  1. Found out last night one of my old teachers at school has cancer and its taken a turn for the worse, reading between the lines he doesnt have much longer left. one of my old school friends added me to a face book group set up, in under a week over 4000 messages from old pupils have been posted which just goes to show how much he influenced generations of kids, he was one of my favorites too
  2. torrential rain here yesterday for about 30 minutes, then it stopped as soon as it started my part of cheshire is dry at the mo but looks threatening !!!
  3. Simister Island is nightmare am so glad I dont go anywhere near the M60 to get to work and back. Mind you we are surrounded by temporary traffic lights all round us as new housing is being built, the SEMMS road construction and pothole repairs aplenty so getting out of the village and back can be a pain in the buttocks
  4. It is illegal, the latest version of the animal welfare act makes it an offence, I point it out to various owners I see doing the same, they are none to happy about it either, and I reserve my best "well if you dont f###ing do something about it I will report you" for the ones that turn nasty. I make a point of telling out lovely PCSO's the info to, none of which are aware it is an offence. We had snow here saturday too, was gone by sunday lunch time though, Cliffy not overly pleased as he has very low tackle that ploughs through the snow, but he is a good boy and does go though.
  5. Its pretty easy really, easiest of all are the kits and can be nice tasting, especially if you buy some additional hops and add them in, next up is extract brewing, similar to kits but slightly more involved, after that its using all grains and steeping in hot water for an hour (63 degrees C to be exact) then boiling with hops, the most important bit is steralising everything to an OCD level or it wil spoil. Aww so sorry to hear this its heartbreaking isnt it. big hugs for Timmy hope its something and nothing as they say. When Poppy went off her food I gave her cheese, tuna and chicken, all at the same time smooshed up, she loved it! Not much to report, Cliffy update is I popped him in the bed last night, got in, he snuggled up to me then 10 minutes later decided he prefered in the bed rather than on it, and he snores !!
  6. it does sound like you may need to clear the air, and if that doesnt work then the only choice may be to let rip, either way they should be left in no doubt what they are doing is wrong, can you call up the vet and tell them what diet he is on. anyways a big for you for Timmy too. Nothing to report here that I can think of, Cliffy is doing well and hogging most of the bed at night. Oh I made some beer yesterday so have that on the go, fingers crossed its ready in about 6 weeks or so. Thats all - carry on !
  7. Hi all, hope you had a nice time of it, very windy and lots of rain for the last couple days here Before I forget its Cliffy birthday today so a happy birthday to my sometimes grumpy but a very snuggly 14 yo daddys boy I cant post pics here at work but will try when I get home this afternoon, failing that I can whatsapp his pic to someone and some kind soul on here can post them for me as my PC struggles to load them sometimes.
  8. I wont be on tomorrow or over Christmas so everyone have a safe happy one
  9. Hi all Merle Have you tried Namaste in Didsbury, its diagionally oppoiste the Metropolitan, place looks a bit rundown (well it did the last time I was there a couple years back) but excellent food as its Nepalese, as is the Gurkha a few doors down (same people own both). Umm not a lot to report, bah humbug to Christmas, and Cliffy is just fine. Oh I got my AC/DC ticket for the Ethihad in June of next year, the band is like a bus I waited 20 years to see them now seeing them twice in 11 months
  10. Is that the one you're determinded to take a plus one to same here just me n Cliffy so no tree no decs no christmas lunch, prob a chille or a spag bol for me !
  11. The security people in Canada couldn't have been nicer. Greeting us with warm welcomes and smiles, and the chap with the sniffer dog politely asked (asked not told or demanded) could we possibly lower our backpacks etc to the dogs level as he was only an ickle spaniel, needless to say he got a lot of fuss and attention and nobody minded the queue wasnt moving very much depite a 9 hour flight The dog not the man i mean
  12. for you Griff Woke up this morning Cliffy had crawled under the duvet; stuck his head on the other pillow and was flat out asleep the cheeky monkey. He was lovely and warm too !
  13. Bloody hell your dogs can ride !! what bikes were they, Boxers I'll get my coat..
  14. took Cliffy out for his usual walk last night, lots of fireworks going off all around, and a major display just down the road in the next village, all Cliffy wanted to do was find the best spot for a wee; get home have his tea then snuggle up close on the sofa; he is such a daddys boy! Am glad I have a bullet proof dog, no doubt there will be more tonight and the mahoosive one in the village tomorrow, I have taken him before he quite likes it. shoulder is getting better, need to crack on with making some more chutney this weekend as stirring is good therapy
  15. I will post some if I get a chance, am at work at the mo on lunch and all my pics are either on my PC at home or my phone so once i figure out how to do it I will if I can
  16. Sam hope you feel better soon here a big for you. not much to report really, my frozen shoulder has been muchly sorted by a friend who is a trained massage therapist and found I had torn my shoulder muscle in several places, lots of painfull stretches; pummelling and other contortionist type movements it feels so much better a lot free'er and looser to move around, however it aches like buggery today; the cost? A couple of cups of tea and some home made jam; chutney and a bottle of home brew beer that makes great gravy or sauce if used in a stew (beers crap though if you drink it) Boiler getting very intermittent showers need to be 90 seconds or under or the water goes really cold and it doesnt ignite again, same goes for the central heating, so I called the plumber who installed it 13 odd years ago to ask him to replace it as it has had a hard life, not only did he remember me, the boiler and house but the fact I have a (slightly) nutty neighbour - which was nice Cliffy all good and looking very handsum, he got mistaken for a puppy the other day which was funny as he can be a grumpy old man at times. Thats all, carry on !
  17. yeay lurgy 99% gone so no longer doing this everywhere but my whisky bottle took a heavy hit over the weekend though!
  18. Good news Suzeanna !! bleurrghhg have the plague at the mo so have felt better but am slowly improving. PS its the PLAGUE, not man flu OK ! just saying lol..

  20. this weekend sees the last flying Vulcan making its farewell tour so I will be watching it tomorrow as it flies within a mile of my house. they were all built at Woordford which is just down the road from where I am. after that its picking as much of my Damson crop as I can freeze ready to make jam chutenys wine and gin, not neccesarily in that order of course. oh and Cliffy was sound asleep head on the pillow all tucked in the bed (my bed) when i woke up; cheeky monkey !
