    Shooby

Play happy and pain free at the Bridge sweet Shooby
  7. Goodbye lovely lad and I will miss the walks I shared with you and Muzi Play pain free at the bridge with all our lost friends I leave you for the Bridge today. Anew, I run, I bark, I play! We shared a life of many things and to your heart my leaving brings; the pain of loss, I feel it too, but Master, know, this I must do. Just as I snuggled in your heart, you're in mine too, we aren't apart. I watch you from afar and pray, it's time to heal, heal some each day. Please dry those tears and smile for me, and know at last that I am free. There is no pain or suffering here. The sun shines brightly everywhere.
  8. In this day and age people should be allowed to wear what they want without being dictated to (as long as decent of course) Well done to your son for being proud of what he wears
  9. Sad News I am afraid Jeremy has visited Zimba today as he has developed a lump in his mouth, Stevie has had to increase his meds again and Zimba is having a scan on his mouth 1st thing on Monday, but things do not look good Please all pray for him over the next few days
  10. Spoke to Stevie earlier today and after a bad spell on Sunday Stevie increased Zimba's tablets, the result was that Zimba had a good day yesterday and wagged his tail when Brenda visited but he has to be weaned of the tablets from today so we will see what happens He is taking himself out to the garden, although he is using the wall to help him along as his eyesight has still not returned, but he does sometimes need help getting back indoors. He is eating and drinking okay and our loverable vetman Jeremy is going to visit him later so hopefully will have more news soon
  11. Heard from Stevie this morning and it's good news Zimba ate his breakfast as normal this morning and managed to walk to the water bowl unaided although still a bit wobbly his sight has still not returned and maybe never will but at least the steroids are working to reduce the swelling on his brain Have sent all your good wishes onto Stevie and she has given Zimba a hug from you all

    Warning!

Crossposted from another forum:- This is more of a warning than a discussion point, although it does raise issues like - why was there no warning on the packaging? This message came to us from Ali Taylor, Head of Welfare, Battersea DH. Quote: Yesterday one of our dog agility friends experienced a tragedy and wanted me to pass a special message along to all of my dog loving friends and family. Please tell every dog owner you know. Over the weekend the doting owner of two young lab mixes purchased Cocoa Mulch from Target to use in their garden. They loved the way it smelled and it was advertised to keep cats away from their garden. Their dog Calypso decided that the mulch smelled good enough to eat and devoured a large helping. She vomited a few times which was typical when she eats something new but wasn't acting lethargic in any way. The next day, Mum woke up and took Calypso out for her morning walk. Half way through the walk, she had a seizure and died instantly. Although the mulch had NO warnings printed on the label, upon further investigation on the company's website, this product is HIGHLY toxic to dogs and cats. Cocoa Mulch is manufactured by Hershey's, and they claim that "It is true that studies have shown that 50% of the dogs that eat Cocoa Mulch can suffer physical harm to a variety of degrees (depending on each individual dog). However, 98% of all dogs won't eat it." Also included was the following information - Quote: Cocoa Mulch, which is sold by Home Depot, Foreman's Garden Supply and other Garden supply stores, contains a lethal ingredient called "Theobromine". It is lethal to dogs and cats. It smells like chocolate and it really attracts dogs. They will ingest this stuff and die. Several deaths already occurred in the last 2-3 weeks. Just a word of caution, check what you are using in your gardens and be aware of what your gardeners are using in your gardens. Cocoa bean shells contain potentially toxic quantities of theobromine, a xanthine compound similar in effects to caffeine and theophylline. A dog that ingested a lethal quantity of garden mulch made from cacao bean shells developed severe convulsions and died 17 hours later. Analysis of the stomach contents and the ingested cacao bean shells revealed the presence of lethal amounts of theobromine. PLEASE GIVE THIS THE WIDEST DISTRIBUTION!!!

  16. Not fair to generalise as I know of a lot of Spanish who do not treat their dogs this way and hear of a lot in UK that do I can probably help but do need to know were abouts this pup is as Southern Spain is a very big place. PM me with any details you have as do think she needs to get out asap, although I would suspect that they would probably just go out and get another one. Also there is a rescue in the Mijas/Fuengirola area of the costas www.padcatsanddogs.org that may be able to help educate these people (I am actually 4/5 hrs from the costas)
  17. I live in Spain and see so many of these little darlings wondering around maybe when I have the room (5 dogs in 4 rooms and 9 acres) I will be tempted to take one home
