  1. WELL DONE MADDIE :partytime: Its great to hear that all your training with maddie has paid off Kath. You never gave up on her. I am so Glad she is doing well. I am sure she will have her Flyball dog award in no time.
  2. Glad to hear that you both enjoyed our Training session. Kiera is a Star and I am sure she will pick Flyball up in no time. she will soon get used to all the other dogs barking when she has been coming a few weeks and will become as mannick as they are eventually Its sounds like Kiera is doing really well with her homework. The next step is to build the distance up to approx 51 feet (the length of a Flyball run) perhaps in the garden or when out for a walk. If you don't want to take a bucket out with you try putting the ball on a tree stump, park bench or just on the ground. this will teach her to fetch a ball that is stationary, rather than one which is thrown. Weather permitting we should be training again on Sunday the 9th or if not on Sunday the 15th of December. We are not training this weekend because we are competing at Doncaster. If you would like Ron's telephone number so that you can check when training is on, pm one of us Cheshire setters Hope you will join us again Mandy
  3. So sorry to hear this, hope she is better soon

I know that you will do just fine Jayne What are you saying about my oh. Tony
  5. Oh deer Jayne I hope you feel better soon Thats the trouble with Flyball once you get addicted to it, it gets dangerous to your Health.
  6. Well Done Kimba You did Sooooooooooo Well
  7. Poor Meg Have you tried doing flyball with meg when there are no other dogs around at all (perhaps at the end or begining of a training session, before everyone else gets there dogs out) so that she knows she will not be attacked. build her confidence back that way. If it works and she dose it quite happilly than start by introducing dogs one at a time in the run back area, (perhaps another dog that she knows and trusts). try and keep all other dogs away from the start of the lane while she comes back. This will mean she has to run last until she can cope with other dogs going into the lane again as she comes out.It will probably take time and patience to give Meg her confidence back. Hope this is of some help, let us know how you get on.

  11. Gooster suggestion of playing with him across the other side of the field but still in sight of other dogs is a good one. We have used this to help dogs that were nervous or that get over excited by other dogs. When you have his attention on you and playing nicely with you, slowly move closer to the other dogs if you lose his attention at any point then move further away and start again. Passing another dog going in the other direction sounds like a good Idea, we did some of this with Rye (the one that landed on her head) and I think it helped. Use your tuggie or a tennis ball (which ever is the most attractive to him) to get him to come past the other dog and to you, if he comes straight to you have a good play session with him. As for doing Flyball, once he knows and is confident in what he is doing (i.e. going down to the box collecting the ball and coming back to you) Then I would gradully get him used to another dog in the other lane. At first wait until the other dog is just coming out of the other lane having completed his/her run before sending your dog to fetch his ball. When he is doing it ok like this try letting him go slightly early each time i.e. when the other dog is half way back up the lane. These are only my thoughts and some one else might have some better ideas. let us know how you get on.
