  1. I'm somewhere in between...I find it sickening the amount of people who just use it as another form of contreception (sorry can't spell today!!). A friend of mine came to stay with me in order to go to hospital (away from her home town!!) for an abortion. I wanted to be a supportive friend so of course I was! She only told me afterwards that is was a very late one, because she had been too busy to do anything about it earlier..and it was her 3rd!!!!! Plus the evening after she was trying to get me to go out clubbing with her!!!! Needless to say I'm no longer friends with her.

  2. I know this is a very odd topic to be discussing and whilst some people find it hilariously funny , some others may find it more uncomfortable. Its not a subject that I normally talk about publicly but I felt mentioning the product was relevant in the P&G thread this morning

I do find it funny (but only cos the clowns on here make me laugh  )....but mainly extreamly interesting, and thanks for highlighting it. Gave me something to think about. :flowers: It's always been something I'm uncomfortable with (enviromentally not phyisically!!! )

  3. Cromwell has had it for years, I have him on Supadog Senior and raw mince (can't remember but you know the stuff from PAH). BUT that said he does everyday clean the others bowls and they are all on working dog food (similar make up to active dog food) and so far we've not had a relapse for months!

He's the same as Charliegoo, very active (even at 12...sorry to tell you!!) and does suffer from terrible nerves but Colitis has never really effected him other than the odd day of discomfort!

  4. You are not allowed to carry anything in the ring be it toy or treat. Some of the unaffliated shows may let you train in the ring but you definatley wont be able to at a KC show.

Don't worry though you'll be fine.

Thanks I did think as much! Oh well we are a while off entering yet so I'll ask Peter how to start fazing it out soon.

  5. Not so much a ponder as a question! I'm not ready to take part in a class yet, but as my instructor is on his way back from crufts (he was judging the flyball), can anyone tell me if I will be allowed to carry Sidney's ball while doing the course? I've been training him with it (ball obcessed that one!) and want to know if I have to faze it out at some point (not looking forward to trying that!!!)

    Thanks :flowers:

  6. Yep, it was a first that they've actually had a proper flyball person judging it - usually an agility judge is handed a whistle and shoved into the ring after a brief explanation of what to do. Although did you see on the telly how the first race of the final didn't actually show the result? That was because Nuneaton actually won it, and cos it's all done by eye, he made the wrong call (apparently), and that's why it wasn't shown on the telly!

Our next show is at Easter at our training ground - the PODS usually come to it, so you may find yourself entered in a starter team if he's up to it :ninja:

Most of the dogs in BFA flyball are faster than the crufts dogs, as they don't have to stop and wait at the box :)

I could easily see how mistakes are made, it's so fast!

Easter!!!!!OMG that's not long away!!!!! I'd love to come and take part, but will definately try and come and watch if I don't! Will do Sid good to come and watch anyway!!!

  7. Kimba isn't that fast either, he tends to take too long getting the ball out of the box, he tries to suck it out first and if that doesn't work he stamps on it!!

  That I would love to see!!!!!!

Sidney hasn't got as far as getting the ball himself yet...I think that might take a bit for him to figure out!! We've been doing agilty training at home with some horse jumps! He's getting alot better and sorted out that I actually want him to go OVER the jumps and not around them!!!!!!!!! He has a pretty good jump...but does get tired of it quickly, his attention span isn't that long, esp when the other dogs are playing!!!!

  8. You'll have to let me know next time you are doing a show?

Also did you see Peter judging the flyball? Knew he was going to crufts to judge...didn't realise he was doing the finals!!! It was great fun to watch, but no way will Sidney ever be that fast!!!!!!!!!!

  9. See that's why I enjoyed myself so much...no one was taking it too seriously!! I was worried that Sidney would be frowned on cos he is a rather silly dog, and he does love to play! But they just laughed at him when he jumped over the fence in order to get to the 2 dogs that were having a play!!!

Sounds like where you go is just as relaxed! I think Kimba is getting to be a real pro by the sounds of it!! You must take some photo's next time you go!!!

I really can't wait to go again, my friend is coming with her 2 dogs next time but her's are perfect clicker trained dogs...so I think I might be shown up by her!!!!!!

  10. If you fancy a drive over to Cheshire, you can come and train with us until they are training again

I wish I could, money is too tight at the moment!! ! :( Would be great fun to see the professionals in action though!

thanks for the training tip, had great fun on the beach yesterday!! My friend nearly broke all her fingers trying to hold Sidney when I ran away from him (with the other dogs looking extreamly confused!!), his recall is really very good, but I do worry about him racing alongside other dogs! He does love to play and I'm not sure if he might just join in with them!!!!

  11. Boooo Flyball is cancelled for the next few weeks cos of KC going round, and them going to Crufts!! Really miserable cos I enjoyed it so much!!

Anyway! Does anyone have any good training tips we can be going on with? Aside from the retrieving which Sidney does permantly anyway, is there anything else we can work on?

  12. Similar but not the same! Cooper has a rash on his neck and I've just been using boiled water to clean it then Aloe Vera gel. (From Holland and Barrett 99% Aloe Vera), apparently anything with less strength isn't worth using!

    Hope she feels better!

    Jacky

  13. Wellllllllllllllll..........

    He was fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :partytime:

I'm so proud of my little man. He spent the first few minutes extreamly confused and didn't get what the fuss was about, but we managed to progress in 1 hour from Sidney finding anyway possible to NOT jump over the jumps, to him just doing it cos he wanted to!! We got as far as 4 jumps and the ball being roll from the thingy (okay forgot to ask the technical words!!), we decided to stop there as he had done so much, and was getting abit bored then! He kept looking over at the dogs playing and wanted to join in!! AND I was knackered..you didn't tell me I had to run around as well!!!!

So then Peter asked if I'd ever tried agility with him? I said yes once and he was useless!!! So we did some of that as well!!! We managed the tunnel (oh he didn't like that first time...but after that running through it like a rat!!!) he did the jumps very well and them even managed the A frame a couple of times (after alot of tempting!!)

Peter says as Sidney is so ball obsessed he's very easy to encourage, he said on agility I'm allowed to train him with a ball (food doesn't do it for Sid) so he think's I should work with him on that as well!! He laughed and said you don't see many dogs like Sidney doing flyball!! I think he meant it in a nice way!!!

So they are happy for me to go back next week and join in the team training sessions!! I know he's got along way to go, but from what we saw I think he's a bit of a natural (well got to try some work with other dogs nearby so actually I'll reserve judgement on that!!!! ).

Thanks for encouraging us to go, I really enjoyed it and what a lovely bunch of people!! :flowers:

  14. Sooooooooo excited just spoken to Peter (your're right Jayne he's lovely!!)and me and the Furry Freak (sidney) are going on Wednesday for a trail session!!! Really looking forward to it, sounds like it's something Sid will really enjoy!!!
