  1. They should have got the police on him and have him charged with assault Owl. I do hope your friend recovers with no lasting effects. Hope the harness helps with Cooper's pulling. I prefer harnesses over attaching leads to collars anyway whether or not the dog pulls.
  2. Just wondering how you are doing Nige? We are thinking of you
  3. 😂😂😂😂😂👍👍
  4. I'm sick of bloody theory conspirators. They are as thick as mince. They read something on the internet and accept it as truth They don't understand science and have zero critical thinking skills. Griff yes the winter flu does kill thousands every year but it doesn't spread like Covid-19 and we can vaccinate against it. I've been vaxed every year since 1989 and never caught it. There is no protection against C19. Although it is true for the majority of younger fit people if they get it it's likely to be a mild case at the same time they are the ones who can spread it if they don't stop and think about what they are doing. There are still a lot of young people who live with health conditions that mean C19 could be just as damaging to them as the very young and older more vulnerable people. The cases in the UK went up by almost 35% today over yesterday. You don't know you didn't catch it today as it would take a day or two before symptoms started showing. I bloody hope you didn't though!
  5. Thanks Suzeanna, great tip & I will if she gets some. We have a nice little tent here if you want to borrow it to give you some privacy when you set up home in reception. We also have a little gas stove so you can make yourself tea. Seriously I hope this guy can help you. Covid-19 certainly is serious as there is no vaccine for it as yet and there are thousands of people for whom it's a potential death sentence. I'd rather overreact to it and try & stay safe. There are a lot of stupid people in this world though and the I'm-all-right-Jack brigade are far too prevalent I'm afraid.
  6. It was Ruby"s last day in work yesterday. Her bosses have told her not to take any chances and stay home until after her op and recuperation. She'll do what work she can from home and dial in to any meetings. I've been diagnosed with a chest infection and am on antibiotics. I've to stay home until I feel better so Ruby and I are battening down the hatches. She has her pre-op assessment on Tuesday. I'm planning on going with her but will stay outside in the car. I hope everyone's keeping well and safe. Don't take chances folks!
  7. Thanks folks. Ruby was given a folder with loads of information about breast cancer in it plus a dedicated phone number to ring anytime she wants to ask something or otherwise get support. Although I am back on FB because of Tye I still dislike it and stick to just following a select group of animal rescues and the people involved with them. There's no way I'd want to put personal stuff on there so I'd prefer to keep with the forum as long as its still here.
  8. Bad news here today. It's been confirmed that Ruby has breast cancer. Surgery is scheduled for April 2nd.
  9. It looks like Nige has lost his beloved Cliffy 😥😥 There's a thread in Animal chat entitled Sad News.
  10. So, so sad 😥😥 Thanks for letting us know.
  11. Aw I am sending positive thoughts for both you and Cliffy. This us the worst part losing our cherished companions 😥
  12. That sounds like a way to spend a Saturday Alex. I'm glad Jac had a grand time. Very interesting on the DNA results. We had Archie's tested and that came back with all sorts. He was a one off! Oh heck Suzeanna. As you know we had a rat problem round here. I stopped feeding the birds and a neighbour put traps out and also got a couple of the blighters with his air rifle. Nobody has seen any more for about a year or so. We also decimated our garden taking out all the bushes where they could have hidden.
  13. My hands are getting dry from all the hand washing so I've had to order more hand cream. Will we be running out of water next with everyone washing their hands under running taps for longer than usual? 😱😂
  14. I totally understand Eve. When we tried to introduce a 3rd dog to our established twosome it did not work as Archie wasn't having it. In retrospect I think Archie did us a favour as 3 would have been too much for us. I admire you and Richard having 3 - and such lovelies at that 👍❤❤❤
  15. I'll confront anyone, especially if they aren't treating animals well. I also have a go at cyclists using the pavement when it's not a designated cycle path, cyclists ignoring cycle paths and slowing traffic down, ignoring cyclists dismount signs, oh and anything else in general where rules are broken. I cannot stop myself! I fully understand people avoiding confrontation, especially if they feel vulnerable, but it's just not in my DNA to let things go. My whole family are the same. Eve if ever you want to add to your fur family Tye's rescue home UK wide. They are sending a dog to The Outer Hebrides next week and even managed a home check! Speaking of Tye he has turned Mrs-I-don't-want-a-Staffie (Ruby) into someone who declared this morning "our next dog must be a Staffie and actually I think we should go back to having 2 dogs so look out for 2 Staffies when we are ready". Thank you Tye you have left a lovely legacy Griff I saw someone locally selling a USED bottle of antiseptic hand soap for £30 this morning - the sort you can get for a quid usually. I really hope it was a joke because otherwise is that what we've come too? Where is the great British Dunkirk spirit??
