a nightclub many, many years ago. It turned out I used to babysit him! We picked Tye's ashes up today. He's going back to Essex to either be scattered or buried alongside his dad. I'm going to get a box, the same as George & Archie's, for his collar, the card from the crem and a photo of his final resting place. Ruby has an appointment at the breast clinic in Carlisle at 8.20am on Tuesday. That will mean an early start! Following a mammogram and other possible tests they'll tell her the results the same day. Another stormy weekend forecast I see. I hope everyone doesn't suffer any damage from the high winds.

Jazz you are not supposed to take that many cocodamol! How do you cope with the constipation? We were in Newcastle yesterday as Ruby had a follow up to her 6 monthly scan. She's waiting for an appointment from the specialist breast clinic in Carlisle now as something abnormal was picked up by the scanner. Hopefully it'll just be a cyst or something that's not worth worrying about. Ooh glad you got the teeth sorted Owl. Sounds like the broken tooth/nerve would have been very painful.

A Jacksie? As long as there are stupid people around to pay over silly amounts of money for dogs like this the unscrupulous idiots that breed them will continue with their money making schemes. No integrity. No care for the welfare and best interests of the dogs. I do have to wonder if the buyers genuinely want to have a dog or just a thing they can dress up to carry around as an accessory and have as prop for Instagram photos. Grrrrrr.

I'd just like to say a big thank you to Griff who sent us a beautiful bouquet yesterday. Griff you are so kind and thoughtful. Ruby and I were most touched when it arrived. Thank you. Suzeanna thank you for your message. You are right. I believe that will happen. Thank you all. It takes another dog lover to truly know what you go through when we loose our pups.

It's me Suzeanna. I joined under an old nickname so I could keep up with the rescue who are very FB focused. I didn't want family & friends wanting to friend me as I don't want to read their political views or see pictures of their dinner. I'm only friends with people associated with the rescue or the rescue world. I'm happy to add folk here but I don't post personal stuff, just dog rescue and welfare stuff. We are devastated over losing Tye. It all happened so suddenly and here we are again with an empty house. We have cried buckets today. Thank you all for your kindness. Normal service will be resumed soon.

Griff it seems to be that its more common in elderly Staffies than other breeds and it comes and goes. It can turn into Laryngeal Paralysis though.

I wouldn't care if I never saw a potato again. Although I do like chips! I don't care for champagne either but loved that you quaffed it as a remedy to overindulgence Eve. Well our boiler has failed and won't re-ignite. After being with British Gas Homecare for years and never having called them out we expected to have an engineer out today but no. We are left without heating until tomorrow. Any bets they'll cancel that due to overwhelming demand because of Storm Dennis?? Fortunately we have an electric convector heater which is keeping the sitting room toasty. In fact we've had to turn it down as it got too hot! The rest of the house is freezing though. Tye isn't feeling too well. His cough has come back and his appetite has gone missing. He's wrapped up in blankies in his bed and sleeping peacefully though so we'll see how he goes. He flat out refused to go for a short walk this morning in the nasty rain, despite his warm, padded, waterproof coat so I'd be hard pressed to get him into the car to visit the vet in Cockermouth. I hope everyone is staying warm, dry and safe.

I forgot to mention that Tye got a lovely Valentine card this morning which said he was the best looking lad in town. It was from his two girlfriends, Toff and Holly next door ❤❤❤

Owl will be able to locate the mice by the smell of their onion breath 😂 Ruby's made a decision and it is the Citroen C3 Aircross. She's got permission to keep her company car until it's ready, which will be sometime in March. She will still have £220 of her allowance every month to put towards running and maintenance costs Plus the car will be hers to keep in just over 3 years. She also thinks I will like driving it as I hate that bloody Audi and refuse to drive it at all now. We got some heavy rain earlier and I thought "oh hello Storm Dennis" but it's currently dry and all is calm - at least for now!

I'll tell her that Griff. She's just had a VW T-roc out on a test drive but wasn't impressed by it. Her company car has to go back at the end of this month. Suzeanna yes that's true. You can actually die from drinking too much water! With Ruby though she knows she hasn't always been as good as she should be with her water intake. Often too busy and distracted at work.

