  1. Phebe it's best to keep the girls separated as one dog can attack an another during or after a seizure. Archie started off be just being concerned whenever George had a fit but over time he changed and started trying to attack him. Of course I was there and soon put a stop too it but I had to keep the separate if ever I had to leave them - just in case. So I think, as always, you are being a wise owl flowers.gif

I have been to the pain clinic to see about my meds and whether they could, or should, be adjusted to help me sleep better due to my joint pain. I was taken aback at the doctor's recommendation to "take a nip of something" before going to bed. I asked him if he meant alcohol to which he replied yes and then said to the nursing sister sitting doing paperwork in the corner "don't you sometimes have a wee dram before retiring sister". She replied that she did especially after a stressful day. I just sat opened mouthed. Then I told him that I'm not much of a drinker and that I wasn't at all sure about taking alcohol every evening to aid sleep.

He told me he wasn't advocating me becoming an alcoholic just to take one measure of something nightly. Again, not quite believing what I was hearing, I questioned the wisdom of this and said my meds stated that I shouldn't take them with alcohol. His reply was "that's because it increases the drowsiness of the medication but that's what you need".

Isn't this a very slippery slope?

I can give you some good recipes

  2. morning all :flowers:

its cold but just wet im so glad to say.

    my lung hurts! :mecry:

did I tell you the casualty doctor didnt ask for a scan of my gallbladder? im seeing the GP on monday and wont be very happy, been waiting since the beginning of november

Its still sunshiny here with no ice

Jazz :GroupHug: Thats so wrong not to give you a scan. Your gall bladder is attached to your liver and can make you feel very unwell. If you get infections it wipes you out. I hope your doctor kicks up for you as your quality of life could improve soooo much. I was treated for countless lung infections when in fact it was a very nasty gall bladder playing up.

  3. Id like to announce that for the first time in living memory....

the weather is better here than any where else. The grass is growing, the sun is shining and yet I can see snow on the distant mountains.

The biccies sound great,I may try them......I wonder if I can slip Vodka into them. Actually Aldi had a special on tinned boiled sweets and they had mulled wine flavour. Any feedback on the channel 4 site is appreciated by the team

  4. Snow..... There will be a million things you feel bad for because you cannot change the situation you are all in. But you know what ? Your mum doesnt know the emotions that you get dragged through so just smile and enjoy the time when you do get to her.Thats all she will see is you reassuring her and spending quality time. :GroupHug:

  5. It should be on the Channel 4 website and also my scrimping blog.

1lb/2lb of fresh or frozen berries micowaved with a pint of water and 16 oz of sugar untill cooked to a mush.

    sieve and cool

Use half of the vodka in each bottle and top up with water if neccesary. If you manage to not drink it by Christmas the vodka re strengthens

  6. Im not Loobie trust me lol. Well done for all your hard work paying off though and getting a permanant contract.

The next bit is NOT for Owl as she is allergic to all contents

As a Superscrimper Christmas gift, heres the recipe for chocolate liquer which should give you two wine bottles full for about £4 each

Full bottle of cheap as chips Vodka ( Aldi,Lidl or home bargains is fine )

    12 oz of sugar

    1 pint of water,

Bar (and a half optional) of 80 % chocolate (Aldis or Lidl do a brilliant cheap one )

    1 tin of condensed milk

Heat sugar and water to boiling and untill sugar is disolved, remove from heat and add condensed milk and then chocolate broken into small bits, Dark chocolate always tastes better ! leave to cool but stir occasionally.

Pour exactly half of vodka into a sterilised wine bottle and then fill both bottles with stirred chocolate mix leaving a small gap at the top so you can shake the mixture and stop chocolate setting at the top.

    Best Superscrimper tip *

If you have any chocolate mixture left add more vodka and drink from the bowl.

Feel free to share this on so people can have something magical....Chocolate and Vodka in a glass !!!!

    Happy Christmas every body

  7. Ive just read 20 pages to catch up.

Its like reading a book. I felt inclined to cheer at all the good stuff but felt sorrow for all those with or nursing someone with illness and I even felt anger on behalf of those being stitched up or things going wrong.

Heres hoping 2012 is a better year for everyone.

Ps Those mugs are brilliant Steph. Id be inclined to go round department store buyers and Amazon to really launch what is a brilliant begginings of a range.

  8. I've just had the most marvellous offer! 6 weeks in South Africa staying in a villa with its own pool in the Cape Town suburbs for free in exchange for looking after the owners 4 dogs and 1 cat whilst she is Europe. I can't go for many reasons, not least because of Archie but oh how I wish I could.

In the spirit of task sharing Ive packed my bags.

Wonderful wolf drawing, you have managed to capture the snuggliness.

Any news Snow ? We all wish good thoughts to your mum and any other fugees suffering at the moment. Talking of which lol at Jazz I hope you find the goggles soon.

  9. I think Willie has slipped into a parental role. They have psycologists who work stuff out and Willie got the crown to elevate his status. He immediately upped his game from likable old git to Disapproving father. At some point if he looses his crown, Antony ( who tries to do everything right ) will turn round and bite Willie back.

