  1. Now I dont normally post but I just had to give you the link below to an adults guide to kids tv, it is hilarious. http://www.busstoptoyshop.com/parentsguidetokidstv.html Cheers Nicola
  2. Hi All I have currently residing with me Penny a white Jack Russell of unknown age, possibly middle aged though. She was knocked down by a car and left at the side of the road where a kind member of the public took her to the vets. She had a broken pelvis and two broken hip bones. She will probably need surgery later in life on those hips, but at present she is doing fine and walks a bit wonky but it doesnt stop her. I dont think that she is spayed but I will pay for the operation or donate the amount to any rescue that took her on board. She has just had her first course of jabs with the next in two weeks which I will also have done My partner is a vet and rather than put her into kennels she came home here to recuperate and that was about 6 weeks ago. She is fine with my large dogs but is scared of my 11 month old son. She is crate trained and spotless in the house. I am by no means an expert on small dogs and if any rescue could take her or co-ordinate her rescue I would be happy to pass on all the information I have. One person was interested in her and took his JR round to see her but the exchange got very heated between them both and she went for the dog and grabbed the person by the trousers. This was a shock as she is the opposite in this house, very timid and has never so much as grumbled even at my bitch when she gives it large over her. The main problem is location I am in the North of Scotland, but if a rescue had a space with a foster within about 150 miles or they could meet me, I would take her down to give her a chance. The only rescue up her is the SSPCA and I dont think that Penny would do well in kennels. She will happily sit on your lap for hours being petted and was on the couch the other night with four adults and two other dogs, without a problem. If anyone can help or even give advice I would really appreciate it. many thanks Nicola
  3. Now I could make a joke about a leisure centre but I wont , it is very nice to meet you, well in a cyber sort of way. My dad ghillies up the strath in the fishing season (just a piece of irrelevant information).
  4. its ok I promise to come back another day
  5. Well we certainly have lots of clouds up north so I am sure that if I look closely I might be able to see you Sorry edited to say apologies for going off topic but now that I have nearly doubled my posting in two years I feel weary so I will go back to lurking for a while
  6. PS Hello lurker, please stop lurking and join in I am sorry I did say "hello" in the newbie thread once
  7. Oh my god, I am a serious lurker but never usually post - but I also live at the ends of the earth (well the UK at least). I am just so shocked I had to post.
  8. Hi All Natpants, no worry about the car, its me that is covered in the stuff - I feel like that cartoon character of Charlie Brown that is always filthy - I think his name was pigpen. Me, my house and my car are really just Dally extensions. Hi Elaine, A traillie is still on my wish list along with a greyhound but after yonks of cant agreements between me and OH he said well why dont we get another one of them, pointing to Dexter. We really didnt mean to get one this quickly but I was browsing the internet, as I do, seen Keira and fate really took a hand. I will say this much tho what a bloody shock to the system to take on a dog that is a year and a half almost that has had no discipline in its life. God the wine is being tanked this week. She is now coming round to the fact that she is now fourth in line and that seems ok when they get out twice a day for a nice walk but quiet times are still a mystery to her. Dexter has been a gem as well, my big lad is such a good boy. In saying that I did see him trying to stick a third class stamp on her the the other day. Now hopefully I will be able to display some photos. Keira meeting Dexters friends Jude and Charley (female) for the first time. There are four of them here Keira with her new brother Dexter And finally Dexter wishing everyone a happy christmas, although he is early Thanks for all the replies Nicola.x
  9. OH thing with greyhounds is that he doesnt particulary like them - but each to their own - he is more of a spaniel man. Being a vet tho he is aware of animal behaviour and dealing with them - so I suppose I will just have to be happy that he is treating the animals with care and kindness rather than taking them home.
  10. Hi Mel Very sorry to hear recently about Sidney - he was a beautiful boy. Can you suggest a good host thingies for pictures. I used to use mypet pages but my subs have expired. Thanks in advance. Nicola.x
  11. Hi there BC (hope it is ok to use the abbreviated version). I do try with RMF but quite frequently loose the plot if I have been away for a few days. What with having a new pooch I am loosing it daily, oh tried to do a laugh thingie but dont think it worked!
  12. Well hello, although I feel as though I know a lot of you already after being a lurker for years between this site and DP. I have never really been one for posting but cos Pingu keeps booting me off I thought I should introduce myself. I am Nicola and live in the very north of Scotland with my OH and two Dalmatians. We have had Dexter since a puppy but recently got Keira through adoption and she is a year and a half. We did plan to adopt when we move to our new house but I was cruising the internet seen her up for re-homing and felt as though fate dealt us a hand. I shall be having strong words with fate tho as it didnt mention that the Dalmatian we were getting was nothing like my well behaved laid back Dally - but a house shredding, carpet piddling, counter surfing, attention seeking one. But we are nothing if not resilient and what a difference even a week makes. OH is a vet and i am a part time layabout who turns up at work and pretends to do things by shuffling papers. Dexter and Keira are vets assistants - there to bark at the animals in order to ensure their hearing is perfect. I am a supporter of greyhound rescue and I hope one day that my man will get over his "thing" about greyhounds and allow one in - but I realise that cat and brat friendly ones in the very north of scotland dont come along every day. Take care all, love reading the posts as there are days I need to cry (women only will understand PMT) and days I need to laugh. Sorry for any typos but couldnt find the spell check do-dah. Nicola.x
