BeadyP
So glad to hear the stitches are out. If he is going senile, there is a drug thats really good - the effects can be amazing. Spike

BeadyP
Damn, I knew you would ask that!! My Barney was on it , it has green writing on it, and I can not remember its name! I've just googled and seen something called Anipryl...dont think thats what we had....oh, just found what we used, Vivitonin. There seem to be a few different drugs nowadays. The vet should be able to help. Like many drugs, they dont work on all dogs, but when they do, its a good result. I hope the vet can help. Big hugs to Spike. Thanks for that, I shall see if he improves at all, this has only come on since his op, so we're hoping it won't last, but it's good to know there's something to ask the vet for, should we need to. buddyboy
Spike - your old mate Bud was on Vivitonin after he had acute vestibular syndrome, apparently it help get the blood flowing round the brain...... and you know he was always very mentally active!!!! Tried and tested tho in this case not for senility - that was me!!
LisaLQ
Sky had vivitonin also for vestibular episodes but it helped her cantankerous old ways too - she was much less dithery, odd and grumpy on it. It worked wonders for her, we were certain she was a little bit senile.
ReikiAnge
My holistic vet recommended Arnica to help with Sweetie's brain after her stroke(s) and also Aktivait, which was aimed at helping with old age, if that's any help The Aktivait we bought from our usual vets and you can also buy it online. I just added it to her food.
houndzrus
Thanks everyone, lots of good advice I was a bit shocked by it all because Spike wasn't like this before the op. The Skullcap and Valerian came yesterday and he only woke us up twice last night instead of the 6 to 8 times it been before. I will certainly think about these other options. Buddy was a very fast dog despite his illnesses.

That's good news I tried it for Sno for different reasons but am keeping him on it as I am sure it's really helped.
