  1. We would not normally become involved in another rescue's rehoming policy as mentioned earlier. All rescues have a duty of care to rehome the animal handed to them to a safe and suitable environment. Sending family pets and ex farm dogs to another "rescue" who state on their own website that no homecheck will be carried out is irresponsible, especially as these dogs are not being neutered or microchipped prior to rehoming. As this particular outfit also has a breeding licence it causes grave concern about the outcome of these dogs. Ty Agored stated in their newsletter that they were contacted and asked if they had any border collies, when they said that they did and the "rescue" concerned said that it could take 6 straight away would it not have caused alarm bells to ring. How many other "rescues" could take in 6 dogs unless an absolute emergency i.e. pts just like that. Any rescue that can rehome 6 border collies within a week must know something that the rest of us don't. The rescues in Wales and in other parts of the country spend a lot of time trying to get dogs OUT of puppy farms not send them to one. To answer the point about Trustees being aware, unfortunately they are not kept informed resulting in two of them resigning due to matters not related to this particular instance. Every reputable rescue can hold their heads high knowing that they have done everything possible for the wellbeing of the animals in their care, it is a pity that not everyone is striving to the same end. On a personal note, it breaks my heart to think that someone's family pet (or any dog for that matter) could be confined to a tiny kennel and bred from until they are of no further use, see it from the dog's view, bars, noise, fear, having litter after litter of pups and then discarded, no day to day love, affection or stimulation, they talk about human rights what about an animals right to a decent life. I have had a dalmation from a puppy farm and it took months and months of hard work and love to get her to understand that she was safe. Sorry I have had my rant, just trying to make a difference in the best way I know how. D
  2. Max is a lovely boy who had a really bad coat when he came into rescue and had to be shaved by the Vet. His coat is beginning to grow back but he does look a bit of a sorry sight. He has spent most of his life chained up and it has been a real pleasure seeing his reaction to being able to run off lead and to be taken out on walks. He is beginning to really enjoy a cuddle but finds it hard to stand still long enough to really enjoy it. He is very good with other dogs except when he is eating. He is being fed on a hypoallergenic food as he has sensitive digestion which is quite common in GSDs. He is very inquisitive on his walks and we are walking him in a harness until his coat grows back. He didn’t have much muscle when he came to us but is gradually building muscle with regular walks. Although he has never lived in a house he is very clean in his kennel so should be easy to house train. If you can give Max the home he deserves for the rest of his life please contact us on 0845 3105663 or email us on [email protected]. We are based in West Wales but re-home all over the UK and will always carry out a home check.
  3. We couldn't agree with you more. Since when did dogs become weekend accessories. Next they will be renting out children for the weekend. What is it about the USA that we always seem to think that their ideas are great.
  4. Bo – 10 month old terrier cross Bo is a ten month old terrier cross who is very friendly and very lively. He is good with other dogs although he can be boisterous. He does pull on a lead but is well behaved off a lead and comes when called. He is house trained, microchipped and neutered. For more details please contact us on 0845 3105663 or email us on [email protected]. We are based in West Wales but re-home all over the UK and will always carry out a home check.
  5. We have heard through our contact in the Forest of Dean area that whole litters of pups are being bought up, on the same day of the week, and they visit this area every week and it is the same person whose does the buying. Always pays in cash and will take x breeds (in this instance they were Rottie x Huskey) and pedigree and no questions asked. Has anyone else experienced this in their area. The person I spoke to is extremely worried that these pups could be going to the fur trade. Another of our contacts in Southern Ireland has had repeated requests for as many non ferral kittens as she can get, as long as they can be handled they will be taken. These are to come to England. Needless to say she told said person where to go, and not as politely. Both contacts are experienced rescue workers and we have no reason to doubt what they have told us.
  6. Lois is a lively, friendly 3 year old Border Terrier. She is spayed, micro chipped and fully vaccinated. Lois is very biddable but, like all Border Terriers, requires firm handling. She responds well to commands and walks without a lead to heel. She is very affectionate and likes nothing better than sitting on a lap or having plenty of strokes. Lois is very energetic and benefits from plenty of exercise. She is friendly with other dogs and is looking for a home where she will get lots of attention as an only dog or with a male dog. Lois has lived on a smallholding and is used to poultry, geese, sheep and cats. If you can offer Lois a forever home please contact us on 0845 3105663 or email us on [email protected]. We are based in West Wales but re-home all over the UK and will always carry out a home check.
  7. Opps he has done it again . You have the patience of a saint and you know Jed really really loves you D
  8. Hi We have just e mailed Freecycle and asked them to stop the Mods posting animals on the sites. Freecycle was set up to stop land fill by advertising unwanted beds, carpets and the like and not as a very quick and free way of getting rid of unwanted animals. There are so many unscrupulous people out there that it worries the hell out of us where some of these pets might end up i.e. puppy farms, dog fighting rings etc etc etc. If anyone else is concerned about this would you please make your feelings known to Freecycle. Freecycle is a very very good idea and there is no way that we are knocking what they are doing it is just purely the animals that we are very concerned about. D
  9. We have a pub near us who puts various puppies for sale on a chalk board outside its entrance. Almost certain that these pups are coming from a puppy farm. Possibly someone works at the pub and is connected to puppy farm but cannot prove it at the moment. Wonder if they could lose their liquer licence? Epupz are also supposed to take off anyone suspected of puppy farming from their site.
  10. Sky is a 3-year-old Staffie bitch. She is neutered, house trained and well behaved. She has good recall but pulls a little when on the lead. She loves to play ball and carry stones around with her. She is very affectionate and likes children but would be too boisterous for young children. We are looking to home her with experienced Staffie owners and as she only likes some dogs she will need to be an only dog or with a quiet dog in a home with no cats. If you feel you could offer Sky a loving forever home please contact us on 0845 310 5663 or email [email protected]. We are based in West Wales but re-home all over the UK and will always carry out a home check.
  11. We now have some better pictures of this lovely lad. He is now housetrained, living with other dogs and cats and is a very happy chap who deserves that special home. Please don't be put off by his age, he could give some youngsters a run for their toys! If you would like to see the photos please e mail [email protected] and they will be sent to you. Many thanks Dawn
  12. Ben is a super 11 year old Border Collie x. He is good with other dogs and cats. He travels well in the car and is good on the lead. His favourite game is to play ball. He is microchipped and will be neutered before rehoming. He is only being rehomed through absolutely no fault of his own. He is a very happy chap who could easily be mistaken for a dog half his age. To see a photo of Ben please visit our website www.ceredigionanimalrescue.org.uk If you are interested in offering Ben a forever home please contact us on 0845 3105663 or e mail [email protected]
  13. Ceredigion Animal Rescue & Education have a lovely large white cat that was found in Borth. He is about 5/6 years old, neutered, semi long haired and very friendly. Contact www.ceredigionanimalrescue.org.uk or phone 0845 3105663 for further details.
  14. Hi Donna We are on the West Wales coast between Cardigan and Aberwystwth and are using foster homes for our dogs cats and small animals. We have only just started and are always looking for fosterers and homecheckers. Have you checked out our web site www.ceredigionanimalrescue.org.uk this will give you more idea of what we are about. We are working with other rescues and are starting to build up a good network of contacts up and down the country and also have one in Southern Ireland. Aberporth Dog Club are holding a companion dog show for us on 12th August 2006 at Sarnau Park Farm, 9 miles north of Cardigan to raise funds for the charity, if you can manage to come along we would be very pleased to see you. Sorry if it has taken time to respond to you but we are new to the Refuge and still finding our way around.
