  1. Until he gets used to the condition (which doesn't affect dogs as much as it affects humans), it can be a good idea to use the foam type lagging you can buy for pipes and use it on the bottom of doors (as these move so are not always in the same place). Scent up his toys - ie, if he likes to chase balls in the garden, putting a ball in a polythene bag with a clove of garlic overnight can give it a scent to help him detect it etc.
  2. No words Carole, except, know that you are all in my thoughts and that you gave little Sooty the very best love of all Run free Sooty <hugs>

It's £70 here, but when I had the ariel guy out, he said we didn't need one (had it checked before we got the box). He did say that a general rule of thumb is that if you can get a decent channel 5 picture, you should be OK
  4. Try tapping on the text you want to scroll, then go to the side of the touch pad and run your finger down it from top to bottom to scroll down (t'other way for up) Usually it's the very side edge of the touch pad that works it.
  5. http://www.idodogtricks.com/index_flash.html Can't resist posting this. It was on another forum so I've unashamedly ripped it off. type in the commands in the text box Make sure you try the 'kiss' command before you leave
  6. The vet has taken the bloods hasn't he Raiye?????
  7. Raiye, have any bloods been taken? If so, what did they test for?? Does he show any signs of obvious pain? When he is up and about, does he suddenly 'go blank'/'daydream' ?
  8. This maybe in the wrong place so Mods, please feel free to move if required. My Son has a year old Staffie who has sensitive skin. A normal collar tends to rub and make her neck sore so she has been on a harness since she was a pup. However, her 'armpits' are now getting very sensitive to the point where a reasonable walk yesterday caused her to come home very sore. Although I've worked with many Staffies and seen sensitive skin in quite a few of them, never to this degree so I'm a little at a loss as to which type of harness might be more suitable. All suggestions welcomed. Chris
  9. Please, please, please be careful if training this. It can easily become obsessional to the point of stereotypic in certain breeds (not just collies) and develop into a problem behaviour.
  10. Don't know how this got to be a 'pro' and 'anti' kid thing, but for what it's worth, when I take my grandkids out for a meal, we go to places that cater for kids. When I go out for a meal just me and hubby, I prefer to be in grown up company. My choice and my preference. I enjoy both experiences. My grandkids would hate to go for a 'formal' meal (they are 2, 4, and 8), just as my hubby isn't too impressed by the informal and generally noisy meals when we take the youngsters out. Just as I wouldn't take children into the workplace and expect them not to cause some disruption (no matter how small), I wouldn't take children into a formal, 'grown up' restaurant. When my own kids were little, I used to like to go out to 'de-stress'. Child-free zones so that I could re-charge my batteries. I also used to like to take them places with me where both they and I could enjoy. Can't see anything wrong with that??
  11. Patch. Run free at the bridge 'ickle Pillow Cat. Chris
  12. During a fit, the muscles really contract and it's not uncommon to suffer muscle tension for some time after (in my son's case, up to about three days depending on the severity of the fit). The tension, I'm told, feels much like the after effects of a severe cramp and is painful and uncomfortable. Green lipped mussel is good for arthritis. For joint problems, Glucosomine and Chondroitin is excellent. Are your dog's fits under control with medication. It may be worth asking for a review if the fits are happening regularly.
  13. If you have a Holland and Barratt near you, they quite often have half price offers on Glucosomine and Chondroitin as well as the green lipped mussel I can wholeheartedly recommend both - they've done wonders for my guy who has severe HD in both hips. He went from permanent limp to being able to chase his ball again (provided we are sensible and don't overdo it with him)
  14. Nite Nite Ginger, sleep tight. Big hugs winging their way to your mum Chris
  15. Run free little Ralphie. My thoughts are with you Kazz - remember all the good times <hugs> Chris
