  1. Sorry for not replying May was a very tragic month, not only did we lose Barnum on the 2nd but we also lost his lifelong companion Meena on the 29th..... she was 14yrs old and was never really herself after loosing Barnum, they were insperable, she collapsed in the garden unable to get back up unaided we hoped she would rally but after a couple of days of watching her struggling to get herself about we decided to make the decision to let her go....we are still in shock going from two German Shorthairs in the house to none is a huge blow.

  2. That is exactly what I found when writing, I had a preconception that everyone had perfect horses and rode perfect tests but actually you soon realise for the majority its the opposite and actually the judge isn't looking for much more than the basics well done

We went eventing on Saturday, with the objective of seeing how he felt and doing as much as he felt capable. He did a nice dressage test and suddenly found his umph from somewhere but have to say I wish he didn't find it when we were heading down the centre line lol. Considering how flat he has been feeling I was delighted with the test, it was a bit untidy in places as he was keen but that was fine with me!

Had a long wait until the showjumping which in hindsight I didn't deal with very well, I went over to watch and learn the course and wound myself up proper :rolleyes_anim: Then I checked my dressage score which was 32 and well in touch with the leader on 27. By the time it came to get on I felt sick and my legs were like jelly, I have no idea why after some good showjumping efforts lately but heyho. I won't defend our performance but I will say I got there with plenty of time to warm up to be told they were running ahead of time and there was one more to go after the person in the ring. So I had a quick trot and canter, popped a cross pole and went in ....... and proceeded to decimate the whole course and Im not really sure why :sad02: When we came out they said 20 faults but 24 was on the final score so we smashed our personal worst in some style :banghead:

Having walked the xc course the day before I knew it was really strong and the hardest test we had ever faced, people were saying it was harder than the prenovice, I have to admit to not feeling very motivated, but of course he skipped round feeling fantastic i kept a hold of him as not point in going for the time but he gave me a wonderful ride, only one real sticky moment coming out of the coffin at a very spooky railway bridge fence with train tracks and a wooden train on top! So all was forgiven and I was left to rue our showjumping as even with three fences down showjumping we would have still been placed.

August is the month of showjumping boot camp, I am making myself go out every weekend to jump, showjumping competition this weekend then to my trainer next weekend to get a plan together.

Im on your side here...I hate show jumping...:) would gladly do Dressage and X Country all day.... but...the more you do the better you get....but make it fun....if you can have jumps up at home...dont just do a 'course' do a line of bounces...or a 'X' shape in the middle so you can do a figure of '8' over them....get friends over...anything....to liven it up a bit ...try it bareback....

  3. Have had a fab morning dressage writing. The time absolutely flew, the judge was lovely and I learned loads :) Some of the mistakes riders were making though was surprising. Loads were riding with washing lines for reins, totally overshooting the centre line and riding about 5 foot to the left or right without bothering to correct it. The judge said she usually starts every movement with a score of 6 and then adjusts up or down as needs be. It made me realise there is no reason why I can't get out and compete with Blue - I always think that all the other riders have perfect horses that bend and flex - the truth is that in the 2 classes I wrote for most of the horses weren't on the bit and hollowed through their transitions (I wrote for an intro and beginners prelim). So that made me feel a lot happier to know that all the other riders aren't riding about on Valegro/Uti type horses :)

Go for it!! just ride like you are having a lesson.... nice straight lines, accurate and even transitions....and ride into your corners...oh and my weekness...dont forget the test...:D

  4. Hope Loki is feeling better soon :flowers:

Well done on the dressage :)

Looking forward to reading about camp CP :)

Yesterday I got a message from my instructor telling me the sharer had cancelled her lesson  She wanted Friday (which is when I have my lesson so Claire told her no and to check with me when is ok for her to ride). I then got a message from sharer asking if she could swap her lesson to the weekend. Hopefully she will get it into her head that she can't just ride whenever she wants, and that he is my horse!

