  1. Thanks folks. No Karen, she's had a masectomy so will be at least tonight.
  2. Ruby's out of surgery and back on the ward (in her room.) All went well 👍
  3. Did you leave some for others Jazz?
  4. So sorry about your son Eve. Hopefully the self employed will be included so they get some financial help. Ruby safely delivered to the hospital this morning. She has her own room and the op is scheduled for 11.30.
  5. Thank you all for the best wishes for Ruby. Much appreciated 👍😁
  6. The hospital has just rung. They want Ruby in first thing in the morning for her surgery. She's to go into the Carlisle hospital this afternoon to have dye injected so they can see the tumour.
  7. One of the dentists in my town has closed except for emergencies. I don't know about the others. Our medical centre is only doing phone appointments. If a doctor decides you need to be seen you have to go to a side entrance and ring to be admitted. They have a pharmacy and are only dispensing from a window to people standing outside. Your parasol sounds brilliant Owl. It was nice of the neighbours to pass it on to you 👍
  8. Eve you'll find out one way or another! Did you keep your distance during the visit? If you did that will lessen any exposure in case one of you are carrying it.
  9. There is a lot of bad feeling in my town towards the holiday cottage letting firms who are telling their customers "no refunds on cancellations. Either come here or lose the money". Let's face it, if people can afford a 2nd home and some of them have more than that, they can afford to take a hit for a few months from not letting them out. They often charge extortionate weekly rates anyway so they have been making good money off them in the past. Locals are helping tourists, who want to do the responsible thing and stay away, by putting pressure on the owners, letting agents and other accommodation providers to make refunds. The market square was packed with people yesterday. Not so many today but still a lot more just wandering around and paying no attention whatsoever to social distancing. They are walking past one another as normal, standing about in groups, passing each other in doorways. It's just unbelievable. They are buying everything up in our butchers, small grocery shops and our one big supermarket too. We do have a lot of responsible B&B's and hotels who have shut down and are on social media asking people to please not come here but there are those whose only care is for ££££'s. And this is happening all over the UK. What a sad state of affairs.
  10. Blackmagic it is so lovely to see you here again! We've all been worried about you and have been thinking about you too 💋👍 I totally sympathise with you over having stupid, irresponsible tourists visiting. There is growing bad feeling here in my lake district town about them being here. As you say this last week has shown how selfish some can be. That's a dilemma indeed as to whether you return home or stay where you can access things. Try and follow your gut feeling. Don't be a stranger. You have friends here who care about you 👍
  11. Ruby went to the hospital for her pre-op assessment on Tuesday gone and the few people coming in for appointments were all made to sit a metre apart in the waiting areas.
  12. We still have tourists coming here! The bloody holiday accomodation providers are encouraging them too ☹🤬🤬 We are taking note of the businesses who have been responsible and closed down either yesterday or before and we will shop/eat/otherwise give them our custom when we come out the other side of this. Ruby's been told although they still aim to do her surgery its starting to look dodgy. You can imagine how she feels about the idiots arriving here and possibly helping spread the virus or becoming ill whilst they are here. We only have 2 big hospitals for the whole county, which is why even in normal times patients frequently get referred to hospitals outside the county. OK rant over. And breathe.
  13. I sent mine this morning Alex. Did ya find it?
  14. Suzeanna you'd think his surgery would be urgent wouldn't you? They've known since early December about the aneurysms. The only thing we can think of is that it's a different situation, due to Coronovirus, in Newcastle where he has to go for the surgery. I've spent the last hour and a half trying to source and buy a 12kg of Wagg dry dog food for a local rescue. The last one I sent cost £11.50 delivered from Amazon last year. There's non on Amazon now other than from 3rd party sellers at a very inflated price. Other online pet suppliers are mostly sold out but I did finally manage to get a bag from Hyperdrug in Barnard Castle for £11.65 and delivery of £3.50 - which was very reasonable compared to others who where charging £5.99 for 12kg bags of any dry dog food.
