  1. TOBY is a lovely Staffie and he is aged 1 & a half years, he is great with all other dogs and children but IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CATS. Poor Toby was born with a deformed back leg but that does not hinder him in any way at all and he can whizz around without a problem. The poor dog thinks he is a lap dog and wants to sit on your lap all the time and he does not seem to realise that he is a heavy lump LOL He is a very smart little guy and would lick you to death, he is just a very happy dog who loves to play with a ball. He will be Neutered, Vaccinated and Microchipped before he goes to his new home. ATTENTION: Due to The Control Of Dogs Regulations 1998 this boy will have to be on a lead and muzzled at all times when out in a Public place in Ireland.
  2. LAKOTA is a 3 year old Siberian Husky and she is very striking in her appearance and she seems to have the perfect temperament, she will sit and give the paw and will also lie so somebody has put training into this lovely dog and she is very good on the lead and is learning to keep her kennel clean. She has had a very bad break to her front leg that has never been seen to and will have Arthritis later on in life. NOT SUITABLE FOR CATS! This is one fine dog and is a pleasure to deal with all ready and will make a smashing pet for somebody. She will be Spayed, Vaccinated and Microchipped before she goes to her new home.
  3. SULLIIVAN is a lovely Jack Russell Type Terrier and he is 3 years old, he came into us in bad condition and very nervous but he has gained confidence but is more suited to a home where the children are 10 years and over, he is a playful little fellow and is all right with female dogs but has to be fed on his own. NOT SUITABLE FOR CATS! He is lead trained and is good to keep his kennel clean. He will be Neutered, Vaccinated and Microchipped before he goes to his new home.
  4. Murphy is one very lucky dog his new owner flew over from Switzerland to collect him and brought him back to live there and Murphy has settled in great and also thanks is due to European Greyhound Network for the home check
  5. The latest on Misty! Dont you think her eye looks well now?? And yet another......... Well a lady has to show off her fashion, see the lovely Pink & Purple Head collar she got?? I turned her out into the field this morning and all I could do was laugh at her apart from the time she lost her footing and fell She done her trot and full gallop, she reared and flung herself in all directions and gave out the odd old fart as well She is a lovely little mover and would have done well in shows. She is now looking for a nice home when I get her details together!
  6. Well here is the very Brave little Mare I collected MISTY yesterday morning. A full frontal! Her good side! And her lovely bandage! She has to be stabled for 14 days and we have to take her stitches out in 10-14 days. She was so good when I got her out of the horse box and she walked up the road to Violets and she was very good with a couple of cars that had to stop and she put her tail high up and her head perky (as all good mares do) and wanted to do a wee trot to show off her lovely bandage They gave her great praise at the hospital and said what a good Pony she was, very well behaved She is on Antibiotics and some pain relief, lets hope she will continue to be good I would like to thank Violet for the use of her stable for the next 2 weeks. To all the lovely staff at Fethard Equine Hospital. And a very special THANKS to the Lovely Kind Young Lady that is taking care of Misty's Hospital Bill, I cannot mention her name as she wishes to remain anonymous, she is a Horsey Person. To all other people who have donated money towards her Hospital Bill, I have contaed you all by email as money was donated by PayPal which I will return to you all! Misty says NEIGH Thanks to you all as do us all at Cottage Rescue

  8. Cottage Rescue got a new pony in on Thursday. She is a gorgeous little Welsh pony who we have named Misty. She has had a horrible injury to her left eye that is going to need surgery. We had our horse vet out yesterday and she looked Misty over...the injury probably happened a while ago and was never treated which caused her eye to start dying off slowly. There isnt much of the eye left now and it is going to require surgery to have the remaining eye removed and the eyelids stitched closed. Here is a picture of what is left of the eye at the moment...the black part is the remaining eyeball. And here is her good eye! This pony must have been in severe pain when this eye got damaged and it was never attended to. Say Hello to MISTY MISTY is a Welsh Pony aged 8 years and she is 11.2" high and she came into us on Thursday 13/03/2008 as a result of a Cruelty Complaint from a member of the public that was very concerned about her eye. She has had a horrible injury to her left eye that is going to need surgery. We had our Horse Vet (Pia) out yesterday and she looked Misty over...the injury probably happened a while ago and was never treated which caused her eye to start dying off slowly. There is'nt much of the eye left now and it is going to require surgery to have the remaining eye removed and the eyelids stitched closed. She will have to go into a local Equine Hospital and be put under gas to have the rest of the eye removed. We were quoted a price of €1,200 for the removal of a whole eye...and chances are to remove a partial eye might be more costly. They won't be able to give us an exact price until they have seen her next week. We put a plea into the clinic to give us a reduced price because she is a Rescue Pony and we are a Registered Charity, but they can't make any promises until they have seen her. Cottage Rescue never outright asks for donations to help with an animal, but this time we are. We would be VERY GRATEFUL for any donations towards Misty's surgery. Anyone who has questions about her or the surgery before giving a donation can ask us...we will answer anything we can. She is a very sweet little mare and we are working at the moment to put some weight on her, treat her for lice and she has been passported and vaccinated. Her appointment is being confirmed today 15/03/08 for the operation and we will update as soon as we know! So we are asking YOU to Donate Money towards MISTY's operation which will be carried out at The Equine Hospital, Fethard, Co Tipperary. We will keep you updated on her progress with pics and details and also how much the operation will cost. Please help us to help her! Thank you for taking the time to read about MISTY
  9. HARRY is a lovely 18 month old Greyhound, he is a very bouncy happy go lucky dog full of the joys of Spring. He is getting on well with other dogs all ready but is defiantly TOO KEEN ON CATS! He will be Neutered, Vaccinated and Microchipped before he goes to his new home.
  10. BOB is a smashing White and Brindle Greyhound and he will be 2 years old in March, he slightly timid but very friendly, and is way more good looking than his pic shows he was very attached to his trainer (which is a very nice thing) and it took a few days for him to get used to the ways here at the rescue. He likes his own space so he may be more suited to being the only dog but we will try him with other dogs in the coming weeks. He will be good with older children and he has been used to being around a small dog but HE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CATS ! He will be Neutered, Vaccinated and Microchipped before he goes to his new home.
  11. AJAX is a lovely White and Black Greyhound and he will be 3 years old in July, he is a very nice dog full of affection and quite a good boy and HE IS SUITABLE TO TRAIN TO CATS. 12. BONNIE is a lovely Greyhound and she is just over 2 years old, she is a very sweet dog, she loves her kissed and cuddles and always has a waggy tail. She was found abandoned on the side of the road injured with a fractured pelvis that she is now on crate rest for the next 6 weeks and all her sores and mage will be healed by then and she will have nice weight put on. She is on Antibiotics and Pain Killers for the moment as she has a skin infection and she is in pain but still her sweet personality glows! 14. ALFIE is a lovely 10 month old Terrier Cross, he is a lovely friendly boy who will require House Training and some Lead Training, he is very sociable dog and is well used to there dogs and Greyhounds. He will be Neutered and Vaccinations and Microchipping will be up to the new owner.
  15. SAMMY is a lovely big 2 year old Greyhound and he measures 30†at the shoulder, he is a very gentle type dog who loves to horse around and he can be fun loving but a wee bit strong on the lead at first and then he just toddles along as all Greys do. But beware he is a big boy. He would be not be suitable with cats as he is keen on smaller dogs as well so he is best suited to where there will be another big dog and he is learning to keep his kennel clean. He is Neutered, Vaccinated and Microchipped!
