  1. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU Not too happy .... lads are just taking me to the pub, although they don't want me to leave nor me but it was only 'temporary' for 2 weeks, 5th May I can't believe I have got a PROPER JOB!!
  2. Thank you for that ... you were right!! Had an "unknown" call on mobile today and it was a lady who is currently on holiday who had been talking to last week's job lady and had highly recommended me! She (Head of Physiotherapy) is looking for a P.A. and had been onto personnel, who gave her my details. Apparently they are not really allowed to do this without first advertising the job but she chatted up the personnel guy, who said to her you had better be quick because Jan is applying for all jobs on the NHS I have had the draft details sent over and she has invited me for an "informal" chat because she is not allowed to call it an interview without first advertising the job .... so will be going back to NHS Walsall next Friday 24th Of course, will keep you posted. Jan x
  3. Thanks for all the lovely comments Well she told me to keep looking on the web-site and so I did and yesterday a new one "popped up"!! In the same department for the position of Senior Administrator, so have applied on line for that one and the application is to be sent to the same woman! O.K. slightly lower salary but still much better than the temping money I am on now but at least it would be a step in the door Also I think my current boss (who is lovely and so are the rest of the group) is getting a bit worred because he has asked his Head of Service if he can sort out the permanent position and gave me a wink Well it was a two week assignment and I have been there since early May! He asked me if I had told the interview panel he called me Radar? His reply, I anticipate everything before he asks me to do it = he said I would probably have got an extra point for that Jan's goal ... to be in a permanent position before Xmas!! Will keep you posted. Jan x
  4. Thanks Helly .. in a temporary position at the moment and have been since May, which should have been for two weeks but really need to get something permanent sorted out now
  5. As I have posted before about my various NHS interviews, I thought I would just update you ... Had my final interview yesterday for a PA job at the NHS and had to do yet more tests and then had an hour long interview with the two people I would be working for, which I think went o.k. They promised to ring either yesterday afternoon or this morning. I had already decided to give up!! I had been feeling a bit down with interviews and everything but after the call, which was at 6pm and went on for an hour, I feel positively high although I didn't get the job! She said I had been "pipped at the post" into 2nd place cause apparently they score you on a points system and this girl had previously worked for the NHS so had got a few extra points! But what made me feel really good was that she said I was highly employable, they were in no doubt that I could handle the job and my interview and tests had been very good. She told me to keep applying at the NHS because with the restructuring etc., they have quite a few jobs about. She said she felt really terrible telling me because they had so wanted to employ me from that first interview and did say if this other person turned the position down they would be straight on to me! At least I now know what the tests are all about so don't think it will be so daunting next time. I have already applied for another couple and am feeling positively on a "high" today! I know now that I can handle the interviews etc., and was just brill to have some good feedback. I wished all employers had the decency to get back to you when they have promised. Anyway off to search through the NHS web-site again. Jan x
  6. Thank's Jacqui I will have a dig about when i get home!!
  7. Still permanent job searching, although am currently temping, so not all is bad!! Anyway any NHS peeps out there? I have applied for a Personal Assistant position and so far have carried out a Powerpoint Test, taking minutes at a meeting and now they have come back to me and I have to do a half hour administration test on Monday! This is a new one on me, although must admit does not sound too scarey like the minuting a meeting test!!! Any ideas greatly appreciated? Thank you. Jan
  8. Congratulations - I saw your pup and he was gorgeous Eddie managed to get a 5th in the Best Broken Coated (not bad for a big scruffy terrier)
  9. Another little update on my Ed who doesn't do big dogs, especially entire ones!! Hope you are all sitting comfortably because Ed met two of my friends boxers today (Ed doesn't usually do bouncy boxers); an entire male (his worst hate whatever the breed!!) and her girlie boxer. They were in the back of her car outside our house in two cages (with the boot up) and so I put Ed's lead on and walked him gradually past the car in a VERY large circle and then proceeded to get closer and what did Ed do, well Ed walked on a loose lead and then got fed up and sat at the back of the car not taking a blind bit of notice of the boxers who were far more interested in him Jan getting a bit confident now so .... Sal got her two out of the car and we walked up and down our road, side by side and eventhough the other two were trying to get a bit too close to Ed (for Jan's comfort!!), Ed was totally 150% unreactive eventhough at one point the girlie had her nose a bit too close to his bottom Little bit more proud of my boy today and another step in the right direction - well done Ed P.S. Have also now been walking without the dogmatic for about a month now although it is always in my pocket for GSD approaching emergencies
  10. Thanks for all your advice. Just sprayed it with Savlon antiseptic spray and it seems to have done the trick! Will mention it at our yearly trip to the vets for his booster on Tuesday.
