  1. I have to admire 2 couples, who despite the weather and the state of the local roads, made it here this afternoon to adopt greyhounds. 2 lovely black boys have just left for their forever homes

Fantastic - especialy pleased as it is often undervalued black boys getting rehomed

Had lovely evening with friends watching Strictly final with friends and a bottle of rather nice sauvignon blanc!

Now home and feeling christmassy but white christmas has just come on ipod... followed by let it snow...

Hmmmm... we have escaped this bout of snow but forcast for tonight/tomorrow. My road still about 6" deep in compacted rutted ice. Fear if it snows tonight I'll be trapped in again.

Hope everyone ok in (or rather not in) snow

  2. I'm so impressed with EASYFUNDRAISING!

Over the couple of years I've been doing it I've accumulated over £50 of donations - which is incredible for doing nothing!! Even the 2p for a music dowload makes a difference when I do multiple downloads!

I now remind eveyone I know to use it for whatever charity they support.

  3. Lovely to hear about new dog and new job!

I have a new washing machine - very exciting as old one went bang and made nasty burning smells! It has a special setting specifically for lingerie, so obviously I must be the type of person who has copious quantities of glamorous undies  It sadly doesn't have a 'dog hair' setting which may be more appropriate!

  4. Hello :wavey:

Not been around for ages as finishing my PhD has kept me rather busy! Anyway, it's done now and I actually have my life back. Yay! Sadly no job though, but hopefully something will come along soon.

I'm sure lots has happened here recently, both good and not so good, but I hope everyone is generally ok.

Anyhow, in the spirit of RMF... my nose is cold!!

  5. I guess it depends on the pond (and the dog!)

A deep pond with steep sides could be a hazard, especially to a small dog or pup.

Also a pond could be a problem if the people want to rehaome a lab (for example) and haven't realised the affinity they have - or the mess it could create!!

  6. Sometimes this happens if the anal glands are smelling.

Also, humping is not always sexual. It can be excitement or trying to 'dominate'.

My neutered dog used to do that to my neutered bitch.

Thanks - if it had been my other dog I'd have been more inclined to this explaination, but Finn is such a sweetie he doesn't 'do' dominance and wasn't particularly excited. He also had a slightly confused expression as if he didn't really know what he was doing!

Thanks for the other info on seasons. The other boys have been interested in sniffing and licking the carpet where she has been sitting.

Think I'll be keeping a very close eye on her, but from what I've read I'll have good warning if she is coming into season! Hoping however I'm just being overly cautious!

  7. Wondered if anyone could help as I've only ever had boys and speyed girls!

I'm currently looking after aunt's 5 1/2 month old puppy - probably lab x jack russell.

They also have 2 older dogs, and I have 2 dogs, all neutered.

Her 'brothers' and my older dog are taking no undue notice of her, but my Finn who is 3 and neutered at 1, is very interested in her. He's following her round lots with his nose up her bits, has been a bit drooly and just air humped behind her! He's never done anything like this and never shown any interest in any other girls.

Obviously he can't do anything about it, but I'm a bit worried it may be an indication that she is coming into season - she seems very young though. She's booked for a spey in a couple of weeks when her owners retun. She doesn't seem to have swollen bits, and there are no other signs from her.

Could she be coming into season so young, and if she is, what should I look for?

    Thanks flowers.gif

  8. Morning - it's twirly tired.gif and I've already been up for an hour

Day 1 dogsitting 3 dogs, including a puppy, plus my own 2 - think I might be even more tired.gif by the time dogs owners come home in 2 weeks!! Going to start the dog walking rota soon when it gets a little lighter - wish me luck!

  9. Does anybody in the Pontefract area have a spare 36" (or bigger) crate I could borrow for a couple of weeks?

I'm dogsitting my auntie's 3 dogs and will also have my 2, and whilst they are all pretty good I think it might be wise to have options for a bit of down time! They have 2 crates, but another on would be really handy.

I'd of course be happy to pick up and return.

I'll be there from this friday until the 17th

    Thank you flowers.gif

  10. Cleaning car before the garage? ! Not something I do (I know I should but I never get around to it)

My car has jus been in for a service and MOT and some repairs - they steam cleaned it for me ohmy.gif laugh.gif

Hope this wasn't a reflection of the state of it and more to do with the fact they had to do some welding (which is why they said they'd cleaned it!)

  11. Morning

Was up twirly this morning as the boys have gone to work with my friends today as a nice man is coming to do my fence today biggrin.gif Really excited as search for new addition can really start once it is up. Slightly worried about forcast snow, but at least it's not me out there for once!

I think they thought we were going to a show as that's normally the only time we get up before 7, but seeing their 'auntie M' made up for it. They'll have a ball today - 3 big walks round a country estate and lots of dogs to play with. I have to stay home and work though angry.gif - and probably make lots of tea for nice fence man laugh.gif
