  1. When we lost Erwine lots of people left lovely messages. This is one that was/is very touching to us and it is engraved on his casket. It seems appropriate for Mary Anne too:

A thousand hearts have been touched by you, two thousand arms have wanted to hold you

and a million tears have fallen for you.

Run free Mary Anne :mecry:

He is continuing to take our breath away with the amount of progress he is making. Next mission - learn to use stairs before Daddy is crippled for life by carrying his fat arse up and down the stairs

  3. As for PCSO training & responsibilities even David Blunkett, who introduced PCSO's & presumably approved or perhaps drafted the sort of job descriptions which have been quoted here is critical of the PCSO's actions in this case and says he, a blind man, would have at least tried to save the lad.

Blunkett is a politician so he is just out to increase his popularity.

The enquiry did not question the actions of the PCSO's even in the article you have posted about it quotes "Detective Chief Inspector Phil Owen, of Wigan CID, said it would have been "inappropriate" for PCSOs, who are not trained in water rescue, to enter the pond" so everybody is saying that the PCSO's have taken the correct course of action when they have arrived at the scene. I am certain things would have been different if there was sign of the child.

  4. "Probably" or "Most likely" not definitely. We will never know whether he might have been saved had he been pulled out a few minutes sooner. What is definitely acknowledged is that they did not enter the water and try to get poor little Jordan out of there - unlike the proper copper who presumably felt he had to at least try!

Yet you are happy to quote that they did actually stand and watch the child drown without doing anything without any evidence that they did and in fact all evidence points to there being no sign of life. The area of water is the size of a football field so how would they have known what area to start looking anyway?

You have never questioned why the parents allowed these children to be playing near a large area of water they are the guardians of the children it is their responsibility to ensure the safety of their children.

If they had just jumped in blindly, and without being trained on water rescues, we could well be looking even more of a tragedy with one or both of the PCSO's being killed would you prefer that to have happened? The Police Officer would have had more training and might well have been trained on water rescues.

  5. Having just seen pictures on the news of the area of water which is the size of a football field and when the PCSO's arrived there was no sign of life whatsoever in the water. They are not trained for water rescues which obviously present extreme danger as you do not know what is beneath the water that could endanger the rescuers. I am sure if there was any sign of life they would have been straight into the water.

  6. We have a NetGear router here.

Was initially easy to set-up. we did have problems with our internet connection and the wireless connection went squiffy but they have a fantastic support we got response quickly which was really easy to follow.

Had problems with a Belkin in the past and they were not as helpful.

  7. I gave up on Wheel of Time at book five

New Raymond E Feist is out soon

Robert Jordan books have kept getting better but having a big delay with the new one as he has a very rare form of cancer at the moment so he isnt able to do any writing but he is slowly recovering.

Raymond E Feist is good. You should Try Stephen Erikson - Malazan Series and Stephen Donaldson - Chronicles of Thomas Covenant.

  8. At the mo I'm reading the very last David Gemmel book ever :mecry: poor guy died last year so this one Troy- Fall of Kings will be it.

Yeah really sad news as he was a great author. I have this book on my pile of books to read. My understanding is that his wife actually wrote the majority of it but she co wrote a lot of his previous books with out being named so really hoping it is going to be similar to his previous books.

I am currently re reading Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series.

  10. But is it an acquired taste like soya milk?

I realised recently that Marmite is made by Unilever the norty animal testing company and so don't want to buy anymore once I've finished what we have - though we do still have two jars for some reason so I have a while to go.

Not too sure about the grit though

We are not buying marmite either due to the EVIL that is Unilever who make it.

To be honest it is slightly different. I have not noticed it being gritty. The only thing to do is to try it for yourself.

  11. Please send some Healing for one of our rats Maia who is very poorly at the moment. We think she arrived with us pregnant but has lost the babies. It might be some sort of infection but she is very flat and dehydrated.