  11. Morning all Eddie has starting to lick his paw between his two middle toes from yesterday. He was chasing bees/wasps most of the day and am wondering if when he air-snapped at one it may have fell on his paw? I have tried to have a look but with very thick black fur it is proving almost impossible! He did actually growl at me (for the first time) when trying to look yesterday. He is not unhappy in himself and eating etc., but it must be driving him mad cause I know it is me!! We are off to the vets for his booster on Tuesday so will obviously mention it to the vet if it is still causing him some aggrevation. Just wondered if our wise fugees had any ideas of what I could do in the meantime? Thank you. Jan & Ed
  12. I think I have just fallen in love with Lottie - definitely my type of dog !
  13. Mags you are bang on! Ed originally came from Ashton Pound approx. 2 years ago! Here is my gorgeous Irish Ed ! Do you remember him?? In Ashton Pound and in bed with his girlfriend Polly Collie
  14. wait for it ....... PLAYING with ANOTHER DOG and it wasn't our Pollie Collie Whilst I was off at the vets last night with Polly and her limp OH took Ed out for a walk in the wonderful British weather Ed has been progressively better with other dogs (T-Touch - yes it does work) and even I have been walking him regularly without his dogmatic because he does walk to heel beautifully but can sometimes be reactive towards certain dogs, so to be honest it is always in my pocket but "touchwood" has stayed there! The other dog in question is one we see quite regularly, a staffie/lurcher type cross, girlie and when we first used to see her "Holly" Ed would react. Over the past few months I have been bumping into them on our walk and after a couple of walks we have been able to walk side by side with no reaction whatsoever from Ed. Well last night Lee was walking with our now friend and Molly, who is always "off-lead" along the canal and I asked Lee how Ed had behaved and he said that he had let Ed off as well :o (who strangely has a fantastic recall and won't let you out of his sight) and Ed had behaved like a perfect gentleman and had played racey chasey (nicely) with her and then they had mooched together side by side and in all honesty was not at all bothered by her I would just like to say a huge "thank you" to Lynne because without her help, on-going training and guidance, we would definitely have never got this far on our own A small step for some but a HUGE step for Eddie
  15. janeddie

    Yipee!

Congratulations - I hope you enjoy your new job
  16. When I asked what the timescales were like etc., they said they hoped to have it all sorted and decisions made within the next 14 days, so just taking it day by day, although I go away on the 4th September, which I did mention to them when asked They did say that the "successful" candidate will be asked to go back in to meet with the Board of Executives (me knows 3 out of 4 of them!!) - will keep you all posted but I do hate all this WAITING
  17. Thanks for all your good wishes Shops ... well worked in Lichfield up until Feb (made redundant) and was in shop heaven!! Worked in a college since then in the middle of no-where ( i.e. no shops) apart from Farm Foods and reacon I have saved loads since not being next-door to Woolies Bring on the shops
  18. Just to let you know that I have just had a cracking interview at the Synagogue!! Absolutely wonderful building and the Head Rabbi was rather nice, as was his wife! Gut feeling is that it went really well beause before I had Harry I worked for a Jewish gentleman for 12 years and so knew a lot of the people the Rabbi was referring to, which hopefully is a good thing! Only downside, it is nextdoor to the MailBox Shopping Centre, which is full of VERY expensive shops!!! Sounds really interesting job and loads of different things to do from organising Barmitzvah's to maintaining a weekly newsletter. Have got to wait 2 weeks to find out but we discussed holidays, commitment, and of course money!! Wonderful hours 10am til 3pm, which means I will be able to drop Harry off at school .. yippee without having to rush too much to get to work, as at the moment I have to take him to the nursery before school. Argh well fingers crossed cause I really do fancy this one, it is like nothing I have ever been to before. Jan x
  19. As you all know I stuffed up with my NHS interview last week and was a bit down Well ..... saw a job advertised on Pertemps, rang up and chased and they said they were interviewing this week and if no-one was suitable they would put me forward. It was a great job working for the Head Rabbi in Birmingham's synagogue - 10am till 3pm and out of this world money !! Whilst mooching on the web on Monday I came across the job advertised by the synagogue itself - so rang them up and they confirmed they were interviewing this week but to send over my C.V. I explained that 7 years ago (before I had Harry) I had worked for a Jewish gentleman for over 12 years and mentioned his name, as he was a BIG man! Just left work and had a "number unknown" on my mobile, which I don't usually answer but decided what the hell! Well it was the Head Rabbi, who asked if it would be convenient for me to go in and see him on Monday at 3pm, so guess who is off to Brum on Monday! When I worked for my old boss he actually sent me and my OH over to Israel to sort his wayward son out - all paid for of course! Having worked for a Jewish man before hopefully will stand in my favour and knowing a bit of the culture etc., although will be studying hard this weekend. Just thought I would keep you all informed .. hopefully this will be the ONE Thanks for reading. Jan x
  20. Good luck for tonight Tillee P.S. the rain has now stopped in the West Midlands and the sun is trying to come out
  21. I took OH for a weekend break to Madrid for his 40th and it was a brilliant weekend and can well recommend it.
  22. Polly came with her name and we liked it so we kept it as it suited her ... Polly Collie. Eddie came as Eddie and if you were to meet him he is just so an Eddie and couldn't imagine calling him anything else ..... well anything I could repeat on here
  23. Too big for me to carry! He jumps up there from a standstill and just hops down with no effort Trainer said that if he did "speed" as well as the heights that he can jump, he would be a cracking agility prospect Only speed Ed does is when off in hot pursuit of a cat he spies at the top of the garden, although for some reason we don't get any in the garden since we had Ed!!
