  1. Morning Hope you're feeling better this morning Merledogs Glad your money arrived Jazz. I got mine from my mum earlier in the year and I'm using it to build an extension to make a downstairs toilet & shower. Because of my arthritic knees, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to get up & down the stairs. The builders are starting tomorrow
  2. Morning Not as cold this morning as I expected. It was very cold last night & I expected a hard frost this morning, but it's quite mild in comparison to last night I shall be off for a swim when the doglets have had their breakfast Loobie - if you can't go for a drink with your admirer, could you go out with him as part of a group on an informal night out type of thing? If you're lonely, you need to do something about it and having an admirer could solve your loneliness for a while. I'm no-one to give advice on relationships though, I've been mostly single for 27 years. I've had the odd relationship in that time, but prefer my own & the dogs company and at my age, that's not likely to change now Kittycat - you've been given some good advice on here. What goes on in a relationship, as long as the participants are happy with it, is nothing to do with outsiders. Owl - sorry to read about your mum, I hope she recovers well. Merledogs - I hope you managed to get some sleep.
  3. Morning Fugees It looks like it's going to be a nice day today, the sun is shining Sending to everyone feeling poorly, sad or confused this morning. I'm no good at multiple quotes and my memory is carp, so I can't remember who said what I hope the boiler gets fixed before the really bad weather starts without too much expense I hope poorly/injured/scared animals and humans are feeling better very soon Have a good day everyone, it's Friday
  4. Enjoy it while it lasts Goodness, where do you live?
  5. Good morning White rabbits (or whatever you say on the first of the month )
  6. Morning Hope everyone is safe & well. Sending to all who need them
  7. Morning Fugees I can't do quotes very well on here I hope Owl's mum continues to improve Jazz - look after yourself Snow - lovely blinds Congrats to Archie's Dog Walker, so glad they weren't up a mountain for the arrival Apologies to anyone I've forgotten. I will be back later but right now, my dogs are demanding breakfast.
  8. Good Morning Fugees It looks like a pleasant morning here, blue sky & quite mild. I shall be off for my swim shortly. I just did a reply with multiple quotes & everything, then the quotes all got mixed up & I couldn't remember who was who Anyway, sorry to read about Owl's mum, dementia is horrible, my mum had it I hope Snow's cold gets better soon ((hugs)) Yantan - I'm watching out for Archie Dog's first television series Jazz - ((hugs)) Merledogs - Retirement rocks
  9. Since giving up eating meat a few years ago, all I use mine for is rice pudding. It does make a lovely pud though. I use 1 litre of semi skimmed milk 3 tablespoons pudding rice 6 tablespoons sugar (I know, but I have a sweet tooth) (you can use less if you don't have my sugar addiction) Put everything in the slow cooker crock, put the crock into the microwave & heat on full for about 12 mins (until it just comes to the boil. Take it out, give it a stir, grate some nutmeg on top & put into the slow cooker, which you have switched on before starting. Leave it to cook for about 4 hours, stirring occasionally if you remember.
  10. The "coals" glow red when its on full, but I promise you, unless you are heating a huge room, you won't have it on full for very long. I must admit, I like to see the glowing coals, but it just gets too hot and its a waste of gas to have it on full just for appearance.
  11. Yes, mine are on normal Wagg now & they seem to be fine on it
  12. Good morning Fugees We have lovely clear blue sky here but it is extremely cold. It appears that we had a few snowflakes during the night that froze on impact. The bin lid is covered in frost & snowflakes but it is also frozen shut. Have a lovely day everyone
  13. Is it normal Wagg or Wagg Worker? I ask because I was feeding mine Wagg Worker until a few weeks ago & had a lot of behavioural problems with Betsy. I've been told it's a bit like blue Smarties and children
  14. Let's put it this way - if you're sitting in front of it & it's on full, you won't be sitting there for long. I tend to switch it on full for about 10-15 minutes, then turn it right down. It gives out an amazing amount of heat & being cast iron, it still gives out heat for about an hour after you switch it off. I love my Provence, it wasn't cheap, but it was worth every penny.
  15. So did she leave, or did you invite her in?
  16. which one have you got? Mine is the Calor Provence. Its coming up to its 5th winter now
  17. They do indeed Good morning Fugees It's very cold here (well, not where I am because I'm still in bed, snuggled under my duvet ) Yesterday evening, my gas bottle on the gas fire ran out and Betsy was cold, despite having the central heating on, so we had to come to bed early . She's now doing her "starving spaniel" act and getting Pansy to whine too, so I'd better get up & give them their breakfast. Have a good Friday everyone
  18. Thanks for the replies Switching to a raw diet isn't an option I'm afraid as I don't eat meat myself and would find handling it extremely distasteful (I know, I'm a wuss ) Maybe it is the B vitamins, I've no idea but whatever it is, her behaviour seems better on the normal Wagg food. She's not perfect (what dog is?) but she is definitely better than she was. Nothing in the house has been destroyed or even damaged in the last week or so . Here's hoping she keeps on improving, I do love her, but it's so annoying to find destruction every time I go out.
  19. Morning We appear to have slightly less murk this morning than the previous few days. There's even a hint of blue in the sky, but there is a very cold wind. Claire, I'm glad you've got a date for your op, is it a total knee replacement? I hope you get a sitter sorted soon Jacobean, good luck with Virgin. It reminds me of when I tried to cancel Mum's contract with Talk Talk, they just wouldn't cancel it until she died Merledogs, I hope the meeting goes well. I know the feeling about talking rubbish when you're nervous, I used to have the same problem when I was working. I called it Motormouth
  20. Well done you Poor little cav I watched it
  21. Morning Fugees Tis dull, damp, drizzly & misty here again Loo, I can confirm that Lhasa Apso doggies are gorgeous, there's one in our village & he is just scrummy Marion, I'm glad you got rid of your lodger, here's hoping she doesn't find her way back to you. I'm just drinking my first coffee of the day before getting up & making the dogs' breakfast. Hope everyone has a good day
  22. Suzeanna, sorry to read about your son, I hope he can sort out lots of contact with his son. How old is he? I'm awake early because I've got to get ready for Church. Once a month, our service is at 8am, so I have to set the alarm & get up early. The dogs have been out in the garden for a wee & it's a bit misty out there. As it's still dark, I can't tell yet what sort of day it is. Have a good Sunday everyone
  23. Up until recently I have been feeding my dogs Wagg Worker, partly because they like it, partly because they seemed to do well on it & partly because it's cheaper than a lot of others. (Worker is typically £11.50 for a 17kg bag, normal Wagg is about £9.50 for a 9kg bag) Anyway, I've been having behaviour problems with Betsy, she's been very destructive when I've gone out & left her. I don't leave her very much, perhaps an hour 3 days a week, occasionally 2 hours, but never more than that. Pansy is no bother at all, she just settles down & sleeps, it's just Betsy that's the problem. So, I tried switching food, & put them both on normal Wagg a couple or three weeks ago. I wondered if the Worker mix perhaps had too much protein, or too high calorie ratio, thus creating lots of energy. It's taken a few weeks, but I think Betsy is getting better. I've just been for a swim, I was out for about an hour & a half & she's been fine. She was ok yesterday when I went to do a bit of shopping too. Is it possible that the food is the solution? Or is she just growing up a bit & realising that knocking chairs over, eating CDs, candles, shoes & clothing is not the thing to do?
