  1. Timmy Izzie has a bit of a poorly tummy today ..do i assume it could be connected to a packet of missing butter that i left on the unit last night or is it just sheer coincidence that theres an identical empy butter wrapper in the garden
  2. Too Much Information. I have a Goffins cockatoo staying here for a few weeks..bluddy hell what a racket he makes!!
  3. School have had words with the girl and today has been fine so hopefully thats sorted! For those of you with no glass doors you can get window giraffe head ones which look fantastic as they're so lifelike it seems they're peering in. Glad Brackens fine and a yay for Scoobs.
  4. Griff. Jodie started high school yesterday and already a kid is calling her names. We know this kid and shes nasty just waiting to see how the school deal with it or they'll have me to deal with!
  5. Oh no thats terrible colic terrifies me , things can go wrong so fast with it and theres nothing you can do. Annie on paper ..we're getting there! I've cheated a bit and put some dust free shavings on the base as Annie has a habit of holding her wee than letting gallons go once shes in the stable. The paper was getting flooded but this certainly seems to be working for her and the mucking out is easier now.
  6. Annies wheezing is virtually gone now shes on paper bedding so thank goodness to that. Still havent told stable owners as they really dont want paper, i figure if i keep it really tidy etc and muck out into a bag then they can see its not horrendous and blowing all over the place which was their only fear. Tried bumbles rug on last night , why do they make rugs so damn deep and straps so far back ! Its virtually down to his knees and tail strap is far to low. Its a lovely rug but i'm gutted, was so sure it'd fit him well. I know some need deep rugs etc but any deeper and i'd have to tent stake him to the ground, lol !!
  7. Thats great news for you and Milo Got to stables tonight to find Bumble had escaped in field and him and Fern had been arguing over rights to be Annies friend . Its rare for Bumble to be in a real strop but hes in one tonight just bought him a lovely 2nd hand rug and like hell was he going to model it so left him sulking. We must be insane to keep these animals!!! lol
  8. Hay at the moment is around £5 to £6 small bale off the fields and large rounds are about £60 but the prices increase as hay gets in short supply. Last winter towards the end rounds were around £75 to £80. Very scary money. Sometimes you feel like crying when you see how cheap you can buy it in england but on an island you've got no choice but to pay. Bumble slightly sore but better , just wish he'd remember hes an ageing lammi not a young un! Annie breathing is better just a slight wheeze rather than the heaving we've been having. She was still on shavings last night but a minimum amount as they were meant to stay out but i worry about Bumble when hes sore and wanted him on his deep bed. She walked in her stable and looked stunned that her big bed was gone Paper bed tonight! Clare, you'll be fine
  9. Totally agree with Fran , thats just bad manners! Yes £8 a small bale of straw.
  10. Well it looks like Annie is developing a dust allergy, great eh? I'm putting her on hage and also bedding on paper as of tomorrow but owners of where i am dont want paper on muck heap so i'll have to pay at tip to dispose of it. Trouble is the good dust free shavings are over £9 a bale, straw is £8 a bale whereas the paper is £2 for huge sack and its the little chunky chopped stuff. Bumbles decided to be sore on his feet but think that was his fault for thinking he was a 2yr old racehorse yesterday! I give up, lol.
  11. Eve , i know this sounds bloody daft but will he let you or someone brush him on a walk. I used to know a dog Jacko that wouldnt let a brush touch him at home but out on a walk he'd allow his owner to brush him for a few minutes at a time. You could follow the hair trail easily and know you'd find Jacko and his dad at the end of it
  12. Fanbloodytastic Alex!!!! you should spill the beans on your murky past, we're friends and will understand everything.....
  13. at Blue but that reminds me of years ago when i had my piebald Whisky. I got back from holiday went straight to see him, he galloped towards me calling then slammed the brakes on about 10ft away and went in opposite direction, he obviously realised his holiday was over as well!!! Glad the ladys found another horse its devastating when you lose them.
  14. I hope they realise they're not getting you yet..they sound a bit eager Good luck Alex
  15. Suzeanna, love that site!!! Some of those will make good christmas pressies!
  16. Thanks Yantan. Alex , i saw that article as well Jazz, that so annoying for you
  17. Yantan, how do you bake your scotch eggs. Do you prepare them same way and shove in oven or is it different and also what temp ,how long cooking time. Was thinking of baking ours but didnt know how to do 'em!
  18. Suzeanna, they were talking about Carl Hester who was in the dressage team, one of the girls worked for him think it was Charlotte and the horse was supposed to be for Carl to compete on when he was old enough but the horse now has such a bond with Charlotte and does so well that its her that is competing on him instead. I do agree though it doesnt matter if Carl is gay , its nothing to do with anyone else.
  19. Forgot to say about this..a tip for fencing!! When you cleverly decide to put up some wooden posts and want them to be same height as other posts in fields it is a good idea not to buy 6' posts then discover the others were 5' so you have an extra foot of post to bash in. I'll just go scuttle into the idiots corner
  20. Glad horses were ok but the canadian rider has concussion and a fractued bone in her back apparently.
  21. murtle Griff, sorry but had to laugh at being told on Phoned up about hedgies and both are ok. One does have mange but both were very hungry and thirsty. Tonight i'll put a low dish of water in front field for any other thirsty hedgies and maybe some cat biscuit. Once they're recovered they'll come back to me.
  22. I myself am an excellent olympian..armchair one of course Found something unusual today , 2 hedgehogs curled up along side each other on the path to the horses fields in broad daylight. Kept an eye on them but they didnt move so got two buckets and picked one up s/he has a small head wound. The other uncurled itself walked about a foot then lay down flat out , looks like s/he has a tiny bit of mange. Took them to gspca and 1st one had woken up a bit . Not sure whats wrong with them but hopefully they'll be fine and i can pick them up and release them back in our fields. They were big hedgies as well so not babies.
  23. There was a really bad fall yesterday and screens were put around the horse, does anyone know if it was ok? It happened not long after the cross country restated after two bad falls where the riders needed ambulances. Mary King had started but had to wait on course because of the injured horse but typically i cant remember who it was and cant find anything about it! Did anyone see the twit Clayton Fredericks take his horse at a canter over the huge drop so the poor bugger fell why do that when everyone else took it a gentle trot, cant stand the guy and this renforces it.
  24. Suzeanna, life expectancy means nothing. My mum has Parkinsons and was told that 12-15yrs would be her lot. She has now reached 20yrs and still going well, she has problems admittedly but is still driving us mad..despite the fact that she lives in France!
