  1. Hi guys, Hope you have a good time. We will not be joining you this year. I fouund it far too expensive last year and we are booked up with competitions for Cooper until Mid Oct now! Will however be seeing anyone going to the CMC do at end Sept. Hope to see LOTS of you there. That one is always on our calender of events. Have just got myself a new trailer tent - v.posh! & means lots more space for me and the dogs and any extras we get along the way. Just need to get a tow bar fitted now! My best mate towed it from coventry to my house last night for me bless him!
  2. I stayed at Claremont House in Woodhall Spa with my two before a Crossbreed and Mongrel show. Don't know Lincs that well so don't know how near it is to your event. It's a very friendly b&b and didn't charge for dogs last 2 times I stayed. Last time new owners had taken over and I went out to get some dinner and when we came back there was a note for Cooper & Trixie with a chew for them each. They said dog people should ask for room 6 if it is free and there is a low window they are happy to let the dogs in and out of like a dog flap to their garden. Clearly dog mad people. www.theclaremontguesthouse.co.uk (01526) 352000 Owners names are Allan & Isabel Pook
  3. Oh by the way thanks for link - scary how much they cost! PS were you wanting fleece or towelling? Not that it makes a difference to the price
  4. She could easily make them longer but would have to charge a couple of quid more as it uses more material. Think coming up the neck might be difficult for her without the dog in front of her to try on during the making. We have just made templates from rugs I have for mine and spares for the fosters. If I want something different then she waits until I go up there with Cooper and he gets chased round the house to try stuf on for her. PS sorry about the delay in reply internet been playing up in the cold weather. Not normally a problem.
  5. Hi Can't work out how to add myself so could you do it for me please Claire Powell Fosterer, Homechecker, Failed Foster to Princess Trixie & Mum to Cooper CW12 2AY. Would transport but generally seem to be busy when ever they are needed apart from the last leg of the fosters coming to me. As for camping weekend if it is the same place as last year we won't be making the trip as £20 a night for a very small tent is just ridiculous, nearly fell over last year when I checked in. & after now going on the CMC weekend which was really cheap with lots of piece and quiet and no horrible noisy kids charging round in the small hours of the morning I vote for combining the 2 together.
  6. Hurrah, glad you are going for this. I will be there anyway. Hopefully will qualify Cooper again for supreme champ again and maybe Trixie too. Will be looking to go from the Thurs this year I think. Last year was great very laid back no stressing and LOTS of fun. Most of the dogs were off lead a lot of the time (other than when the shows were actually on) last year too which all added to the relaxed atmosphere. And the weather seems to shine on the righteous there too and was glorious for the whole weekend last year. It's a fantastic club I am so glad I found it and I am as passionate about CMC as I am about Oldies so now I get to combine the 2! Can't wait
  7. Yes Kyle is staying too. They have gone down the their other daughter down south and it would bee too much for him with other dogs and all the little kids so he stays here instead of going to nasty kennels. Handy we only live in the next town. Mum & Dad were pleased to see him again too. Nothing changes with Ky makes himself right at home on the sofa straight away. Just a little rounder and quite deaf now but still very lively!
