billydog
I'm meeting a friend for a dog walk at the weekend and we are looking for somewhere fairly central for us both, so thinking somewhere in east of leeds, between wetherby, selby, pontefract area. Anybody have any suggestions? Be great if there was no livestock or large wildlife! Thanks
Anne Grose
A friend of mine walks her dogs on Pontefract racecourse every day. Haven't been myself but she likes it
doggy.lover
Pontefract racecourse is very near an extremely busy main road and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who has a dog with dodgy recall or a nervous disposition that might cause it to bolt
billydog
Thanks for the ideas Ponte racecourse is quite nice but doggylover is right, it gets very close to the M1!! It is huge though and pretty nice. In the end we went to Temple Newsome which was lovely - though we didn't find the best bits until our way back. Would have been better if there hadn't been hundreds of other dogs doing a dogs trust sponsored walk or similar!! Was a tad busy so the naughty dogs didn't get off lead much, but we'll definately revisit. Also has a lovely and not too expensive coffee shop with loads of outdoor tables, so all pretty dog friendly.
