  1. Peaches has start to show evidence of wanting to run. i don't have the courage nor to be honest the security away from a busy road to let her off lead. i just bought a extendable lead which i am going to put on her when we get to the field. i can't wait to see if she starts to run, she is so cute, as i call it, going tongues and tail!

  2. thanks for all the tips and advice. i am not worried but since she had such a rotten start it would be nice to see her enjoying herself playing.

i think the treat ball would be a nice idea since she does enjoy her kibble! she has a kong but apart from licking it she doesnt seem to understand what else to do with it and ignores it.

  3. probably is early days still, it just doesnt feellike it :D i feellike she has always been here.

if i try and tease her she just looks scared/unsure.

if i go down the bottom of the garden with her and say come on! in a exited way she charges up the path tail and tongue going heading for the back door, she doent slow till she gets in the front room.

i have tried it going the other way but she just sits and looks at me.

  4. Peaches is a happy little dog but she has no idea what to do with toys, you wave one at her and she looks at you as if to say what am i supposed to do with that.

has anyone got any suggestions on what i could do to teach her how to play, i would love to play fetch etc with her but atm i can't even get her to carry a toy in her mouth.

i had thought of rubbing chicken all over some of them to see if she would get the idea.

  5. She is gorgeous, so glad you found such a delightful companion. Where on the Mendips do you walk?

we call it burrington but i not sure what its proper name is. if you ever see a bunch of loons dressed up in weird clothing hitting each other with fake weapons you can be sure i am not to far behind.

  6. I found the cable and got the good pictures from hubbies phone!

She has settled in well, we had some hiccups the first week where she wouldnt eat. i genuinely think she didn't like what was offered as i have switched her from a fish to turkey kind and she loves it.

true to a cav she follows me everywhere and even if i go to the loo she will sit outside the door staring at it till i come out.

we finally got her a crate as once she was settled she started scratching at the kitchen door to come out and more to stop her from keeping hubby awake i slept downstairs on the sofa bed with her for a couple of nights. she is much happier now and goes in her crate with out trouble.

it is lovely to have someone so obviously happy to see me when i crawl out of bed in the morning and if i have been out to the shops.

she was a bit wary of hubby for a while and i think it was just because she did'nt spend much time with him but after the first weekend when he was at home all day she is just as happy with him.

having her has helped me as much as it has her as i am going out everyday, normally at about 6:30am when we take hubby to catch his bus then carry on for our walk, i must admit i don't understand why she seems much happier when we are going home then when we are leaving. maybe its because she knows then when we get back from our walks is when she gets fed  .

she gets another walk at night and she has access to the garden most of the day as the weather is so nice i tend to leave the back door open. i did worry about what would happen if i did'nt have the door open but she has this way of looking at me which says mummy i need to go out and i get up and open it for her to go out. (can dog's be telepathic?)

she spends most of her day either asleep on my footstool in front of me or on the sofa (also asleep) and there has been instances where she is asleep on one cushion on the sofa and me and hubby are squashed up on the other (its a 2 seater sofa).

i really could ramble on about her all day but i wouldnt want to bore anyone :D . we went out to the mendips a couple of weekends ago and when my mate gets round to sending me the pictures i will post them up on here.

FYI i love her to bits and i am really REALLY happy!!

  7. Is this for an adult dog or a puppy?

If it's a puppy then Gwen Bailey's Perfect Puppy book is a good read and some toys for teething will be handy.

A crate may prove very useful but I think you were already planning on one of those for camping etc.

Depending on where the dog is coming from, I would definitely set aside the money for microchipping if he/she is not already done :)

the rescue says they chip as standard but i will be asking.

  8. good news and bad.

we went to the dogs home and i asked to talk to someone and they said have a wander round and if you see any you like then bring the number off the card to us and we can tell you more about them. which wasnt exactly what i was after. thre was lots of rotties and staffs jack russels and gsd's. there was even 2 lurchers one gorguss one that could leap 5ft from a cold start.

non of the ones i liked the look of would be any good for us, so we came home :(

    GOOD NEWS!

i had a phone call while i was gone and someone has a cav for me! i rang back and left a message so now its a case of playing phone tag.

i would be more exited about this but the valium is still in my system.

part of me is glad i took it as it meant i couldnt get carried away at the dogs home and start bringing them all home.

  9. i bottled getting on the bus, when it came to it i just couldnt do it. hubby is calling us a taxi (bless him) he says my hapiness is more important than money. one small problem i just downed a valium. so things could be intersting for the rest of the day.

  10. aaahh sorry i am being thick again aren't i. ok will vote anyway lol.

oh and i never heard them called a scotch egg before.

why do men name there p****'s?

cause they like to be on first named terms with the thing that makes 99% of all their decisions.

  11. ok i can't for the life of me work out how she got scotch eggs into that situation.... and i am not sure i want to.

yes we are off to the dogs home in the morning.

why would them not having paypal affect their auction nomination?

  12. can't sleep to wound up.

am i missing something i can't see teckels on the nominations page?

current plan is to bus to local train station and catch train into town, i like trians :D they have loo's on.