  15. A very kind friend brought us a surprise emergency cake delivery earlier. She opened the front door, left them in front of the inner hall door, knocked and then ran out to the other side of the garden gate whilst we gave the thumbs up from the window. Her husband has 2 brain aneurysms and was due to go to Newcastle for surgery next week but it was called off today due to Covid-19. Wasn't that so unselfish to think of us in the midst of such disappointment?
  16. That's better news about your daughter Suzeanna. Hope she continues to improve. Alex do you want to add me on WhatsApp? I'll keep you company any time I can.
  17. The nurse had the results of the test we've been waiting for. Ruby does NOT need chemo pre surgery 👍
  18. Ruby's surgery is classed as urgent and the surgeon is determined to go ahead come hell or high water. Or Coronavirus. She'd only been in the house a matter of minutes before her breast care nurse rang. She's talking to her now.
  19. Great news on the latest mammogram Karen. I'm also on FB under a pseudonym to avoid certain family members and acquaintances. A couple of good buddies are in on it and we follow one another but other than that it's rescue and dog people. Ruby's appointment was 1.30 Eve so she's not back yet. The hospital is a 50'ish mile round trip Our Co-op delivers too if you go down and pick your own stuff. We don't use it because our loopy neighbour works there! Other than that we only have a Booths supermarket, plus Spa shops at the 2 garages and another small Spa shop in town. Oh and a tiny Mace convenience store and another independent corner shop.
  20. No worries Karen. I don't expect people to be asking about my ills! Still coughing and on the last day of antibiotics but hoping the next day or two will see an end to it. I so agree with you about the virus rumours. I saw on FB the other day a woman, who I have had a run in with before over posting things that just weren't true, posting that the cure for Covid-19 was to gargle with vinegar or salt water. If that worked don't they think bloody governments and health experts would be saying the same??? This is one of the many reasons I hate FB and came off it before. If it wasn't for wanting to support Tye's rescue I'd just give up on it again. I hope you are doing OK?
  21. Oh dear Owl. I cannot believe there are people who don't believe Coronovirus is real! How can people be so deluded, stupid and ignorant??? I too hate the racketeering going on. Some people are so selfish and greedy. Give me dogs over people any day of the week!
  22. Morning all. I hope everyone's doing OK? Ruby is off to the hospital for her pre-op today. They haven't cancelled it but whether or not her op will go ahead as planned is still to be determined. It's supposed to be on April 2nd. Last week I decided to book a Sainsbury delivery for this week. I don't usually to this until a couple of days before I want the shopping but am so glad I did book early. Since Sunday there is not one slot available with them for the next 3 weeks now! I managed to book one with Tesco for next week and the following week but whether by then they will still be delivering remains to be seen. If most of the items ordered for tomorrow arrive we can manage, if we have to, for 2 to 3 weeks on a fairly monotonous diet although we will have run out of milk and fresh fruit and veg after about a week. This is all starting to feel very surreal!
  23. Very sensible of Philip and you can't take chances with asthma or your cancer Suzeanna. I wish more people would be so responsible. We have a notice on the door asking delivery drivers to leave parcels in the porch and not ask for signatures if they are required. We then use a microbacterial cleaner on the door handles afterwards for everyone's safety. Ruby's not too happy about having to deal with not one but two people regarding her old company car. One is here right now. He's not taking it but has been checking it for damage. Someone else will come and pick it up later today. She's been on the doorstep for several minutes with this one. Oh and apparently they are charging £240 for the scratches on the wheels! She's had it 4 years of course it's going to have marks on it! It's probably really to cover the costs of this guy coming out. The company will get the bill.
  24. Eve I will let you know. I'm sure they'd appreciate it and as I know you from here I can vouch for you. They are trying to do this responsibly with regard to volunteer and user security.
  25. I'm in a group of rescue peeps that are trying to organising helpers, as nationwide as they can get, to help those who need to stay home. Shopping, dog walking, emergency fostering, getting pet food, picking up prescriptions. It's only started today but I'll let you know how it goes. Have they not given you the pneumonia vaccine Jazz?
