    Orthapeadic Vets.

Daisy & Ben were both referred to an orthapaedic vet (Ben due to his spondylitis and Daisy after a fall - slipped disc on her spine) He was in Castle Donington, Derbyshire. Can't praise him enough, he really knew his stuff and diagnosed Daisy's problem almost immediately when several of the vets at our practice really didn't have a clue what she had done. Both of them had an MRI and surgery. Not cheap though, the MRI alone cost £800! Was definitely worth it though and thankfully they were insured.
  4. I have never heard of mooncups before reading this thread, they sound lke a good idea. I have always resented the amount I spend on tampons & sanitary towels! Thanks for enlightening me - must confess I did think this was a wind-up for a while though!!
  5. So sorry to hear this. We lost our darling grey, Daisy in February to a lung tumour. I will love and miss her forever, I can understand your pain.
  6. His story touched my heart too. Bless him, enjoy the bridge Billy. Lovely poem, have tears streaming down my face now!
  7. Oh so sorry to hear this. Was going to order some chicken & turkey necks for Caleb, don't think I will now.
  8. I feel for you, I really do. Money is tight for us too and I have 2 jobs to make ends meet. I have had 2 poorly dogs recently and it is heartbreaking. No advice, but just sending you edited for spelling!
  9. Our old lurcher Ben had an MRI which showed he had spondylitis, but it also showed he had, had a stroke. I would definitely recommend an MRI, not cheap and he will probably need to be referred to a specialist. The vet we were referred to charged £900 for the MRI and another £800 for subsequent surgery to repair the 'step' in his veterbrae, but Petplan paid for it all. Hope you manage to find an answer soon.
  10. Hi, I'm Brenda, I live in Leicestershire, but born and bred Londoner! I'm happilly married to Les and have 2 kids, Adam aged 18 and Rachel 16. I have 2 part-time jobs; as first-aider/admin/welfare in a High School and a Marie Curie (cancer care) nurse. In my 'spare' time (ha, ha) I help out at our local Animal Sanctuary. I have 4 cats, Misty (Birman) Sasha, Rosie and Sidney, who is disabled. We are also the new proud owners of Caleb. We recently lost our darling blue greyhound Daisy to cancer (she's on my avatar) aged only 6(ish)and our lovely old lurcher Ben to a suspected stroke in December, he was my shadow. Still coming to terms with their loss, they were perfect. Had lots of other rescue cats and dogs over the years, mainly oldies. I know several of the members here from other forums.
