A mistake many make. Did you read the story from Mrs Oook? I actually work as a techie for a large utility company. I just masquerade as a photographer at weekends and some evenings (and i'm proud to be mildy eccentric, dread to think what I'll be like when I am an old duffer!) -

There is a difference between tolerating things and not being aware of them. For the most part some of the isses that the owner of arofe mentioned other forum had were not especially public and did not affect anyone that they knew. I that case it was definitly a case of not being aware. I think I know the people that are being referred to by your comment. What changed is they saw some of their friends get a serious public slating by the owner of the forum. Now while this may not be a personal axe to grind it would certianly embitter you to the owner, and in turn the ofrum in general. I very much doubt you, or roxysmum have experienced or seen someone go through the sort of inquisition that happens. If you had you I'm sure you would reconsider your comments here. Those who say 'Get over it' are in a similar vein - it is not that easy especially when you integrity, reputation and in some cases livelyhood are threatened by the actions on on forum owner. There will always be a degree of sniping going on, but that doesn't affect the dogs (no really, it doesn't!) and for the most part it is based on fact and experience it. In my opinion the people that need to move on are the ones that feel they have to defend other forums policies and complain when those who have been affected voice there concerns.

I think you nailed it with the misguided illusions of superiority held by the solicitors (and I would imagine doctors too). So the solicitort are mostly up their own arses. The secretaries that work for a partner are also up their own arses. Makes for a bad work environment, pity the pay is usually pretty good really otherwise they would have no staff! I think your example while shocking is probably pretty on the mark too. Re-enforces my opinion on most solicitors Not all of them though, the woman Sam works for is completely mad and actually nice - even at work. It is more the other secretaries who work for partners that are the issue.
-
s*** stirrers too! Frankly I am apalled by the way most law firms treat their staff, and there are always a few who get away with everything because they are the 'in' crowd. Sam is waiting for the day they decide to get rid of her because she won't take any crap. Sometimes keeping to yourself work best at work. Sometimes it is a shame I can't keep to myself at work!
-
Sam works at a solicitors and says pretty much the same about the people that she works with. Wonder if they are related?
