  1. hope this is not too big i tried to resize it, its a piccie of mum she is now 89 and not very mobile, and speedy and peter sitting with her they were watching wimbledon at the time hoping for a tennis ball to come and hit them i think, speedy is the on on mums lap and peter is the one by the side of her, speedy has a tail but peter has had his docked whick is a shame and this is one of the boys on their own
  2. sorry i have not been around much but i lost the link to the forum, this was shortly after i had to have my darling poppy pts then i took in ziggy a yorkie from enfield rescue, he is adorable but does try to rule everyone, at the beginning speedy backed down but is now beginning to stand up to him, and they get on famously speedy is still trying to get peter as we have named ziggy to play at chase but poor peter does not seem to understand what speedy wants him to do but they often go upto each other and give doggy kisses they have to be fed separately as peter is food possessive but thats not a problem have a lovely christmas everyone
  3. my darling girl is now at rainbow bridge its with a heavy heart that she had to be put to sleep on tuesday afternoon, over the weekend she had shown her teeth to both mum and myself, i received a nip on the fingers from her and she went for speedy all of which was so out of character for her, so i phoned the vets on monday and one of them came to the house and after discussing what had happened and the fact that the vet also said that she had gone senile, was deaf and losing her sight had a cancer on the leg we all felt it was in her best interests to let her go so i got onto the floor and cuddled her while the vets nurst caressed her ears and the vet injected her so all 3 of us cuddled her and i was calling her a good girl, the nurse calling her a beautiful one, and the vet wishing her sweet dreams, she left us peacefully, quietly and with dignity but it hurts like hell, i know i did the right thing for her but the selfish side of me wants her back
  4. I know i have been missing for a while due to moving house but now i am having a terrible time trying to log in and staying logged in everytime i click new topic to post i get kicked out when i try to post replies i have to log in again should i try reregistering as its getting very frustrating
  5. i am covered in bruises and scratches where the lunatic dogs were jumping on me the poppy tried to get onto my lap where speedy was already so he started growling at her the next thing he jumped down hid behind my legs barking at her, after a couple of minutes of this poppy decided she would retaliate so she pushed the stool out of the way put her head level with his and barked at him then she chased him up and down the passage this from a dog just getting over an operation to remove a cancerous lump and heart trouble, mum has just told me that i have a lovely scratch on my cheek, well i feel like i have gone a round with mike tyson
  6. have just got back from the vets as they wanted to check on the wound and to get the news on the lump they removed its not good news as the lump was an agressive tumour and was huge, not the news i wanted to hear and that coming on top of having my bag stolen on the way there has made me feel very down in the dumps
  7. have no experience of lumps on lips so can't help there i'm afraid, but speedy did get a lump on his bum and it turned out to be a grass seed picked up in the local park so is it possible it could be that, with speedy it grew quite big in a matter of days hoping its nothing serious
  8. thanks everyone she is back home where she belongs, apparently the lump was huge, and i have to take her back on monday to have the stitches out and to get the results from the lab, at the moment she is on pain killers and anti biotics but its good to have her home
  9. over the weekend i noticed that the fatty tissue lump she had has changed in appearance and size plus she was trying to bite it and speedy kept licking at it, so took her to the vets who said it may have been a fatty tissue lump at the beginning but it isn't anymore, and its full of fluid and is becoming ulcerated, so they are going to remove it, obviously not a decision that has been taken lightly due to her heart problem and age but its the only thing we can do so now the waiting begins as i have to ring the vets later this afternoon for the outcome so please send her positive thoughts
  10. not doing too bad thanks, but heard yesterday that there is a delay on the house move as my buyers solicitor is way behind everyone else, my deposit is in place and my solicitor and my vendors solicitors are ready to go to completion but my buyers solicitor is still doing searches
  11. poppy was sick twice yesterday and lost control of her bladder plus she has started coughing again, so decided to take her to the vets this morning fully expecting to come back without her, am glad to say she is home where she belongs she has picked up a tummy bug and when she came home speedy was standing on his hind legs his front paws on her neck as if he was cuddling her then he started kissing her, and poppy the little tart stood there letting him
  12. the house seems very quiet without her but she is not a noisy dog in fact for some time we thought she could not bark, the hooligan is rushing around trying to find her, the groomer said she would get her back to us as soon as possible
  13. well i have joined too no getting away from me, so now i belong to 2 groups the other a crafting one, where am i going to find the time for all my addictions and do all the other things i have to do
  14. had to take poppy to the vets for a checkup and he is very pleased with the way the heart is and said that he could not feel any problems from when the anal gland was removed so am over the moon now
  15. thank you everyone your all very kind and helpful, but then i knew you would have the info that i needed i am very grateful for your support

  17. I am in Catford which is part of the Borough of Lewisham
  18. speedy will bark and get gobby with any black dog, others he is not bothered about, poppy as soon as she hears me move in the mornings rushes up the stairs jumps on top of me moaning and wanting a cuddle, speedy promptly hits her on top of the head.
  19. first great western have said that poppy and speedy can travel with us free but its just me worrying about managing looking after mum and them as well, that's my trouble i see problems before they happen
  20. i am hoping in the near future to be moving from london to swindon in wiltshire, i have a major problem in that i don't drive so therefore don't have a car, so would welcome some advice on how to get mum who is 88 this year and the 2 dogs to swindon, do you think that a cab would take 2 dogs as well as mum and me, mum is not terribly mobile either which adds to the problem. how would sending the dogs crated via train work as i have never ever done this so don't know what i would need to do, also don't know how poppy and speedy would react either. any advice would be gratefully received
  21. had to take poppy back to the vets this morning for a check to see how she is responding to the heart tablets, the news was fantastic, he was so pleased with her that he says he does not need to see her again until doing a review in november unless a problem occurs, i said that during the recent rain and cold she was very stiff so now she needs a daily cod liver oil capsule and glucosamine too, i can also now extend the walks gradually going a bit further, he still does not want her going to the park though and if possible keeping to flat areas, when i told him about her idea of a sedantary life style was different to mine he laughed and said so she is a lunatic springer after all, boy am i a happy bunny now, he reckons that even though she is 12 the way she has responded we could have her for quite a few years more and she will enjoy a good quality of life i am so relieved as a fortnight ago i was convinced that we would not have her for much longer
  22. muriel she is a rescue dog and will be 12 this year, we have had her 4 years this october and at least i can say i have given her lots of love in the time that we have had her and for the time still to come however long it may be
  23. had to take poppy to the vets yesterday for an xray as she has been panting and had an intermittant cough when i went to collect her the vet said that she had an enlarged heart and would need to be on medication for the rest of her life, she is no longer allowed to go to the park for off lead walks as it is considered too strenuous for her, all her walks are to be on lead and at am ambling pace, the vet said that he could not tell us how long she had it could be a couple of years or equally just a couple of months, he also said to keep her as quiet as possible which for a lunatic springer is very difficult as you can imagine i am feeling a bit down at the moment, but the one thing i do know is that for as long as I have her she will have lots of love and care
  24. aww thank goodness she is now safe and warm she is gorgeous, i also do yorkies and they are fantastic little dogs well done the street that looked after her they are all stars