  16. Ruby's put in for a chargeback from her bank for our Flybe flights. The total was £127 so it's not a huge hit if we get nowt but we'd rather give it to charity than have it swallowed up like that. We are OK for toilet rolls as I always like to keep a few in the cupboard so no need to buy more. Friends of friends and friend's family members who work in management in both Sainsbury's and Tesco's are reporting that the stores in their areas (here in Cumbria and The Midlands) have no loo rolls left at all! We went to Gretna Gateway yesterday and I got some fabulous bargains in the Marks and Sparks & the Moulton Brown outlets. Is everyone keeping fit and well?
  17. What a crock Griff. You could report her to the Law Society or whichever thing is set up to govern solicitors. Suzeanna yes Ruby also had an ultrasound in addition to the 2 mammograms, one of those being with contrast dye. She did have a biopsy and has an appointment on Monday for the results. Flybe has collapsed. We were due to fly to Southampton with them. However at this rate we wouldn't be surprised if our sailing isn't cancelled anyway. Fortunately I always have hand cleanser in and we have 3 full bottles. In the absence of cleanser if you feel you need something get a bottle of isopropyl (rubbing alcohol at least 60%) whilst it's still available. It's a useful thing to have in at any time as it's a great all round cleaner anyway.
  18. Griff I think you need more than that so you can absolutely wipe the floor with them and put a stop to their careers of bullying people. Pair of nasty little %8^$£"* Tye's ashes have been delivered safely to his dad's family. Dawg we now have 2 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Carlisle where we were yesterday. One of them is employed at the very hospital we were in but has not been back to work since arriving home from an Italian holiday.
  19. As long as you got to know Owl as you were a help in the early days. I honestly didn't think it was going to be a happy ending so I am delighted. Griff if only money was no object! We are just back from our outing. Horror of horrors when we parked up in a garden centre car park. It was a sandstone hardcore surface and on our return we left muddy red footprints all over the footwells of the new car! I had a drive and I love it. I especially liked the parking camera as I have trouble looking over my shoulder to reverse so usually do it on mirrors. I was able to just watch the screen and did it perfectly on all 3 attemps into different spaces. I've told Ruby any time she wants to borrow Poppy Panda she can - if she leaves me Jaffa. I got a withering look by way of reply.
  20. The Mini Clubman might do Karen as its a lot bigger than the bog standard Mini. The Aircross is much bigger than the Picasso and is huge in comparison to a Honda Jazz. It is perfect for us old folks - very easy to get in and out of and plenty of room for dogs. Owl remember Teddy the little dog on the run near Appleby? They finally caught him on Monday night! He's injured his leg but is otherwise seems OK - or at leady that was the info I was given yesterday morning before he'd seen the vet. I'm sorry but with all the goings on yesterday I forgot to tell you. Ruby's off work this week so we are going out for a spin in the new car and no doubt finding a nice little eating hole for lunch.
  21. Karen she got the C3 Aircross. I was chatting to another customer who was picking up his 2nd Picasso, he loves them.
  22. Hi Alex 👋👋💋 Well we are none the wiser after the hospital visit. The specialist couldn't feel anything, a mammogram had them all scratching their heads. They decided to put contrast dye in and do another mammogram but nope, no one could say one way or another what was causing the "abnormality". So they did a biopsy and Ruby's to go to a different hospital on Monday for the results. Then we went up to pick her new car up. She had ordered one in burnt orange with a black roof but they would have to delay the pick-up to get one over from the factory in France. They told Ruby there was already one in burnt orange but with a white roof in the country. She wasn't too keen but agreed to take it. Well in between another dealer snapped it up so they've given her one without a contrast roof but its an upgraded model so she got it for the quoted price of her original choice. And it looks way nicer in the one colour!
  23. Suzeanna our trip starts 5th May. Fingers crossed we make it. Well thats reassuring about that lady being up and walking her dog and so nice of you to offer to help. The Citroen dealer rang to say Ruby's new car was ready to pick up so as its in Carlisle she's going for it after the hospital. We are therefore going in Poppy Panda as I flat out refuse to drive that awful Audi back. I did offer to drive the new one home but got told where to go 😂😂
  24. He sure did Griff and he was always so proud of himself when he did 😂😂 That's good news from the surveyor. Those miserable bullies next door won't be happy. They deserve to be brought to book for all the nastiness they've put your family through. Fingers firmly crossed for you!
  25. I hope your case is proved Griff. Tye's ashes have been picked up. I've ordered him a casket/box the same as George and Archie's for his collar and a few other "memory" things. I'm getting his name and dates engraved on it along with the legend "our wonderful sausage snatcher".
