DILLY

Dilly is a 5 year old ex-racing greyhound boy. Poor Dilly has had a very hard life so far and has been rescued from a bad situation. As you can see, he was in poor physical and mental condition when he first came to us and was quite depressed in himself.

Luckily Dilly is in a loving foster home now and is making great progress. After having a shocking 20 teeth removed, he is putting on weight and is starting to get some health back in his coat. His mood has also greatly improved and he is now a happy, affectionate boy who is just starting to learn how to play.

Dilly has a pretty white coat with dark brindle patches and has very soulful eyes. He is absolutely adoring the home life and is really grateful for his comforts. He gladly welcomes any affection that you give him and likes to snuggle on the sofa in the evenings. Dilly walks great on the lead and when let offlead in an enclosed paddock, he’s more interested in getting more head rubs than in running off!

Like most greyhounds, Dilly is a total couch potato and does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week.

Unfortunately Dilly’s main issue right now is other dogs and a lot of this problem stems from him getting attacked by other dogs on several occasions. Right now he is very distrustful of dogs and needs to be fed separately from other dogs until he regains this trust. He could live with another, calm doggie friend and is currently sharing his foster home with another greyhound, but care does need to be taken when he is meeting new, unfamiliar dogs as he is still very wary of them. This is sure to improve with some time and lots of positive reinforcement with tasty treats. He is not cat friendly.

Dilly is very food orientated and loves his grub, so food based training works very well with him. Now that he has learned how to play fetch, he would do it all day long if he could! In the house Dilly is well behaved and can be left for 3-4hrs with other dogs for company. He is fantastic in the car and falls asleep instantly when travelling.

Dilly is a fabulous boy and we are just starting to see his true personality. He is full of love and is going to be such a rewarding addition to the right kind of family who will help him get over his remaining issues. This special boy has been through a lot and we would really like to find him his loving, quiet forever home.

Dear Dilly is still looking for his forever home. He is doing well in his foster home and his wounds have healed up nicely. This boy just needs a chance with an understanding owner and he is sure to make a fantastic friend.

**UPDATE: FEBRUARY 2011**

Gorgeous Dilly has been in his foster home for 3 months now, and is such a different dog. His wounds have healed up nicely and he’s putting on steady weight. His coat has also transformed – gone is the dull, patchy coat he came with, now Dilly is a beautifully soft sleek boy. He is quite the stunner!

Dilly has also hugely improved mentally, and is a much, much happier dog in himself. He eats really well with the other greyhounds he’s sharing his foster home with and enjoys their company. His behaviour around non-greyhounds is much calmer and as long as treats are involved he will remain a good, mannerly boy, focused on the person dispensing the yummys! In 3 months his attitude towards other breeds has become much better and this can only improve with time.

Dilly absolutely loves to travel in the car and we would ideally like to find him a home with somebody who would take him everywhere with them. He jumps in and instantly settles for a good long snooze. He greatly enjoys a good walk and is super on the lead, but is also just as good at curling up and dozing the afternoon away!

Delicious Dilly adores being part of the family and included in outings. He is really such a loving boy, and his fosterer’s are quite smitten with him! He loves to curl up on the settee with them at the end of the day, and adores getting fussed over. We feel this boy would do absolutely best in a quieter home where he will have company for most of the day and maybe even spoiled a bit to make up for his rough past.

Dilly will be 6 years old in February, and we would dearly love to see this boy adopted out soon so that he will have no more turmoil in his life. This boy has changed so much and has become so trusting over the last few months, its so heart warming to see him happy and contented. He truly deserves a family of his own to love him in to his old age.

**UPDATE: MARCH 2011**

The delicious Dilly is still waiting patiently for his forever home. He really is a fantastic boy now and we are crossing all digits that he gets his permanent sofa soon.

Dilly is unrecognisable from the hound we took in 4 months ago, he has transformed into a beautiful, loving boy full of the joys of life. He adores all things people, food and sofa orientated and has tonnes of love to give. Dilly is one of those dogs content with the simple things in life – all he needs is a soft bed, regular meals and daily walks and he is happy as can be. In return you will get a completely devoted hound who lives to love his people.

Please consider giving this gorgeous boy a spot on your sofa, as he truly deserves to find his forever home after his harsh and difficult past.
