  1. Cortaflex has been an absolute miracle for my elderly GSD! Having tried all of the above we were on the verge of having him PTS, we were so gutted as apart from his hips he was bright & full of life We started him on the expensive liquid first & within a fortnight he was walking 10 times better, we kept him on that for two months then we changed to the powder form which I would recommend after using one of the premium products, once the dog is stable you can use the cheaper powder (cortaflex) as a maintainance dose, 10 months later Tye is still with us & still going on his normal walks! We left our vet speechless when we arrived for his booster jab last month! The cortaflex powder costs £16.99p inc delivery, I give tye a dose for giant sized dogs & the tub lasts two months, thats 28p a day
  2. Pm'd you we are now off to devon for a few days instead & have booked them into a day creche at a place called white bridge farm at high bickington, will look to do monkey world later on in the autumn
  3. Hi Does anyone know a kennels that provides day boarding in the Dorset area? its for three dogs all vacs/cas/speyed etc it would be for a day or two the first week in sept, we would like to go to monkey world but need somewhere for the dogs to go for the day Helen
  4. Yes, many thanks, I've decided to donate the proceeds to selina at Springer rescue
  5. I want to put a few bits on the swap shop in return for a donation to a springer rescue & I remembered reading about one in Ireland who were really up against it all the time due to the rescue situation being much worse over there, but I can't remember what they were called? any ideas? they rescued them from the pound & some were sent over here, Helen
  6. Thats ok, no children with us From what I have found out, there is a £6 toll for using the road to High Lodge & that is it Can you take the dogs into the cafe area? I dare say they wouldn't allow that
  7. I've been on the Thetford forest website but it does not give much info on dog walks etc has anyone been or know the best place to go? We will be staying on the outskirts of cambridge & traveling up there for a few hours, the forest centre sounds good but just wondered how dog friendly the place is
  8. Yes I posted at the same time, I've redone the the link & its fine now
  9. Thats really odd, when I click on your link it comes up yet if I use my book marked link it goes to the undergoing update page Oh well at least I can get to it now!
  10. Does anyone know what is happening? I haven't managed to get on to the site for days
  11. Anyone want some free raw chicken carcass for there dogs? I,ve picked up far too many & need to get rid of the rest either tonight or first thing in the morning as I haven't got anywhere to keep them longer than that, first come first served basis We are in Wickford call 0787 597 4471
  12. It appears to be a liver problem, they are going to do an xray & scan this morning.
  13. One of my cats did not eat his breakfast this morning & has since been vomiting frothy clear/slightly yellow fluid up, he is also drooling a bit, I have booked him into the vets for later on but just wondered if anyone one has any suggestions of what it could be? he was fine yesterday & can't see anything else wrong with him
  14. A friend of mine rung me last night to see if I could do a bit of digging around on the net regarding a cart for a GSD, a rescue local to her has a 4yr old otherwise fit & healthy dog that apparently is an ideal candidate for a cart but they have been quoted £300 which they can ill afford but will buy one if nothing else crops up in the next few days, At this present moment in time I don't know the name of the rescue but have left a message on friends answerphone this morning so will update later on with rescues details etc my friend also runs a rescue which is a registered charity & if the mods want her details as some kind of verification please PM & I will gladly forward, does seem a little pointless putting her details up as she isn't the one with the dog but thought I'd offer the details anyway as I had posted this on another forum last night (mentioning no names) & because I didn't have the bra size & inside leg measurements of the rescue with the dog I was treated like some kind of con artist instead of someone just trying to do a favour Helen
  15. Two reasons mainly, the first is that I keep my cats litter tray in there so it stops the litter tray raiding Secondly, although it does not affect me in the day I tend to suffer with allergies when I get into bed if there have been pets in or on the bed & after an endless amount of trials allergy bedding/sprays/pooch sprays etc the only thing that worked was keeping the pets out of the bedroom & putting a sheet over the bed in the day time to stop the cats hair/dander getting on the the duvet etc
  16. A few years back when we got our Border Collie pup we had him sleeping in our bedroom, he went on develop separation issue etc but that could of been down to the fact that he was a BC after all more recently our last two dogs (at diiferent times) we had them in a crate in the living room & any whining ignored, they have gone on to be well adjusted dogs, I am now reading that this is not "The done thing" & puppies should be allowed to sleep in your bedroom I can understand why as its a scary new world for a pup but is it then cruel to oust it from your bedroom a few days/weeks later? It appears the more I read the more confusing it is What are your thoughts on this? I am asking this as we have a puppy arriving here on Friday & I want to do the right thing
  17. Thankyou for all your kind words, sadly Jasper passed away at 9.50am today.
  18. No I've tried that & he just isn't interested, I have just swished some mashed salmon with some warm water which seemed to go down slightly better than plain water but I still have to force it down him
  19. My cat Jasper who will be 15yrs in Feb is very ill we took him to the vets on Tuesday as he had stopped eating & his weight plummeted, the vet felt something in his abdomen & kept him in overnight to do xrays yesterday, the results from that are he either has a tumour in his gut or it could be a swollen gland due to where it is, on top of that he has a serious case of cystitis & protein in his urine indicating a kidney problem, we brought him home last night with A/B's for the cystitis & Prednicare (steroids) to see if the lump/swelling would respond to them, he also has some urinary food, we were told if he responded to that treatment then the vet would put him on to Fortekor for his kidney problem, he has hardly moved since coming home last night & won't eat or drink I've been syringing small amounts of water into his mouth but he is really fighting it Does anyone have any suggestions of how to get some fluid into him? if he does not improve in the next 24hrs then I think it will be time to call it a day but I need to give him a little bit of time as he's only been on the medication since yesterday.
