  4. Only just read this. So very sorry Alicia Run free Onion
  5. Tell me about it! I try to make it out of the park every morning by 7.30 latest, before the bulk of the numpty brigade shows up. During sunny weekends the park is a no go area, but not just because of the hapless dog owners; the vast majority of park users seems to have left their brains at home when they left the house - and that is assuming that they had them to begin with! And I could write a book about the "he only wants to play" eejits who let their dogs run riot around my increasingly agitated Sparks Then, on the other hand.... last week we went to the beach, a mate with her 2 very well behaved dogs and the hooligans n me. It was my fault for not checking the tides so we had a lot less beach, and, due to the nice weather, a lot more people around us. I was also dead tired so not on my most alert, and it took Sparky 3 counts of not behaving as required (going for dogs and pinning them down) before I saw the light and put him on his lead Amazingly enough mate still wants to come out with us Lesson learned for next time I guess.... And then there is the lady who rides her horse at a snail's pace through the local nature reserve. I obviously prefer it to her galloping all over the place, mowing dogs and children in her path down, but it means that I call my 2 back to me as soon as I see her - and sometimes her chums - and have them sit patiently with me until they have passed. Would I ever get a 'thank you' or even a not and a smile? Will I heck, she looks down on us like we're vermin! TBH, and I'm trying very hard not to be too negative, I think that hapless dog owners are just one symptom of a society where everyone is encouraged to get whatever they want, whenever they want, but is discouraged from using common sense and taking responsibility, unless they have taken the relevant course and are "qualified!
  6. I'm so very very sorry Nige :mecry: Life is bloody unfair some times :(

    Happy

Oh my word!! Happy Gotcha Day, beautiful Gracie - and may there be many more to come! :partytime:
  8. Agree with all of the above! You should hear and see my 2 collie crosses play: the times that I've heard people go "Ohh they're fighting!" Errr, no they're not, but especially Kiera is one noisy madam! I hope you'll have many more years of watching a happy Bessie play
  9. I'm so very very sorry Nigel :mecry: I'm bawling my eyes out here too. Archie was as lucky to have found you as you were to have found him. :GroupHug: Sweet dreams little Archie, until you meet again
  10. I am so very sorry Nige, that's just so bloody unfair!! Sending you and Archie lots and lots of good thoughts
  11. Oooohhhh, and how could I forget Kiera's Jolly Ball! Check out this link: traininglines and scroll down to the Jolly Ball section. Kiera's got the 'romp n roll' ball with the rope in it. One of the dogs at agility, a big collie, has chewed the roped off his, but neither he nor Kiera can destroy the ball as it is tough and too big for their gobs
  12. Oops, I did miss this Belated Happy Birthday, Fiona!!
  13. Not daft at all Michelle! But no, he's def a blue merle
  14. What a little sweetie! Would the others be interested in nylabones? Or tuggies (basically a few strips of fleece braided together). He'd be able to chew on that and shake it, but I think it'd be harder to shred? Only guessing as I don't have chewers! Failing that, cardboard boxes? Kiera used to like shredding cardboard, might've been a way of releasing stress? Dunno, just trying to be helpful
  15. Have forwarded his details to agilitynet, will try the flyball association as well - thanks guys!
  16. Happy Birthday Alex!! Hope you're having a lovely day!
  17. Sarah has asked me to spread the word about a gorgeous little collie, Sammy, who is in her care at the moment and is looking for a new home: The lovely (and very unusual looking) Sammy is a Border Collie with iceblue eyes! He is a year old and now neutered, vacc'd and chipped. He is only suited to an active home as he is from working stock I already got him up on the EGAR FB page but perhaps some of my friends are into agility? Sammy will knock you dead with his looks and temperament! If you know of anyone looking for a collie boy, who has an active home to offer, please get in touch with Sarah at East Galway Animal Rescue: www.egar.org - Sammy would be considered for rehoming to the UK if the right home came along
  18. What a horrid, horrid situation I'm absolutely pants with conflict situations, I often bottle it up and then explode at some point, which usually isn't very helpful. I'd definitely try talking to your parents. Could you possibly invite them for dinner or at least a coffee? I also like the idea of beating the cow at her own game if you can stomach being around her for that long. Hope you'll be able to get it sorted
  19. Totally agree with the Fugee community always being there, whether it's to support, laugh at, laugh with or commiserate with each other As far as the past year's concerned, it's been cr@p. Got made redundant in May and have been struggling to get any work at all since. I'm grateful that the pants job that I've got now and absolutely hate with a passion will provide me with at least a few pennies until I find summat better. But what I'm really grateful for is the relationship with Sparky and Kiera, which has yet again developed; I don't think we've ever been this close. I love them SO MUCH!!!!!   Just before Xmas I saw a post from a friend on their facebook page, saying how he was gutted that a staffy, that he had helped transport to a "safe" fosterer, had to leave the fosterer again ASAP, as he didn't get on with the resident dogs - by the sounds all down to not having been properly introduced. Poor little Staffy was down south, and I'm up in Manchester, with no hope of ever introducing another dog in my house anyway. Went ahead and posted him all over my contacts pages anyway and lo and behold, a lovely lady down south saw it and was able to help out. Little Staff is now in a dream of a foster (? really? ) home. Through all the sh1te of last year, this is something that made my 2010 end on a high and something that I'm truly grateful for
