  1. so sad about Kibbie. I know the feeling of going to the vets expecting a fairly routine appointment then instead coming out without them, its devastating and i'm just remembering it. Tons of sent. Glad Henry bill wasnt to bad but even happier we dont have MOT over here
  2. Could that be Blues problems that its down to a hormonal thing? Perhaps he needs something along the lines of rigcalm. just thinking we know how mares can get grumpy etc [and ourselves very occasionally ] so maybe as spring is in the air and hes behaving unusual for him its a hormone problem?
  3. How did Emily's performance go Yantan, even if they do pack up maybe they'd just continue walking yours if you asked them
  4. Alex, i suppose they've at least done it now but you'd thought they would have learnt first time round I've been googling Toffee mouse growth and it looks like it a fast growing tumour it has come up very quickly and goes from his tummy down into his back leg. Hes fine at the moment but obviously due to where it is i think he'll be unable to get around if it grows anymore. If it is hes probably only got a few weeks left. I forgot Ben rats pics so i'll do them later. Oh, Ben might just have his half brother Boris as a friend Boris is an absolute runt, well under half the size of Ben even though hes only 2 wks younger. The breeder gave him to me and he has grown since but not a lot. Think part of the problem was she has several rats together and i dont think he was getting enough food as in getting shoved out the way, the first day he did nothing but eat and eat. His coat is improving but dont think he'll win any beauty awards
  5. Uncle Albert Phoenix at stolen laptops. One of my hammies is not well at all, i'm hoping he'll shuffle off to the Bridge but if not i'll have to take him to vets to send him on his way. A few weeks ago he cut his back ,no idea how but it was nothing bad but it just isnt healing, then sunday it looks like hes had a stroke. Hes uncoordinated so i've had to take him out of his huge mansion and put him in a small flat cage as he kept crashing off his shelves. Today he has massively swollen areas but hes still his normal grumpy self eating tiny bits and drinking. Grizzly is an old boy as hes 3 and detests any kind of handling , i took him on as he'd been teased by kids so learnt to attack as defense. Hes had a good 18mths with me but the bugger wont go Added to that one of Jodies mice has a huge growth on his belly Think i'll do a mass pts appointment at vets and have myself included
  6. Loki fantastic Milo and Blue My gang are ok at the moment but waiting for disaster to strike any day as i make my last payment on vet bill this week. Currently got a hamster and a cat vying for vet appointment so its only a matter of time till the equine gang [who caused the massive over £1000 vet bill] decide to join in the 'who needs the vet' competition Little Fern , please can someone tell her that when i'm giving her a good scratch and she decides to groom me in return that my boobs are not the best place to start It hurts!!!
  7. k9fran Alex, its still an addiction even if its different plants Owl, hope little dog does turn up and that the husky is found soon Ian is back over here and making slow but steady progress Izzie is doing my head in shes on limited exercise due to hurting her back leg and has decided excess energy has to be worked off vocally so shes shouting her mouth off at every opportunity and 'talking' constantly. Threats of gagging her and having her de barked have failed to work
  8. poor Nogs. Will try to get pics up later. Must admit feeling guilty as Ben is on his own. After the breeder left and i was deciding what to do the pet shop assistant said male rats cannot be kept together as they'll fight badly. As my last rat Max was given to me as a result of his brother badly attacking him i assumed she was right. Now i've googled things it says they should be kept in a minimum of pairs and you can introduce a new one with little trouble up till aound 12weeks old. So do i go get one of his brothers or not I'm really unsure...any advice please?
  9. Steph. Thanks for all the good thoughts for Ian, i'm positive they helped I have a slight confession along the rat lines..sorry snow. I 'might' have a got a pet one on sunday I love rats and couldnt resist, i'd nipped to pet shop for food and the lady was just dropping off a litter of rats. Pet rats are very hard to comeby over here so i couldnt resist cuddling them. They're all very well handled and i took a real liking to a beige and white with red eyes so he came home with me I was cleaning out Ben before and he was climbing over me and got tangled up in my hair, that was fun Its a long time since i had a rat, my last one Max had to be pts through breathing problems Ben got his name so i can sing to him Ben by michael jackson
  10. I'm thrilled to say that Ian walked last night with help. The doctors are amazed at how quick hes now recovering. Yesterday morning was not good for him but hospital said it was a form of delayed shock and the relief that he had stood the night before which reduced him to a shaking wreck unable to do anything but they let him rest and last night he walked. Apparently after a few steps Ian broke down and cried for ages Snow
  11. Just had a message from Mandy thats made me all . Remember i said i was going to get Ian a guardian angel badge or similar? well nothing felt right, couldnt find the right one. I then had the 'feeling' of going elsewhere so off i goes and in this lovely little shop found a small statue of an angel praying.I told the angel of the work she needed to do and left her and a card for Ian. The angel in is hospital with Ian watching him all the time and Ians telling everyone how things started to get better the minute his angel was with him I dont claim credit , its the angel working but i'm so happy to help this way.