Had a fab hack on Blue on Monday night, we hacked over the pennine bridleway to mum and dad's house, had a glass of lemonade and an apple for the horses, and then hacked back. I really enjoyed it and Blue was very well behaved. No spooking or napping :)

Good for you....trouble is if you start down that path you only make a rod for your own back....she sounds a bit of a madam....

  5. I think I need to have words with my sharer. I had planned to ride tonight, as she has changed her lesson to a Saturday now. Last night I got a text telling me that she has changed her lesson to tonight instead. This morning I get another text telling me she is also riding Blue and having a lesson on Tuesday as her OH is going clay pigeon shooting with the YO husband so she thought she would ride Blue whilst she waits around  I am off on Tuesday, so had again planned to ride  As she has already arranged the lesson with my instructor, I feel mean on my instructor telling the sharer to cancel the lesson so I can ride

She doe know he isnt her horse? ....Id tell her to get lost Im sure you can find a much better sharer than that....

  6. I was beginning to wonder where everyone had got to, glad y'all doing ok. Wanda is fantastic since she came off the prascend and started the Feedmark C-plus. My shets are great, Lillie is still fairly obsessed with her companion, Millie in the mirror which is highly entertaining! The yard shet Monty has been a bit off and not eating but seems to be coming round now, he has malabsorption problems and has to eat huge amounts of slop to keep right so not eating was a big worry.

YO Sam went to a dressage comp with her horse Kim a year to the day from her surgery on her collateral and annular ligaments with a very poor prognosis, now just how good is that! She wasn't placed as Kim was more than a bit on end but just to get her there is a huge achievment.

I think we should meet Millie in the Mirror...:)

I bet Sam was just thrilled to be there after the trauma she has been through well done to both of them...:)

  7. Banner was being clipped today and I got an anguished phone call from YO Sam! Banner has lice!!!!!!! Lots of them, all over her!!! Sam checked out Lilli and Monty and they have them too! Eeeeeeeeek! Dashed off the shop for louse powder and I now have three dusty white ponies. I think they got them from the chickens, the damned birds sit on Banner's bum, (and sh**)! I'll be grabbing the dear little birdies tomorrow and dipping them in louse powder. To add insult to injury Banner, who is wearing her beautiful new whitney fleece was sat on by muckychuck and the flaming bird pooped on her rug. At the moment I hate chickens, especially the ones that infest and poop on my ponies!

Its the time of the year for them...I thought htye had banned louse powder? we used to give all the ponies an annual injection to cover all the nasties

  8. Oh Blue! Why do they always try to pull a sicknote the minute you enter a competition, Wanda is brilliant at that trick!

Little Lilli is a water chucker too, she has soaked loads of bedding in the last week so her bucket is now in a holder on the wall. She threw the most awesome temper tantrum tonight just because she thought I was a tad late with her tea. Little hooves stamping and banging the door then bouncing round her stable like Tigger! I do like to see my special needs pony misbehaving, it's sort of normal!

Its cute when they are tiny...not so cute when its half a tonne of TB Stallion demanding his tea....

  9. Banner put her tiny little hoof down rather firmly regarding the addition of another pony. She does not want me spending more time away from her than is strictly necessary, looking after Lilli and Wanda is allowed but NO MORE! I have to remember that she is an international superstar (diva) and deserves undivided attention. Bossy little madam! I must get a photo of Special Lilli, I did think she would grow a bit more as her dad was 13hh but she is growing outwards and is like a little tank, fortunately she has grown into her head, she would have been decidedly odd looking if she had not!

It would seem that all the free ponies have been offered homes, I just hope they are genuine and the ponies will be looked after. The river ponies are being cared for by a local rescue group, no owners have come forward, how can you lose a pony and not be in a total panic? Possibly more to this one than originally thought.

I like many others watch Olympia over Christmas on the telly and I thought what a pity they didnt have any pony agility on...I bet people would have loved it
