  1. I've recently discovered Kate Atkinson, and absolutely love her books and have rapidly worked my way through the lot. I suppose they could loosely be described as crime/mystery, but they are much more than that. Brilliantly observed, her use of language is fantastic and there is a dry humour running through them that I love.

Worth starting with 'Case Histories' which is the first novel featuring Jackson Brodie.

For those with e-book readers I've managed to borrow all of them from various public libraries that do e-book loans biggrin.gif

  2. I really liked it and I loved the trailer for next year biggrin.gif

Me too. It's taken me a while to come round to Matt Smith (David Tennant will always be 'the man' as far as I'm concerned) but the Christmas edition was good, so I'm looking forward to the next series now biggrin.gif

  3. It's lovely to hear that the terrified little dog we took in it doing so well now and enjoying her Christmas presents wub.gifwub.gif

Thank you to all the kind people who were so generous to our sponsor dogs, and thank you Cheryl for all you have done for Trish flowers.gif

  4. We have blue tits, coal tits and longtailed tits, robins, blackbirds of both sexes, a thrush, starlings, chaffinches and bullfinches, collared doves and wood pigeons, loads of sparrows and one teeny wren.

We have all of those too except the coal tits - I haven't seen one of them for ages .

Over the last week we've also had a pair of goldcrests which I was very excited about as I've never seen one at close quarters before - they are such teeny birds and usually creep around the tree trunks so you get a glimpse if you are lucky. We've also had brief visits from a green woodpecker and a lesser spotted woodpecker. There have been Fieldfares up on the railway embankment behind the garden, but haven't seen one in the garden yet.

Reminds me - I must go and top up the bird feeders, they are emptying them faster than I can fill them at the moment!

  5. Lil I can't find that GWP.

Fee I'll ask. What rscue is he in?

He's not in a rescue, he's with his owners but they need to rehome him. He's on the Oldies waiting list but we're not likely to have a place for him in the foreseeable future.

If there's a chance breed rescue might be able to help the best thing would be if I could put the owners directly in touch with someone.

  6. Oh no Laura, what a worry for you. I haven't any experience with cruciate injuries, but I have heard of lots of dogs that have got through cruciate problems either with management or surgery. I'm sure there will be others here with direct experience and advice.

Sending huge hugs for you and your special girl Group_Hug_Emoticon.gif
