Darley ~ Excellent No Hassle Hound – 2Yo Black Greyhound

Recommended Posts

DARLEY

**UPDATED: SEPTEMBER 2012**

The very gorgeous Darley is a 2 year old greyhound boy who was bred to race but never took to that whole way of life. As such he ended up on death row in a pound before being picked up in the nick of time by Rescue Helpers Unite and then making his way to Kerry Greyhounds UK.

Darley is indeed a darling boy. He is a lean, leggy boy who looks so very elegant, especially with his glossy black coat. He has a very soft, kind expression and we hope he isn’t waiting too long for his forever home.

~ Personality ~

Well in short, Darley is just lovely. He’s a very sweet tempered, gentle lad who really just wants to be loved and hugged all day long. He adores people, despite his rocky past, and really loves getting any attention he can from you. Having said that, he is definitely not pushy or in-your-face about asking for this affection, he is just VERY good at making ‘please love me’ faces!

Darley has not yet been with us long and is still settling into temporary foster care. We hope to update with his progress very soon, but please don’t let that deter you from asking about this boy right now. He really is a super dog and will be a fab hound to have.

~ In the Home ~

Darley has just moved into a temporary foster home, so is still adjusting but doing very well. This boy would be an excellent choice for a fist time hound owner who may not yet know how greyhounds tick. He is very forgiving, social and loving.

~ Other Animals ~

Darley has been excellent with every dog he has met so far, regardless of size or shape. He really loves other dogs and would likely slot extremely well into an existing pack. Alternatively he might be a good companion hound for a timid or nervous dog, as he is quite placid and calm in himself.

~ Out and About ~

Like most greyhounds, Darley is a rather lazy potato and does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week.

~ Greyhounds as Pets ~

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

~~ KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK ~~

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a small voluntary organisation that is based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).

We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK.
