  1. Erwine you hung in there to make sure your beloved Tara was safe. With your mission accomplished your weary body could fight more. We admire your courage. Be at peace.
  2. I'm so sorry to read this. What a shame Erwine couldn't have had longer with you. What you have done for him at the end is so kind Sweet dreams Erwine now the pain is gone.
  3. I remember it well - Cloud in one car crate, TJ coming on foster to me in the other side and a big hutch thing on my back seat!
  4. Maybe he just needs a bit of space - he's had an intense few days, travel, new people, new dogs, bath, vets, antibiotics, food that he's not used to.... Leaving Evan to chill a bit seemed to work for us.
  5. Hello Erwine Being a foster dog is fun Love Evan
  6. I've always had a soft spot for Becca. She is certainly looking very happy in her foster home.
  7. Sam looks so much better in the new photos - that's great! I've fostered "squidgy" and shapeless Border Collies in the past who have gone without exercise for some time - I've been shocked feeling their soft legs compared to my own dogs who have always had regular exercise. It's so rewarding though when they develop muscle tone, really start enjoying their exercise and are somehow rejuvenated.
  8. We have fostered well over 30 dogs in our time, mostly quite short-term. We have failed only once with Toffee which was over 5 years ago. It doesn't mean it is any easier for us to give them up, especially the ones that stay longer, but we know that having no more than 3 is right for us. Our fourth space is saved for fosters. We have to be totally resolute from the start that we just can't have any more. One of our main reasons is that we both work (partly different hours) and are assisted by a close friend who is our dogwalker. She has a dog of her own and coping with too many is just not fair to her. Our longest foster has been about 4 months. My heart has been broken time and time again but I know how much difference a foster home can make to a dog so somehow I manage to keep going. We are fostering for Wiccaweys now and are on our 6th visitor - the stunning but shy Evan. You can read about his progress and some of the joys of fostering on the Wiccaweys forum if you wish. Liz
  9. Hi Karen You will find a few familiar faces on here too! Liz
  10. One of the most famous oldies is the much missed Wiccaweys Grandad Brynn who was thought to be 22 when he died a couple of months ago. There was a feature on him in the last but one edition of Dogs Today. I'm sure Sarah from Wiccaweys will see your thread soon
  11. Hello & Welcome Carol and thanks again for doing that homecheck on behalf of Wiccaweys Can't wait until next June!
  12. Sorry to hear your news Cindy. I never met Tango but I did meet you & Snatch at the Asfordby show last year and that was enough for me to know how much love you have given Tango in the time she was with you. I hope Snatch isn't depressed for too long. Liz x
  13. Aloe Vera gel on top of the food. Essential to get a good quality one of sufficient strength. I've used Forever Living's version - this is really good to sooth irritable bowels. A (human) friend with IBS takes this daily & now has no further problems. Her dog which had an extreme seasonal allergy takes it too and no longer needs any steroids. The effect is not instant - several weeks are needed for the full benefit to be seen. Burns has some other varieties - a duck one, a venison one & a fish one I think. They also have a good help line for advice.
  14. One of our dogs has had a persistent problem with his ears. We find a little talc helps stop the bleeding, but I bet a forensic scientist would find tiny specks all over our house!
