  1. That is such a wicked thing to do and I am sure there are vulnerable people who would be terrified after such a call
  2. I hope your consultant makes you laugh and makes you better you inspire so many people with your fabulous attitude and you are a real role model to me
  3. How long ago were you first diagnosed Griff ? I do hope the treatment does not involve a hospital stay xxx
  4. I am so used the house flooding we just put out buckets , mop it up and get on with it , I am not sure I would know what to do with myself with a waterproof home now !!!! I also have my christmas shopping delivery booked , its arriving on December 24th all the way from the UK and will be personally delivered by our daughter Aisling who is coming to visit us for xmas and new year its the first time we will have seen any family at xmas for 3 years so thats really nice
  5. Yantan, your journey homes sounds dreadful but I am glad you enjoyed your trip and I am looking forward to seeing your photos Its a few weeks earlier than normal and it is at the hotter end of the scale here , its the back end of the Monsoon season so the rain in the evenings is biblical ! it would literally knock you off your feet , it also means my non waterproof home often floods but I have a mop so thats all well !
  6. I think a lot of people are starting to worry and on Facebook people are now arguing that London is getting more security than A N Other location in England and that the Government does not care about them , lets be realistic here no-one unless they are involved directly in national security is really going to know whats going on behind the scenes and certainly the majority of whats discussed is kept secret not posted on flipping Facebook This is what the terriorists want , mass panic and people turning on each other without them even having to come there , I am buggered if I am going to start playing that game Yantan, bugger about your phone , as Griff says you may be able to locate it using the find my phone app , I do hope you get it back , have a fantastic holiday and look forward to seeing all your photos
  7. The Paris attacks are just so awful its beyond words , whats also awful is the beliefs I have seen from some people on Facebook today I had to delete a post I shared this morning ( in sympathy post ) because someone else started posting the most extreme "all muslims are terrorists and want to kill non muslims" shite on the post demanding that European governments need to defend borders and send Muslims "home" , flip that guys thinking over and you have ISIS ! I think I need to cull a few people from my Facebook friends list Then this evening I saw the awful news reports of the train crash in France thats killed more people , the reports say it was a test run with engineers on and not connected to the events of yesterday. I am guessing ( and this just a guess ) that it was traveling well over 125mph due to the way the wreckage is being shown , I have attended and investigated a number of train derailments over the years and I have never seen anything like it , such a tragic event so close to the tragic events of last night My own personal problem today is that my bloody dog has eaten one of my bras , as I am 4500km away from the nearest Marks and Spencers this is slightly more troublesome than it would be in the UK but luckily I have some spares packed away just for this eventuality , over the years many dogs here have eaten many of my bras so its best to be prepared
  8. They are very clever but the lack of an opposable thumb does cause them some issues !!! its why they are not posting selfies on Facebook The phone data is showing we have delivered a average of 20% increase in sterilisation levels in 17 zones since March 2015 , pretty impressive stuff
  9. Thanks everyone , still feeling very lucky and I am getting a stunning black eye ! There is no law about animal welfare , dangerous dogs , public safety or any angle that could be used to make the owner change the way the dog is kept but I am going to a meeting next week in the capital regards the draft animal welfare bill as Dogstar is now part of a new group that campaigning for change.
