  1. Are you a wannabe thespian? A secret star in the making? Would you be tempted by a chance to appear on television with one of Britain’s best-loved comedy actors? Well, grab your greasepaint and memorise those lines because Oldies Club is offering you the chance of a lifetime!

Thanks to the generosity of actor and dog-lover Martin Clunes, Oldies Club is holding a very special auction. The highest bidder wins a fantastic prize: a walk-on role in the next series of ITV’s award winning drama ‘Doc Martin’!

If you win, you and a guest of your choice will spend a day in Cornwall’s beautiful Port Isaac with the crew and cast of Doc Martin. Not only will you be appearing in the show itself, you and your guest will get a rare glimpse of how TV is made with a tour of the production facility and a chance to meet some of the actors.

So if you or a loved one yearns to be a star on the small screen, remember to start bidding as soon as the auction opens on Thursday 12 February! You’ll have until the evening of Sunday 22 February to get your bids in. The start of the auction, along with further details, will be announced on www.oldies.org.uk.

As well as the chance to win a fabulous day out, you will be helping older dogs into new homes with every bid as 100% of the auction proceeds go to Oldies Club.

If you’d like to be send a reminder about the auction nearer the time, please click here.

  2. I apologise, I'm so rude and I was sure I had posted (it must be my age :blush02: ) I couldn't get pics as my battery charger is kernackered but Dex would like to thank doggy.lover for his lovely presesents, he has chased his balls and attempted to eat the biggest chew in the world  (but Fleur nicked his porky flavoured rope), Fleur loves her ball as it is not heavy and has driven me to distraction squeaking her toy - treats were well appreciated so thank you Fleur's SS. Piglet and Pooh have shredded their magazines and eaten treats, they donated their tinkle ball to Bubbles - thanks Peachy, where did you get that dried Kiwi, went down a storm with all the furries. Bel and Roxy love their carroty patch play mat, they wait for me to put all the carrots in the holes then pull them out and hop around with one in their mouth (the other is reserved as a spare) and that lovely food.

Thank you all my SS :flowers:

My local pet supplies shop has a fab stock of all things yummy for small furries - it's a little family run place and they have some lovely things. They had dried mango and some other fruits as well as the kiwi we sent to you. Next time I'm in there, I'll grab them a few more treats and post them off to you :)

  3. One of the best threads ever! Well said Sarah :flowers:

I've had the pleasure of meeting some of the nicest, warmest, most funny people I know via the Refuge and it's how I managed to get more involved with Oldies Club. There are many of you I've yet to meet but that's something to look forward to for the next social event!

Thank you Rick for bringing us all together

  4. Good idea, I always think things like how the keyboard feels and the hinges work are so important with laptops. If you decide you want a bigger screen, then you should still be able to get away with a pretty nice cheap machine as you only want it for basics. Pingu's right: for a full size laptop, Dell are hard to beat at the mo.

I bought a new laptop a couple of weeks ago. I wanted a smaller screen size so opted for a 13.3". I had a 12" Asus before which was ace! This time, I got it down to a Dell laptop or a Toshiba one. I fiddled for ages with the keyboard and hinges (because I'm a bit of a geek) and decided on the Toshiba one.

As many will have probably already warned, don't ask anyone in PC World for help or advice because they are totally unhelpful and just shamelessly read from the couple of lines of blurb on display. They are embarrassing to the world of sales and ensure that PC World has the ethos of Argos but with floor staff  Do your research at home first.