  12. Ian had a 5hr operation on his back a few days ago.Apparently they removed a rib to use to repair his back but fascinating! Anyway op went better than expected and the fantastic news is that Ian has already stood up with the help of nurses Hope missing dog is found soon
  13. Blue and Milo , you silly buggers Fern gave me a fright last night, digging her bed as soon as she got in which normally is a sign she collicking but think it was the fact she had 2 rubber mats put in yesterday. She seemed fascinated by them
  14. Does any one have any ideas why a spayed female cat who was done about 4/5 yrs ago suddenly has tom cats after her and is thoroughly enjoying the attention she has never done this and has suddenly started this morning.
  15. jazz hope all goes well with her scans. Glad you had a lovely time at the wedding Murtle..we're in Guernsey, channel islands Mandy will be able to visit Ian but at her own cost, Guernsey states refuse to help with spouses/partners travel costs so as you can imagine it'll cost a fortune even if they subsidised it that would help but they wont. Tis my lovely Izzies birthday still offically a puppy as shes really only 1yr old and not her other age of 4 yrs old Shes had sausages today and yesterday had an early pressie by stealing half a large bar of turkish delight dairy milk chocolate Unfortunately i hadnt realised and it was only when i told the kids off for chucking the wrapper on the floor that i found out who the culprit was, phoned vets but as several hours had passed with no ill effects they said just to keep an eye on her. Bloody dog
  16. diesel suzeanna , i'm so sorry Ian has now hopefully been flown to exeter spinal unit. He should have gone yesterday as we've spent two and a half days completely fogged in so he couldnt go earlier but yesterday afternoon the fog was rolling back in but i think he went in time. Hes going to be having surgery and Mandy has been told he'll be there several weeks.
  17. tis not good news with Ian. Apparently the latest scans have revealed shattered lower spine. A uk specialist is looking at them to decide what surgery can be done so Ian may be off to uk soon. I dont know anything else as this has obviously taken centre stage and devastated everyone
  18. I'm no expert but would say sand it down before painting especially if wood has any varnish .
  19. suzeanna , loads og good thoughts sent and hope all goes well for her
  20. kittycat jazz Thanks for all the good thoughts for Ian, didnt hear from Mandy yesterday and dont want to phone atm as shes got so much to cope with however she knows if she needs me to call and i'll do what i can. I'll check with her tomorrow if i dont speak to her in the meantime. I'm going to get Ian a lovely card and a guardian angel badge with healing , sounds barmy to some but i did one for Bumble our pony last year when he was so ill we nearly lost him. Once his angel was on his door he started to recover, it now stays in place watching over him. I really feel that Ian needs one so i'm doing the same.I'll pass your good thoughts when i see him
  21. Great news Owl Please can i ask for some desperately needed good thoughts. On friday a friend of mine fell off a roof at work Ian has a broken back and crushed discs, broken ribs and severe bruising, a badly broken wrist and arm and faces amputation on badly damaged/crushed fingers. Nobody knows if he'll ever walk again The doctors have said they dont know how he survived. Ians a lovely quiet bloke and his wife is devastated as is he.Hes being fitted for a body cast and may have to go to UK when hes 'stabilised'.
  22. Had an exciting find yesterday..well to me its exciting anyway My sister went to a place advertising free wood to take away for firewood. This place is an old barn thats basically been filled with stuff and locked up for approx 40 odd years She spotted an old bridle in a pile of things and told me. I went down and spoke to workmen who thought i was batty but i'm now the proud owner of a filthy dirty ancient workhorse bridle complete with blinkers and a very rusty bit One leather strap is missing and no reins but it has a browband with metal pleats and metal rosette [one is missing]. I shall enjoy trying to clean it up then hang it in my lounge. I've told guys i'll be back to see what else they unearth!!
  23. I hate the smell of indoor jasmine its sickly!! Had a real moment earlier. One of our cats is an outdoor boy, hates being in and only comes in when its bad weather. His dad was a feral boy and Jamie has the temperment of one! He likes being fed outdoors as well so as i knew he was around i took his food out and shouted 'C'mon Jamie, come and get it'. Yep you've probably guessed it..a guy walking up the estate happened to be called Jamie and looked terrified and very nervously asked what he'd done Once i'd reassured him it was the cat not him i was after he seemed slightly less scared
  24. Griff Hope Polly terrier shows up soon and that news comes through about Diesel
