  1. I was in creases whn I saw this
  2. Yes, there is a HUGE difference between the two ages, but the first vet report definately puts her at age 17, apparently she was in a dreadful mess though, thse spiccies were taken after a much needed bath and nail trim. She is showing signs of acute anxiety now apparently and sticks to Jo like Glue, poor old girlie
  3. Photo thread here For those that need a fix
  4. Update from Jo after the vets Just back from the vets and it is all positive news. The funny dangly lump is a skin tag, and once she is settled in and a bit more confident the vet will take it off for her. Its cosmetic and the only reason they want to remove it is because she's obviously catching it and it will be sore. Other than that she has a fairly clean bill of health, she weighs just over 24 kilos and actually needs to lose a bit of weight, but that's because she hasn't been exercised by the looks of things. And judging by her general condition the vet thinks she isn't as old as 17, he'd actually put her age somewhere around 9, which is still an oldie for sure! I took her for a little walk on Hob Moor on the way home, and she met some of Indie and Taus' friends and was made a fuss of. She is still quite apprehensive, and needs some time and patience to come out of her shell, but already today I have seen big change in her.
  5. With Jo's girls Indie and Tau Still a little wary Sleeping
  6. Well another quick update, she's worked out she can be shut in the front room so didn't want to go settle in there while I left her for five mins, its a good job Indie and Tau are accommodating and don't mind where they're told to have a rest! Chloe is in very poor body condition, she has no muscle mass really, so its no surprise her nails are long because I don't think she's been walked for a while. She's also got a bit of a swollen hock, and when I took her for a little jaunt around the block earlier it was obvious how unfit she was, and probably a good job as I don't think she's used to those lead things. The little dangly lump on her tummy is bleeding a little bit today, it looks like she's either overcleaned it or knocked it on something, so glad she's off to the vets. She is a bit anxious about everything but we'll just take it slowly with her, she gave me a lovely little welcome dance earlier after I'd left her for five mins, and when we were out on our little jaunt she kept looking up at me every little while and giving me a quick nudge, maybe she thinks I'm not real??
  7. Quick update for you after the first night OK this is a quick one as all three are downstairs, Indie and Tau are in the hallway and Chloe has found her new favourite place on the enormous squishy dog bed Jez bought at Christmas time. It was a late night for us, she was very anxious and I didn't want to leave her until I felt she'd settled properly, which was about 2am. The collie in her is definitely obvious, she is a worrier! At about 1am we had a little break through, she actually reached for my hand and asked for a bit of a love, she is quite non-reactive when you try and pet her most times (and I'm not pushing her), so for her to ask for a bit of a stroke was very good. And she sort of curled round more towards where I was sat, all nice signs that she'd started to settle and accept her new home and family. She was clean through the night and after I've had my second cup of tea I'm gonna take her round the block. Oh, and she ate some pilchards for breakfast, so she's got something in her tum.
  8. http://www.rykat.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=35154 Here is her new life thread
  9. Here we go, from Joanne her foster mum Well Chloe was a little bit whingy on the journey home, and is still apprehensive, who can blame her with all the change that has happened in her life. The good news is she's nowhere near as stinky as Rhuna was when we rescued her, didn't have to wind the windows down at all in fact!! Although she would benefit from a bit of a nice warm shower and shampoo. Indie and Tau have been absolutely fine with her, Tau didn't recognise her at one point in the garden but soon realised who it was (the smell I think). I'm up in the loft so don't want to leave her too long, as I think she is a bit anxious, I can hear a bit of a whinge as I'm typing. So its going to be patient short spurts of time by herself in her new home, I won't be leaving Indie and Tau with her until she has got some confidence, and as Tau gets crated when we're out during the day it will be steady Indie that she'll be able to cuddle up to. Anyway, will keep you updated and let you know how it goes at the vets - you'll have to wait for photos I'm afraid as my camera battery has run out, but I promise I'll try and get some taken and uploaded tomorrow.
  10. Well, I just had to do it, this photo was taken on Sunday and she psoed beautifully for the camera Then just after I got a ooooge Maia snog for my trouble. There are times I could strangle the little madam, like whe she rolls in poo and dead things and when she shouts and throws a tantrum by throwing herself on the ground/in the road, barks and lunges out of fear (but this getting much less) Then you look at photos like this and you forget all the other stuff Oh and then she decided to do this
  11. My Jack is a PAT dog and we have been PAT'ting for 3 years now, both of us love every minute of it. We currently visit St Helena Hospice in Colchester on a Sunday and Occupational therapy at a secure unit for people with mental health problems, its absolutely amazing to see people relax and smile when Jack enters the ward, their whole face lights up, the relatives also enjoy the visit to as it gives them something to talk about with the patient. They are looking for 3 PAT dogs in total to visit the Hospice this means that we can all take it in turns and go on different days, I used to visit once a fortnight at my other placement until we moved We have also been chosen to be in the PAT parade at CRUFTS this year as its PAT 25th anniversary. Jack during his PAT visit this weekend
  12. Well Chloe is OUT, she has been collected by Christine, the pound fee duly paid ( could have wiavered, whole other story) and she has been for a walk, here is what Christine says "I collected Chloe about an hour ago and she is laid under my desk at work at the moment. We have been for a walk by the river and even a little run - Chloe insisted She is very lively, seems quite happy - she is very smelly (Joanne be prepared) and needs a good brush, but other wise she is lovely." Joanne is going over tonight to collect her and introduce her to Jo's 2 Labs. Apparently she was on Rimadyl and the kennel staff suspect that was what making her sick, after they stopped it she got a lot brighter. So there you go, Jo is going to take lots of piccies of her and update me and in turn i'll update you all.
  13. The News we have all been waiting for...Chloe is being relelased TODAY
  14. Poor old girlie, I had some lovely people offer to foster Chloe on another site, I will PM them and see if they would take this old girl
  15. The RSPCA didn't get involved in the end, she was taken from the vets by the Leeds Dog Warden and treated as a stray. The Kennels she is in are not the most helpful and we have been given the run around from the start, to the point where the kennel owner got bloody minded and decided to phoh the Dogs Trust to come and get her, even though rescue had already said they woudl take her and have a foster home ready for her. We have asked to get her out earlier but to no avail, apparently rules are rules. So we are hoping that she can hold on until we get her, she is on AB's and painkillers from the vet, we are assuming these are from the vet who handed her in. Keep praying all, because her foster mum is waiting to give her lots of TLC and love for however long she has left.
  16. Christine went to see her today in the Pound kennels, she really is not well and has been sick and is not looking the same as she did when this picture was taken, the stress and her age is tkaing its toll. We are fighting for them to release her early and we are hoping we can get her Monday now instead of Tuesday and get her straight to a vet. So please, send lots of those Refure vibes and love to her, coz we are all fighting for her.
  17. Unfortunately LRRSE are not permitted to post for help BUT we may have someone who wants to take her on permenantly, have just been speaking with her. Doggylover, I will PM you Lesley at LRRSE's number you can then talk to her, as this other person will need to be homechecked
  18. Sadly her foster space has fallen through, we are looking for someone to long term foster this girl, LRRSE will provide full back up and expenses
