SashasMum
My dog Sasha is having chemotherapy for lymphoma. After the drugs she was given last week she was really poorly with vomiting and nausea and didnt eat from thursday morning til yesterday evening. Even now she can only take little bits of food. Is there any homeopathic remedies that will help reduce any side effects of nausea and vomiting? I would be really grateful for any advice you could give me. Thank you. Brenda
Firstly to you all. Don't know about homeopathic drugs, but could the vet give you any anti-emetic drugs such as metoclopramide to help with sickness?
Muriel
You'd need a Homeopathic Vet to advise there, but with all those toxins in the body it won't be easy. To find one try here http://www.bahvs.com/ http://www.trusthomeopathy.org/trust/tru_over.html There are loads of natural non-toxic things help with cancer, if you want info I'll post it.. again... Sending Reiki if it's wanted. Edited August 28, 2007 by Muriel
blackmagic
have you checked with your vet as my vet told me that dogs don't react to chemo as the dose is much smaller than that given to humans. Fortunately, my bitch didn't have cancer so didn't need it.
ReikiAnge
have you checked with your vet as my vet told me that dogs don't react to chemo as the dose is much smaller than that given to humans. I thought I had read that too. Poor Sasha, hope you can find something to help her
reds
Really sorry you're both going through this. Definitely check with your vet if you haven't already. My Angel Kelly had chemo. drugs on quite a high dose for over a year and never had any vomiting or obvious side-effects. Did the vet say that vomiting might happen? If not then I'd be inclined to think it was a reaction that was not of the norm and stop using the drug if possible. Loads of and would really like to here how Sasha gets on. Ian
There is said to be scientific evidence that amino acids will reduce the effects of chemotherapy. I too have read claims that chemo doesn't make dogs sick but just as many, if not more, that said there dog was sick when given it. http://www.wddty.com/03363800369976676689/...emotherapy.html Not specific to your question but there are some more sites that might interest you here http://www.petcancer.co.uk/ http://www.animalcancertrust.org.uk/Links/..._of_cancer.html http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.p...p;C=0&A=575 http://www.cancerfightingstrategies.com Good luck in your fight
SashasMum
Thank you all for your replies. Muriel, reiki is always wanted and gratefully received The vets did say last week that the drug they gave her (methotrexate) carries more of a risk of sickness and diarrhoea. She is not responding to the treatment as well as they would like her to. She only has partial remission, so they adjust her medication to how she is doing. She goes to the vet school on the Wirral for her chemotherapy, but I took her to our own vet on Saturday and she had an anti-emetic injection and I went back on Sunday and got some more of the same drug but in tablet form. She is perking up a bit now, but still only eating little bits. We are back at the vet school tomorrow for her next appointment, so I will let them know how bad she has been and hopefully we can plan a way forward from here. Thank you all again Mandy x

SDS
My dog candy was 6 when she was diagnosed with mailignant lymphoma. She did suffer from fairly severe bouts of sickness following a session of chemo. I also found it to be quite often bright yellow/orange in colour. Please look after yourself and I would like to offer any help or advice you may need now or in the future. I did find it comforting to talk to somebody else that was experiencing the roller coaster ride for themselves too. I hope Sasha continues to feel brighter. Take care Jo
smirnoff
My son had cancer and I gave him Salvestrol which comes from plants and I'm convinced it helped him to enjoy the times between treatments and reduce the effects. It's made from fruit - it's a refinement on resveretrols which are the good bits found in red wine etc which is widely thought to lessen the effects of chemotherapy. I don't know if it's safe for animals, but you could ask a homeopath or contact the manufacturers (fruitforce.co.uk). I really think it helped my son to have a good quality of life while he had cancer, but sadly it didn't work any miracles and he passed away in November. But maybe it can help Sasha to be strong so that the chemo can do it's stuff. Love and hugs to you and Sasha. Diane
