  1. Are you all still getting out for walks ! ?ohmy.gif....snow's so deep here we can't get to the stubble field which is about 100 yards along the road, roads are too dangerous to drive onto any side roads, we're having to make do with the field across the road, even there if the Staffies venture off the track I've made, I have to go and rescue them, the snow's up to their necks rolleyes.gif. Somebody tell me I'm not the only one stuck at home mellow.gif

  2. I had a similar dilemma with Ben who had HD, all the usual NSAID's affected his liver and made him quite ill, he's now been on Tramadol for about 6 months and is doing great on them. I don't know why more vet's aren't using them as they have no effects on the internal organ's, it does make your dog a bit dopey for the first week or so, but after that they're fine. There's also the advantage of them being ridiculously cheap, I pay £8 for 100.

  3. We had more snow yesterday in West Yorkshire, and overnight, though it's sunny now. Still snow and ice on our road as well as the pavements, so few cars around, and those who do venture forth (why??) are skidding. It's dangerous to walk on the pavements because of them.

We'd been hoping to go north on Thursday to see my son and daughter-in-law in Fife - she's 30 weeks pregnant. They can't get out of their road and their cars are stuck fast, though my son trudged across town yesterday to get to work. Don't think we'll be seeing them after all, so let's hope it clears before Christmas.

I suppose if it were only an inch or two, and it didn't last for months, that would be fun - but I can't help remembering last winter. We had frozen pipes in Galloway, and weren't able to go anywhere. :mecry:

We were on the M90 between jct 9 and Kinross today and it had ground to a stand still on the north bound lanes, you might be ok if she's far enough south, the gritters are out in full force but it's snowing so much it just get's covered up. I certainly won't be risking going out in the car again, t'was very hairy, did get the shopping done though.

  4. It has taken me a while to understand why this should be funny as I am usually the last person to see a joke ... does it look as if I was asking who in Peebles wears contact lenses? Yes, that would indeed be a bizarre question to put on dog chat  quite surreal, in fact

Phew ! thats one lucky girl, imagine surviving over night in those conditions ohmy.gif.

I don't get what's funny about the title either unsure.gif....but I'm known for my fickness rolleyes.gif

  5. Just this summer I got a poll through the post from the Duchess asking for support to include Staffie crosses in the type of dog Scottish Staffie Rescue would help, some of the committee thought they weren't worth bothering with as they weren't "pure " .......twats angry.gif

  6. On COD?

Nah, Red Dead Redemption .....Undead Nightmare...it was only £20 in Tesco, it's really good for the price if you like killing zombies, riding horses (including zombie ones ) and hunting Big Foot ( I don't like that bit much )

I am sad. Sad that so many of the 'breed' rescues advise being firm and leader of the pack with your dog, that all of these breeds require different methods, that one has told me bluntly that society and its preference for treats and positive methods makes it difficult to find the right people for these dogs.

And sad that there is a refusal to take on or help home a dog who has nipped - not bitten but nipped in the past. The family will keep him as long as they can, and I will tell them that the rescue can't help. What I won't tell them is the advice to have this lovely 2 year old dog put to sleep. Or that its their fault for not being firm enough with the dog.

It must be a depressing time for anyone trying to make rescues see sense Group_Hug_Emoticon.gif. There are still good ones out there, the place I know has helped and rehomed quite a few with a history of aggression, but they only have five dogs at a time so probably have more time to devote to them, they even managed to rehome a Border Terrier that had bitten a man on the testicles ohmy.gif.

We've had yet more snow angry.gif, it's about as bad as it was last year. For once I'm glad Ed's off his work, he can drive to the shops this afternoon, we're down to the last steak and onion slice in the freezer rolleyes.gif.

  8. When I was in Perth today I saw someone out walking their Staffie bitch who had obviously just had pup's as her boobies were just about on the ground, no coat on or nothing in the deep snow angry.gif hope they have good homes lined up for the babies mellow.gif.

Quite a lot of snow here, Ben and Spud loved it, Daisy say's she may not come out from under the duvet until spring rolleyes.gif
