  1. This boy has now found his forever home . Thanks everyone.
  2. Cross-posted with permission. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I volunteer for SHWA(UK) and here is Deisels story... Diesel has been awaiting an assessment from SHWA(UK) for two months (yes we are that busy!) Last night I had a call from his distressed owner stating that her husband was going to have Diesel PTS!! The owner believed that Diesel was a Sibe but when he turned up for his assessment tonight, at my house he is definatley a Malamute. Diesel is a two year old, neutred, bi-eyed one blue one brown, fully vaccinated male. He has lived with a female Lhaso Apso at his current home. If he was a sibe he would have passed his assessment with flying colours, he took to our neutered male straight away and they had a good play around the garden. His nails were really long when he arrived so I offered to trim the for him, he lay down and rolled over so I could get a better hold of his foot and was happy for me to cut them. Hes lovely natured and I really want to help his owners find a good home for him. They didnt really understand what they had let themselves in for and dont really understand the breed at all. If any rescue can help with fostering him or adopting him then please can you email me on [email protected] Here are a few pics, sorry they are not very good he obviously had not played with another dog for a long time. *Clickable images http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z158/pi...r/Diesel002.jpg http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z158/pi...r/Diesel003.jpg http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z158/pi...r/Diesel005.jpg Thank you Gemma Riley SHWA(UK) Norfolk area co-ordinator ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Due to him having a blue eye, he isn't a Malamute, he's a husky/mal cross, therefore neither of the breed rescues can take him. Is there anyone that has knowledge of these breeds that could offer him a home or a rescue in a position to help this boy? If so, please contact Gemma directly on the email address above. Thankyou
  3. I've not really been on here much but I know that tracey.s. is doing some fundraising for this little girl and some of you would like to 'meet' her, so here she is... and hello from me. Please meet Amber She's one of 7 puppies that were handed into Pups and Muts care at the beginning of December. While her litter mates are nearly ready to go to their new homes, Amber will be staying on here for a while as a foster. With hindsight, she had her first fit when she was around 5 weeks old. She was really quiet, reluctant to walk and not interested in food one evening. The vet suspected she may have had a poorly tum and by the morning she was back to her normal self so we just put it down as that. The first fit we witnessed was when she was 7 weeks old. It lasted for a few minutes then she was out cold for the rest of the night. We were told to monitor her. She didn't have a fit for a couple of days, then fitted on and off continously for a couple of days. She was put on medication to try and get them under control which touch wood (bar one fit the other night) it seems to have done. The biggest threat to her at the moment is that she has fluid on her lungs that she's inhaled while she's been fitting. The antibiotics seem to be kicking in though as she's moving it when she coughs. The vets have told us that her prognosis isn't great as she's fitting at such a young age. There could be a number of factors causinng her fits. She's had blood tests done that show a raised urea level which could indicate a liver shunt. She won't be able to have the test to see if it is a liver shunt until she's 12 weeks old. It could also be a birth/brain defect, a trauma to the head or various other things. I wrote all this out the other day- an update. She had her second vaccination yesterday. She also had valium to try and stop her fitting because of the vaccine. She seemed fine last night, but this morning, she had a pretty big fit lasting a few mins. She's been out of it all day, I managed to wake her up for long enough to get her meds down her but other than that she's un-responsive to anything. She's also swallowed a load of foam again, making her really chesty and rattle when she breathes . If any one could spare any positive thoughts for this baby they would be appreciated.