    Its like watching squabbling chihuahuas.

  10. Oooh Marge fab. I really wish I could draw but I'm hopeless.

I've got a dilemma and I really don't know what to do. Parents are looking for a new home for their African Grey parrot. Martyn has said he can come here if I want him to. We were supposed to be inheriting him so it's made me think boo hoo I thought he was coming here but oh hell not exactly great timing. I'm worried our household as it stands might be too potty for him, he could be stressed/frightened and because I don't know parrots I might not realise and he could have a heart attack in fright. I don't know how the Viz will behave. I think they'll both just think great another pet. Scoobs will more than likely think dinner has arrived. Would he get used to a bird being in part of the house he didn't have access to or would it stress the hell out of him because he would want to get to it and couldn't? I know next to nowt about parrots. Martyn used to have birds of prey and has handled this one. He clipped his claws today.

I have parrots and budgies. Its a matter of strict regime to ensure bird safety. Debbie has marauding cats so I have to make sure that the door is closed when Rio is free flying. Your Affy will need a room that isnt hugely busy so you can introduce him slowly as even just moving house will be immensely stressfull for him. Then just let him see for himself from his cage untill he is happy enough with it all. When he comes out of his cage just make sure predators are out of the room ! Always remember he will prefer to eat your wallpaper and mirror frames to parrot food and you will spend more on his five a day than yours !!!

  11. :GroupHug: Sandra

    :GroupHug: Marion

    Hope Cocoa is ok :flowers:

I had a crappy day at work, one of the new managers is an ar*e! So I came home and made a cake (like you do) anyway it cheered me up 3a53ad75.jpg

    Thats a brilliant cake !

Positive thoughts for all those needing them. I feel for you.

  12. Im getting annoyed with Sinnita. Id like to put my hand through the roof of "Im a celeb" and drag her out. If she gets picked any more I will be changing channels. I liked her before but now see a pathetic woman playing the role of a weak woman waiting to be saved. I begrudge watching the same old crap every time with her.

  13. Had a slight cry at corrie tonight. I think it makes it worse when you have oldies :mecry:

I didnt think it would set me off but it did.

hi folks, still offline except for mobile phone. Laptop has had malware and nasty fings removed but has come home tonight for me to declutter the mailboxes which are full to bursting. Also I had accidentally downloaded & saved a huge chunk of the bbc wales website and made it into a file! I couldnt have done that if I had tried, I dont know how to. It totally choked up the lappy. So will be a few days yet before I am online as it will go back for complete cleanup.

Greetings to all and hugs to those in need.

I was wondering why you had dissapeared !!! I was going to email you but wont now.

  14. hiya peeps!

ive been in hospital on a drip for half the day, third time in a week. they think now that its gallstones. I hope it is so its taken out and sorted once and for all. I cant live like this

Its not the actual gall stones but the infections that drag you down. The pain for some people can be excrutiating. The gall bladder is attached to your liver so when you feel unwell you REALLY feel unwell If they operate you will feel better the next day.

Im sorry Snow that you are so worried for your poorly mum. Feeling sick does make you lose your fight. I bet she will be up and running again once the anti sickness drugs kick in.

  15. What a sad morning here, horse hit by a car on local common (people let their animals graze even though the road is awful and theres no fencing) ... horse was pts on the roadside and his mate is stood with him :mecry:

    RIP fella

Thats very sad. Was it one of the coloured horses or privately owned ?

  16. yucky day in paradise here on waltons mountain. All the horses are lurking waiting for the fresh bales although there is a lot of grass to eat. I think they are just fed up with the rain but arnt we all.

Empathy to all those feeling sad with loss and encouragement to all those battling on. Pheobe ......new tiles have gone on your old house so 3 years after you moved there finally the leaks are being plugged !

  17. Im always uncomfortable seeing missing litters in the paper and on dog lost. They are usually stolen from a shed and others are left behind despite them being much loved pets that the children are crying over. However Ive seen enough hate campaigns to last a lifetime. They start of with one grudge filled person and get spread by people in armchair rescue desperate to actually be doing something. Before you know it people are being vilified on the say so of people you wouldnt trust to put your bins out in real life. There should be more action and more easily available police action. At the moment we have harrassment but it needs to be opened up to include the real repercussions of these despicable campaigns.

If the dogs get moved on due to people acting without evidence then theft is clearly an event that will have taken place.

  18. I have stayed away from things from a long time and was a lurker on facebook but to be honest I didnt really like the 'feel' of it so cancelled my membership quite a while ago.

I have been battling with depression for quite a while now and got fed up of myself moaning on the boards.

I am making myself post to try to get things back to normal, it is ok for a while but then I crash big time like I have this week.

sorry just realised I am rambling

One of the things about depression is that it makes you feel isolated. In fact this year is one of the hardest I can remember for everybody and Im sure depression has hit a lot more people than usual. My point is Loobie, that you are not as alone as you feel. I think most of us can empathise with you and I think you moan less than the rest of us. Stop being so hard on yourself is one of the rules of breaking depressions grip. We all crash in different ways. Yours is obvious to you because its you feeling it...but you wont be alone !!!
