  1. Okay this isn't going to help much. But since I've been in temporary accommodation (my mum and dads granny flat!!) my lot have had to cope with sleeping downstairs. (It's a one room barn conversion with a ladder up to the gallery bedroom so they physically can't get up the stairs). The first 2 nights I slept on the sofa with them, then I left them to it. 3 of them were absolutely no problem, Cromwell sat at the bottom of the stairs for about 30 minutes then realised it was more comfortable on his bed so soon settled. Tiz had always choosen to sleep downstairs anyway, and Cooper was happy as long as he had something to bury himself under!

The problem was Sidney!! I've tried and tried to get him to settle but he would just bounce at the bottom of the stairs and then cry like a stuck pig! I admit I gave up after 3 nights and carry him up the stairs (not an easy feat!!!!). But the last couple of weeks for 3 or 4 nights Sidney has not sat at the bottom of the stairs at bed time waiting to be carried up, so I've left him in his basket and he hasn't whined at all in the night. So because he's decided he wants to stay with the others I'm letting him.

When I move mine will still be sleeping downstairs cos I sleep so much better now!!!

Anyway my point is...you may find they decide they want to sleep with the 'pack' but until then...I've got absolutely no suggestion!  God I'm good!!!!

  2. :GroupHug: I do try and enourage people to use you....I myself have the most fanastic dog coats that my boys are proud to wear (half the price of other places...and they are actually waterproof unlike some that pretend to be!!)

Think I might just have a little wander over to your pages to have another lookie!!!

  4. Sidney has developed a rather annoying and puzzling behavour over the last few weeks.

Previously when I lived at the farm he was never on lead as there was no need (all walks were basically straight from car to beach or round the land). Anyway since being at my mum and dads he has become abit territorial (sp)over their garden! In the mornings I walk them 20 foot up the lane (on lead) and then have a 60 acre field I walk round (off lead then), but the last few mornings as soon as i put the lead on Sidney he starts to scream and leap! He pulls as though there is someone outside the gate he wants to get to....in the process making the other 3 excited too! This morning he walked the whole 20 foot up the lane on his back legs, screaming and pulling like a steam train! The instant we got to the field he bolted off as if to go back into the lane! Luckily his recall is excellent and he came straight back...but it scared me cos if a car had been coming he'd of been hit!

I don't know if he's thinking the lane and field are 'his' to guard..or if he'd seen someone passing earlier and was still thinking they were there? I'm moving house in a couple of weeks and every morning they will be walked through the village so I really want to try and sort this out before then (don't want my new neighbours cursing my wailing poodle!!!! )

Any ideas or is he just insane?

He gave up, Lynn his owner said he's soul left his eyes and she knew it was time. He went with dignity (our horse vet is an angel) and is now resting in one of the fields and will have a willow tree planted near him. Vet thinks he had a stroke or blood clot cos even though he had bad arthritis he was only 20 so really too young to go down hill that fast.

Enjoy being able to run and kick once more George, will miss you. :flowers:

  7. Well he's been on the glucosmine (sp!) for a few weeks now, and I've been really impressed with his improvement!

BUT last night we did a bigish walk and he did alot of swimming and today he's pretty stiff! :( I think I've come to the conclusion that it's the swimming that is doing the harm! At the weekend he had 2 very long walks but no swimming and he was fine!! It's a shame but I'm going to have to put a stop to it and see if it helps! I don't want to cos he really really loves it, but if it's causing him pain I'll have to! :mecry:
