Pet News London Deputy Mayor jumps on bull breed bandwagon In London Dog Week London deputy mayor Kit Malthouse has made some very silly comments about ’status dogs’. He said that:- Certain types of dogs are inherently more aggressive than others. At the top of the list are bull breeds, developed for one purpose: to attack and fight. Bull terriers were bred as weapons, to duel or bait with, for their owner’s entertainment and status. As well as punishing owners appropriately for use of this weapon, we should be bolder about removing these dogs from circulation altogether. Abby Posted November 12, 2009 Report Share Posted November 12, 2009 Should be clear that Boris Johnson does not support his deputy in this matter and has spoken out to that effect. Boris and others members of his team talk about sorting out the people who use dogs as weapons and threats, but have stated they don't want legislation that harms innocent dogs just to appease the public.
