  1. Well Holiday with a twist has been and I am back :) I am currently trying catch up so if anyone is waiting for a message/call/email from me, please bare with me.

The Holiday was great apart from my bike broke down, they recovered it but conviently forgott about me so I had to make my own way back from abroad. Needless to say I have made a complaint about this.

Anyway, I have come home just to find that Snatch's limping in his shoulder has become worse even though the dogsitter tried to rest him (anyone who knows Snatch will now obviously laugh  ).

We have been to see the vet on Tuesday evening and it is his athritis becoming worse. Unfortunately due to his other health issues and medication we can't give him any Metacam, Rhymadil, Steroids or make an X-ray to see how bad it really is, so my vet went off on a mission to see if there is anything else we can give him.

So today Snatch is starting a course of 4 injections over the next 4 weeks with a newish drug (sorry forgott the name) which is gentler on the kidneys and won't interfere with his dementia medication.

If you have a spare moment, please send some healing thoughts for him as once he won't be able to run around anymore he will be the most miserable hound in the world :mecry:

  2. It seems this week has been one of the worst weeks with loved oldies starting their last journey and sadly there is one more who will join the summerlands of rainbow bridge.

As many of you know, Rosie Rottie came into the care of the Oldies Club only a couple of weeks ago and is loved and cared for by Cher.

Sadly the diagnosis for this lovely old girl isn't good and after some discussion with the vets, Cher and I we decided that Rosie should be starting her last journey to Rainbow bridge in some dignity as she seemingly has end stage senile dementia. :mecry: :mecry:

Rosie will start her journey to rainbow bridge on friday where I am sure Rani, Jessie, Maisie and Tango will be waiting for her to show her the joys of eternal youth and health.

I am for ever greatful to Cher, her husband Chris and her grandsons especially Aron for giving Rosie Love and showing her that she is loved and will be missed. :flowers: :flowers:

Please light a candle for Rosie and raise a glass to Cher for when she becomes the newest bridge baby.

My thoughts are with you all at this sad time :GroupHug: :GroupHug:

  3. Yesterday, I realised Sally did not have any pleasures in life left anymore. Selfishly, I would have carried on.. and on.. and on. We were a team, me and her.. I feel lost without her.

When I took her today, when the Vet did his stuff - it was seconds. In those seconds, I swear the years melted away.. she lay there looking peaceful, young and beautiful.

    Sars xx

I spend.. spent.. most of each day caring for her. She has left a great big huge hole in my life/heart.

You gave a friend the last token of love and friendship there is left to give and let her cross over with dignity :flowers:

She will never be forgotten but certainly very sadly missed.

  4. It is with sad news that I cross post the following tribute from Sarah who adopted some 2.5 years ago the world famous and fantastic Aunt Sally from the Oldies Club after fostering and falling in love with her. This is her topic crossposted with permission from Sarah.

''3 years ago, I was sent this picture, of a little old dog in Ireland.

    Sallybeforeus.jpg

I collected a little, stinky girl.. with knots in her coat, a wonky ear and a wonky eye. I loved her from that very first moment.

3 weeks into living with us, she had a home offer. I can't describe the panic I felt!.. but I had promised Shane, my hubby, I'd be strong and let her go.

The morning they were to arrive to visit, Shane brought me up a cuppa in bed and said 'cancel the visit - she's OUR dog'.

I always said Sally was 157, at least, when asked how old she was. I begrudge every year she wasn't with me, every bad time she had before she was MY Auntydog. My Layla (youngest) can't really rememeber life without her. I am struggling to imagine life without her.

She's accepted any dog/cat/child that has come into our home. When we fostered Laddie, she taught him everything - where to eat/sleep/go to the loo - he was 'her' puppy and she adored him.

    Sally was perfection.

Today I have had to make the hardest decision in my life and let her go. I am just grateful that she was ready, both in mind and body, to leave me. As she slipped away, she honestly looked young again, and so very, very beautiful.

Please raise your cups to our AuntyDog - I've shared her ups and downs with many of you over the time she has been with me, and I thank you for all the support you've given

I and the Oldies Club can't thank Sarah and her family enough for giving this little Irish girl a second chance in life and giving her the best 2.5 years of her life. Without Sarah, Aunt Sally wouldn't have had another wonderful 2.5 years but matters of days.

My thoughts are with Sarah and her family at this sad time :GroupHug:

Run free Aunt Sally, have fun at the bridge until you all meet again.

  5. nice to put a face to a name

a 'chuck it' ?? not heard of them before, but sounds like a good toy, instead of throwing sticks

You use them to throw balls. Snatch loves ball chasing so rather than picking up manky balls with slobber, I use the chuck it

  6. am trying to work out in the picture which one is you Cindy??

:blush02: The demented looking one

3rd pic up with stick in her hand :flowers:

It is a chuck it and different to the last time we went out with the springer gang this one came home in one piece. Snatch decided last time his chuck it was indeed a tug toy and broke it

  7. :mecry: :GroupHug: Sarah, words can't describe how sorry I am that Bear has started his last journey but I know he will be greeted by Tango who will quickly show him the best places to chase seagulls

The day I collected Bear all I could see was a smiling old Collie with a particular bad hair day and I knew that you all belonged together.

Bear has made a huge impact on so many lives and I am for ever greatful that he and you found each other as I know the last 2.5 years where the best years he had in his life.