Nice one Owl 👍 Ruby's off to buy a car today. She's narrowed it down to a Citroen C3, a Mazda and a VW but I forget which models. She's favouring the C3 purely on the price. She gets a monthly allowance in lieu of the company car she's giving up but doesn't want to spend it all on the purchase price. She needs to hold something back to cover insurance and maintenance. Another storm blowing in for the weekend. Deep joy. Yes blackmagic Eve is right, if you are looking in we are thinking of you xx Suzeanna Ruby had her 6 monthly scan on Tuesday and goes back for the results two weeks from the scan date. Her remaining kidney isn't functioning at 100% so she needs to make more adjustments to her diet and drink even more water than she does. Its lovely of you to ask especially with your own situation. We both hope the medication makes a difference for you. It sounds like you have a really nice specialist.

Suzeanna I am holding out for the doctor being wrong! If not, you do research your condition really well so we can all be sure you will make an informed decision on your treatment. Positive thoughts are being sent thro the ether to you from my end anyway. I haven't said anything here, or anywhere else for that matter, but there's things awry with my biological father's will. I am due something from it but I cannot say more than that for now. However the legal sorting out of it all might take up to 6 years! Griff I hope the same won't be true for Steve. And just as we were due to call in the estate agents next week a nasty water stain has appeared on Ruby's bedroom ceiling after last weekend's storm. It'll have to be sorted before we put the house up for sale. I'm starting to wonder myself if we'll ever get moved.

I took some books to a local animal charity shop Suzeanna and they didn't want them. They could only sell chick lit and thrillers. No market for decent literature ☹ I took them to Oxfam who were thrilled with them but then they are a national organisation with many shops and an online book selling service. Aw that's nice of you Griff to keep Molly in toys and nice girlie things. Eve our old dogwalkers turn out whatever the weather. They just change the walks to areas they can get too ok, even if its only the local park where they will play games with the dogs.

That's not fair Suzeanna about the bus fare not being free before 9.30. Obviously due to the commuter traffic but I bet most folk with the card wouldn't plan to travel during such a busy time if they didn't absolutely have too. Ruby's had to go to Newcastle today for another 6 monthly scan. Back in 2 weeks time for the results. Tye and I had a 4.2 mile walk today down to the lake and round about. Bloody hell but it was perishing. I'd insisted Tye wore his coat, he flat out refused yesterday, and I am sure he was very glad I had. The wind has got up even worse this afternoon and I switched the heating back on at 2 - normally it doesn't come on until 4. Tye's auntie Jan and uncle Vince came to see him today as we keep walking past their house and Tye wants to go in every time but they are usually out. He was very excited to see them, although he did fall asleep beside uncle Vin after about a half-hour. And he started snoring! I hope Wispa got out OK for her sniffing opportunity and that Owl caught up with friends at the reserve. I don't mind being a hermit and try my best every day to avoid people when I am out and about.

Morning all. Still wet & windy here but not as bad as the weekend. Trying to think where to take Tye for a walk which is away from trees as sudden gusts of wind have been sending branches flying and in some cases uprooting or snapping trees. I'd really prefer to stay put but Tye enjoys his walk and it does me good, especially with aiding the weight loss. 5-and-half stones lighter now. Eve we've been on The Rest and be Thankful road a few times. Your son did well getting home safely.

Well done Owl. It stopped raining here about an hour-and-a-half ago so our garden drain has drained away. It actually came out quite bright at one time but the skies have greyed over again and the wind has picked up since then. The rugby club pitch is under water and the clubhouse has flooded. The football pitch is also under water and they have put the flood-boards in place and moved furniture as a precaution. I've not heard of anywhere else getting flooded. The Keswick to Ambleside road is closed however as some parts are impassable due to flooding. I hope everyone else is safe and dry and not having problems with the weather.

I'm glad you are driving a 4x4 Owl. Safe journey. It's bad here. The river is very high, lapping the top of the bank in the park. Everyone is waiting with bated breath to see if it breaks anywhere. Our garden drain has backed up and the water is lapping at the door. Just hoping the rain stops soon. Or if the river breaks anywhere it will allow this water to drain - but likely at someone else's expense 😥 Tye wouldn't go out for a wee even after I put his coat on for him. Ruby's had to get togged up and take him for a short walk so he can do what a dog needs to do!
