  1. I don't have any hope of catching up on this thread, but I hope everyone has had a nice day We have been house hunting. Looked at a lovely show house on a new development, but was a bit put off by the sight of one of the neighbours in the older houses that overlook the back garden, who was standing on his doorstep having a pizz in the general direction of a pile of old sofas and assorted rubbish in his garden
  2. Oh Moosh He is one brave and handsome lad He looks a bit grumpy at the slow service in the dining room tonight though
  3. The transformer on my kitchen halogen lights has gone kaput. OH said to get an electrician in to put a new one in. I've said he can pay me the money instead and I'll go and get one and put it in myself The wires come out of the transformer and plug into little white plastic things that have wires coming out of them connected to the lights, so I'm thinking how hard can it be to replace If I go up in a puff of smoke it's been very nice knowing you all
  4. Has Squirrel Cam gone off? I have been looking at Noah's bottom for a long time
  5. Oh Ykstar, I'm so, so sorry for the horrible time you are going through I wish I had some wise words that would help you get through this. Sending you a big cyber-hug
  6. Awww, poor Caleb. Help him somebody, he's wedged down there He's a good sleeper isn't he?
  7. I'm dead envious of other Refugers who live in beautiful houses while I live in a shabby looking semi on a skanky estate There's clearly been a celestial mix-up - I was definitely supposed to live in a country cottage, keep chickens, have a huge garden with room for growing vegetables and a private income so I didn't need to work. Someone out there is living my life
  8. Phoebejo's Molly I've been on the go from first light today, so am now having a bit of a sit down and catching up on here, with a glass of red wine next to me and Neil Diamond's new cd playing full blast
  9. I've just had an email from Mr Nobody. No message, nothing showing in the address box, or subject, or anywhere else. When I clicked on it, the sender box said 'sender unspecified'. How is that possible?
  10. Awwww, Phoebejo, that's worth at least 50 Partner Points for most excellent behaviour on Ian's part
  11. RMF: To amuse myself while OH was looking at DVD players in a well-known electrical store tonight (booooring), I got my pen out of my bag and went around crossing out all the rogue apostrophes in said store's marketing posters wot were spread around. I managed to do at least half a dozen before OH caught up with me
  12. I tried ringing Trading Standards, or Consumer Direct or whatever they are called at the moment who told me that credit card companies are not usually interested unless the amount is more than £100, and in their words 'Well, you've lost your money I'm afraid'. I am v grumpy about it, especially as I could have gone round to the local garden centre and bought one from them, but it was slightly cheaper to buy from the website. So now I am £43 down and I have no doormat
  13. Erm, if anyone is thinking of ordering a Dirt Trapper mat from the manufacturers, they might want to reconsider I placed an order in December, and although the money came out of my credit card account immediately, I haven't received anything and the company 'seems' to have disappeared into thin air. No reply to my emails, none of the phone lines are working, no-one replies to letters.
  14. Doggie Mum, I do like your new avatar, tis very beautiful
  15. Thanks Karen, I didn't think of Trading Standards Now I've called them I am truly vexed. They told me to write to the company recorded delivery, giving them a deadline for either supplying the goods or sending me a refund. However, if my letter is returned cos they have gone out of business or done a runner, then there's nothing I can do and I've lost my money. They also said that credit card companies only get interested if it's for over £100, which means if I'd bought two of the wretched things I'd be covered
  16. Does anyone know how to find out if a company has gone into liquidation? I placed an order with Dirt Trapper for a lovely big doormat in December, and they took the money straight away but I haven't had the mat yet. No one is responding to emails and of the telephone numbers I can find, two have recorded messages saying the number is suspended, and one just rings and rings and rings. Alternatively, if anyone lives in Swansea could they just drive by and see if the lights are on in the factory
  17. I have just been Having a Big Tidy Up (also known as piling things up neatly and stuffing things under cushions). Did anyone see the Anthea Turner programme on being the perfect housewife last night - that woman sure needs more to do Richard that sounds scary, do go to the docs You might need to make a compensation claim or something but you should get checked out anyway. I was reading something at the weekend about the number of people who've been side-swiped by left hand drive artics recently, something to do with lack of mirrors I think. Did it have foreign plates Good luck for this afternoon Kingprawn
  18. Trudi that's spot on. When you compare the person you are (when you are in the bad place, I mean) with the person you were, it's like looking at a different person altogether - but it's only when you're out of it that you can see that clearly If it gives any hope to anyone, IMO making the break is never as hard as you imagine it will be, and the relief it brings is indescribable. I hope this thread gives anyone who needs it a bit of extra courage to reclaim their life