  10. the car it turned out became the least of my problems today the tuk tuk broke down this morning so I drove the car with its upside steering ( a bit odd but you get used to it ) to do my dog survey where we count the numbers of sterilised and unsterilised dogs using a phone app to plan future works and monitor how well we were doing in different zones during the surveys an owner invited me into his house to see his Dalmatian which was chained up in a kennel , this is a very common welfare problem especially with "pedigree" dogs and we give advice about why its dangerous to dogs and people and have bilingual leaflets so I went to see. I was at least 6 foot away and not even looking at the dog when it burst out of the kennel and launched itself at my head ripping my ear in 2 and giving me a black eye , I had a UK vet with me who was totally horrified and said she has never seen any thing like it the aggression it displayed with no warning at all or the sheer force of the attack , the owners had not had the dog rabies vaccinated either and the ear is a major bite risk for rabies but luckily I have all my pre exposure vaccinations in place I have spent the best part of the day in hospital and had to go into surgery this evening to have my ear repaired by a specialist the hospital had to bring up from Colombo There is no law that stops the owner continuing to keep his dog in that condition and no authority that we can report it too , Mark and some other team members will be visiting the owner to try and scare him him making changes but there is actually nothing we can do in real terms to help the dog or protect other people from being attacked I am feeling very very very lucky it was just my ear , a few inches more and it would have had my eye out
  11. evening all Cricket yesterday was great fun and Sri Lanka won , we were also on the TV dancing and waving our flags so everyone I know who watched the match as told me today my land cruiser is finally back from the garage after I think 7 weeks , is it fully repaired ??? well that would be a no , heres whats not quite right that I know of currently.... 20 % of the wheel arch is well just missing indicators don't work tyre that was sheered in the accident not repaired , spare still on and damaged tyre still on back AC system in bits in the back of the car my favourite issue ..... the steering wheel is on upside down !!! Winch is completely missing presumed lord only knows where We have brought a new tyre today , not sure if the insurance will pay for that or indeed any of the other issues , it certainly did not pay for the hire car !!!!! and this is with me being fully comp and the other driver admitting full liability Tomorrow I am going to find a garage to get the steering wheel sorted and hopefully the AC unit With all that said I am very very very happy to see the land cruiser back and hopefully we can get her fully sorted ASAP How everyone else doing ?
  12. Morning Alex Doctor Who was very good , I watched it this morning via iplayer on the firestick , its a 2 parter and as usual an impossible to get out of cliffhanger so I am excited for next week already Sam
  13. it is , I used to think Cricket was very dull but actually its a pretty good spectator sport and at £2.50 a ticket for an 8 hour match it seemed too good a chance to miss really Alex you made me laugh out loud about the poo ! Your footie match sounds pretty exciting as well , I used to watch Wimbledon play in London and the Wimbledon vs Liverpool matches were always very good
  14. Happy birthday Griff , I hope you find lots of lovely things to buy I am going to see Sri Lanka vs West Indies ODI in Colombo on my day off
  15. morning all , last 2 days of this months mobile clinics and I cannot wait till Sunday which is my day off whats everyone else up to today
  16. Edited to add the text I somehow managed to not include last night ! I am so pleased for you Suzeanna , enjoy your choccies
  17. Have a fantastic holiday and wow on your times and those distances , 30 miles is mindblowing ! oh dear what dreadful luck , do you have house hold insurance ? hopefully that will cover the costs of the leak and the flooring I know I am calling again tomorrow to see what can be done which realistically is nothing but it will make me feel better to call !!!!
  18. well done for not failing asleep during my post Did I mention the car crash we had last month when some one hit us head on after their brakes failed ? my car is still at the garage being repaired as its the inter monsoon season where we get random days of very heavy rain , the garage can't finish the respray unless they get 3 clear dry days , the insurance company won't let us have it back until its sprayed and they won't let us move it to a garage that has an indoor spraying area They have so far had it 5 weeks , I fear it maybe a few more weeks yet
  19. I am still a diet bore but now I can be a exercise bore as well as yesterday I was finally able to go back to the Gym , I think I might start drinking more water then I can get get the hat trick and be a water bore ***Boring Diet Alert**** Have now lost 4 pounds since I got back from the UK and I suspect I will shortly lose the will to live **End of Boring Diet Alert****
  20. Hi everyone , Snow I have no idea who the bloke is but you look very happy to have met him and I am pleased for you we should all try and do more of what makes us happy Jayne , I had a look on your Rough Runners website , it looked nutter than squirrel poo but very exciting Jazz sorry you op has not gone as well as you would have liked Same old same old here in Sri Lanka , I am on a diet as I have been getting a porky squirrel since I buggered my knee , this means two things I am now boring ( more so than normal ) as being a diet makes me a total and utter bore , it also means I am obsessed with food and spend many hours day dreaming about cake
  21. This month I am a flying Squirrel Yesterday we arrived in the UK and tomorrow morning we head to Porto for the Dogs Trust Conference Sunday back to the UK and following Thursday back to Sri Lanka