  8. Hello folks, I did try to post these pics on Christmas day but the forum was too busy eating it's christmas dinner and was offline. Always was a poser! They all had the same dinner as the humans. Homemade Carrot & Corriander soup to start (Kyle wasn't sure about that as it lacked meat and thought it could have been suspciously healthy so he said thank you for the taste and gave it Cooper to finish off). Then eventually came the Roast venison with potatoes, roasted vegatables and pigs in blankets! All thought this was the best meal they had ever had. Although I think a little princess over did it a bit and had to have another nap on Grandad's knee
  9. glad you like and it fits ok Thanks for posting the extra pics too

  14. Sorry life been rather hectic again. What with having to train my friend's friends lab who has come to stay breifly who has the worst manners ever to cross my doorstep, he has now passed his bronze good citizen, still a pain in the butt but no where near as bad as he was. Bought Trixie a canvas crate to give her somewher peaceful to sleep in the day when I'm out that he can't mither her in. Any waiting to hear when he goes back any day now. Told his owner he needs out now as Kyle is coming back from Christmas and he is far more important! We have had quite a trauma with Trixie. She then started taking the pain out on her feet and chewed one of the pads on her supposed good leg off so started walking on her bad leg sooner than she should. Had to wear a lampshade collar after trying everything else to stop her licking her feet before resorting to that. So that made her even more depressed. I think if dogs were capable of committing suicide she probably would have done. Collar now off again and new pills seem to have worked on her feet and they are healing nicely. Still giving her reiki regularly and she goes back to see James at the end of the week so see when she can start exercising again. She should cheer up a bit more then as she thinks she has been naughty and grounded as the boys go for walks without her. She's curled up with Cooper on the sofa now wrapped up in Kyle's old duvet.
  15. thanks guys, so far she's not gone bonkers yet, sure that bit will get more difficult as time goes on. I had just got her reasonably fit so it a lot more lively than when she arrived. It would be a lot worse if it was Cooper with this injury. I think at the mo she is enjoying the special meals she is getting the others aren't mainly cooked chicken with herbal remedies as well as her metacam and camamile tea is going down a treat. (probably because I make it with a spoonful of honey) She is also getting a light massage with a herbal essense oils mixed in and of course lots of love, cuddles & reiki, so pulling out all the stops for our little princess. My best friend is a whizz at knowing just the right natural remedy to use. Also thanks for the link to the dhn. they are very generous people, never knew that existed until today.
  16. Sorry only got old ones on computer from when she firat arrived. Not had camera out much lately. The cruciate that went is in her left hind. All 4 feet are sore as every one of her nails has been cut back and cortorised. But she is standing better already, the nails were ingrown when she arrived and were still as long as in this picture and pushing her toes all out of shape and looked unconfortable for her so seeing as she had to go under anyway I thought we might as well get them sorted as she has to resst up for the next few weeks anyway. She's quite happy to be handled even her bad leg so laying hands on is no problem. I tend to do it before we got to sleep as she sleeps in my arms these days.
  17. Hi guys I know there are a few of you out there that practice Reiki I have only done Reiki 1 so far and aim to go up to level 2 in the new year so worry mine is not very strong My poor little princess has been in the vets all day, and needs some comfort and healing over the next few weeks On Thursday afternoon I took all the dogs to the local playing fields to give the boys a run (I was looking after some friends dogs at the time as well - our lovely Kyle being one of them) and then planned to go on a long walk after that as Trixie was booked in to sit her silver good citizen award that night, so wanted to make sure she did her 2 min stay by wearing her out. Anyway we had only been there 10mins and I was going to do a few practice recalls and I called her back to me which she did but as on 3 legs (none of the the other dogs were anywhere near her so can't blame them) I checked her foot and nothing there and rubbed her leg better (works with Cooper) but still on 3 legs. Thinking she had just pulled a muscle I rested her for 24 hrs but no improvement so off we went to see Uncle James (our vet) friday evening. He decided she should rest on pain killers for a further few days and see if there was any improvement, supspecting cruciate ligament or dislocated kneecap and reassess today. Today still no improvement so she has been in the hospital all day for X-rays and tests. Resulting conclusion now that it is definately her cruciate that has gone. While she was under anesthetic she has also had her still horrendously over grown nails cut right back and cortorised so she also has sore feet. This may sound harsh but they were twisting her toes badly and never looked that comfortable to walk. Despite careful trimming since being in my care the quicks just haven't gone back at all. So it will be so much better for her in the long term. Anyway due to her small size weighing just over 5kg James is hoping to get her on the mend without surgery so she will just have to be rested and hope for the best and be reassessed in a fortnight. So those of you that can distance send reiki please can you spare a thought for my little poppet who thinks she has been bad as she doesn't get to go out with the boys anymore. and just has to stay at home. I have ordered her a canvas crate so she can come training with us and watch from her new den for a change of senery and will come in useful for all the shows we go to. I'll keep you posted PS for those of you wondering how the above mentioned Kyle is doing, He's not changed much, just gone deaf but still as lively and loveable as ever. Will also be staying with us for Christmas too which will be nice as Fran & Mike are going to their daughter's down south.
