JOSEPH

Joseph is a 3 year old ex-racing greyhound boy. He is a big black fella with intelligent eyes. He is sure to be a gorgeous looking boy once his coat gains a bit of shine and condition.

Joseph has not been with us long so we are still assessing his personality. He is a little shy and confused right now, uncertain of his new surroundings. We are confident that once he comes out of his shell a bit more, he’s going to be a really lovely boy.

So far Joseph has been great with our other greyhounds, and tends to be a bit more relaxed when in their company. As such we feel he would do best in a home with another, more outgoing dog already established so that he can lean on and learn from them. He has not been tested yet with smaller dogs or cats, but these will be carried out prior to adoption.

Joseph has not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding and patient at the start and allow him time to settle and get accustomed to the huge changes. It shouldn’t take him more than a couple of weeks to settle down.

Like most greyhounds, Joseph will not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week.

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

**UPDATE: JANUARY 2011**

Joseph has now travelled across to the UK where he is waiting for his forever home. Joseph is a quiet little chap who could do with gaining some confidence. Right now he views the world from the back of the crowd and we are hoping that once he is getting the one-on-one attention that can only come from a home environment, he will start to come out of his shell. If you are interested in fostering this lovely boy, please do contact us.

Joseph enjoys the company of other dogs, though does need to be fed on his own right now as he can get defensive of his food bowl. Again this type of issue often dissipates once the dog is in a secure home environment. When there is no food involved, Joseph is a lovely sociable boy with our other greyhounds and shares his kennel with a doggie friend.

Dear Joseph is patiently waiting for his forever sofa, but in the meantime is fortunate enough to be moved in to foster care. This beautiful boy is getting to experience the joys and comforts of a secure home environment for the first time in his life, and boy is he lapping up the attention!

So far Joseph has been an ace houseguest, and is currently learning the do’s and don’ts about living in a home. We will update with his progress very soon. He is sure to make someone a fabulous family friend.

**UPDATE: MARCH 2011**

Dear Joseph is still waiting for his forever sofa, but he is having a blast in his foster home while he waits! Joseph is an absolute star of a dog and has adapted to the home life so quickly and smoothly, you’d think he had always been a lap dog!

Joseph is the perfect gent in and around the house. He is toilet trained, non destructive, calm and ok to be left with another dog for company. He is such a gentle, polite boy with everyone and everything; it’s a delight to be around him. Joseph has become very smitten with a little JRT he is sharing his foster home with, and as you can see they are completely adorable together. Joseph is very gentle when playing with her, and clearly doesn’t mind being walked all over!

This gorgeous boy has put on a good bit of condition since entering his foster home, and now has a beautifully sleek and shiny coat. He is a very elegant boy who is sure to attract a lot of attention when out and about.

Joseph is going to make an absolutely fantastic family friend and loyal companion for whoever decides to adopt him. He would be a very good boy for a first time greyhound owner as he is so happy, polite and well balanced. He is just now starting to play with toys and it’s a joy to see. All Joseph needs is love and he is a very happy boy.