  18. tee hee welcome to the club!
  19. Hi Guys I'm back after a few login problems. I know this is very early notice but I think we have to reply by Christmas. Anyway the Crossbreed and Mongrel Club have offered to donate their Canine Cappers event entries to Oldies Club next year all we have to do is provide the man power to run the various rings on the day. Date 18th Sept 2010 Venue Top End Farm Campsite, Little Staunton, Bedfordshire time 10am - 4pm (ish) events include Fun dog show for all types of dogs pedigrees and crossbreeds together Stalls Fastest recall fastest retrieve agility fastest choc button eater fastest weaves hook-a-duck intellegence testing and possibly more So we need a person per ring to take entries and record times etc. Between myself and Shaun we have the main ring sorted, just need a bod on the gate to ring collecting the money. Also will need some people to run an oldies stall to let people know what we are all about Camping is very cheap only £5.50 per night for a tent on a large pitch a little extra for electric hook-up and the site is very dog friendly and nice and quiet. So even if you are not local you can come along for a fun weekend with your dog and lend a hand. For those of you who don't know about the crossbreed & mongrel Club please visit http://www.crossbreed-and-mongrel-club.org.uk/default.asp to find out more. I think I have briefly covered everything, Barb can correct me if I haven't ALSO COMING SOON: Doggy Dressing gowns are back - will post separate thread when I have time to upload the pics, now also available are dggy fleeces. Keep your eyes peeled for these they will make excellent Christmas Pressies And Details of Oldies Club's own Dog Show in up in Cheshire next summer..... need to confirm venue and dates.
  20. Oh didn't know there was an sub club to the Oldies, I'm in that too then! At least I opened up an extra foster space at mine before failing so still have room at the inn. Just been very busy entertaining perminant residents! Will let you know when (if ever) I have a free weekend to except a new lodger.... Off to BFA champs this weekend as of tomorrow. So more camping. Trixie rather likes camping as she can get in the sleeping bag and keep toastie, thinks it's even better after last weekend when I bought her a new carpet/rug for the gazebo!
  21. I see no-one managed to get a pic of Cooper in action! He was obviously to quick for you all
  22. Just finished packing the car. Managed to get everything in but have not sight out of the rear windscreen , anyway if I had a van I would only beable to see with wing mirrors so should be OK. Just need to pack some clothes now that can sit on the front seat and get some food first thing in the morning. I plan to set off at 9am but always run late! But I do also plan on droping by a NT property on the way to get full use out of my membership so should get there mid afternoon. I have managed to squeeze in the spare stock of doggy dressing gowns and fleece rugs! & a not pad to take more orders. Mum has had to buy a new sewing machine to keep up with demand (she did another project for my cousin and that broke it) so is raring to go again. Also have a little (very room taking up in the boot) for everyone to join in with too. (Amy knows about this). see you all soon happy camping folks.
  23. The only thing I have ever sold is the jute bags. I find merchandise pretty slow going on my stalls but get through plenty of leaflets when I run a stall
  24. Well my thoughts are with him and if I can help a new handler is he ends up anywhere near me. I am training to be a qualified behaviourist, just finding it hard to find time to get my final assignments in (it's an open ended distance learning course without a set deadline). Also I will be traing to give animal reiki soon so maybe if anyone else does that near merseyside they could pop round and give him a treatment I know how much it helps me calm down and I am very stressy person. But after having Kelly and Jess I want to be able to give it my foster dogs.
