  2. For those of you who don't know Rufus' story, here is the link- http://www.rykat.org/forums/index.php?show...c=13146&hl= Our lovely boy is in need of everyone's good thoughts please. He had a very small anaesthetic on Tuesday so that he could have a quick examination of his ear, which had been causing him some problems. Yesterday morning he had a 'funny turn' which the vet thought was either a small seizure or a mini stroke. We kept him at home quietly yesterday and all he did was to sleep lots. Food didn't interest him that much, which really worried us as he is normally a 'Dyson' labrador - eats everything. Took him back to the vets at lunchtime today and as he had a slight temperature it was decided to give him an injection of antibiotics and then a 10 day course of antibiotic tablets. Shortly after he had the injection he became very hyper, dashing round and round the surgery, and was generally acting very, very strangely. Nothing the vet, the nurse or I could do seemed to calm him. It has been decided to keep him in the hospital for observation this afternoon and to see how he progresses. We will get a phone all later on to update us. The vet is reluctant to sedate him as this might mask other symptoms. I feel like a nervous wreck now - that dog was not my usual bouncy, loveable boy - it was like a stranger. I am really scared in case there is something really bad happening to him. We love him so much and I just cannot contemplate anything being really wrong with him . Please send him positive thoughts for a speedy recovery and a positive outcome.

  19. Hi everyone Here are a couple of piccies of our gorgeous boy:
  20. Hi Just to introduce ourselves. I'm Val and my oh is Roger, living in North Wiltshire. We have just the one dog - Rufus - a six year old black labrador, who we look after, on a permanent basis, for Labrador Rescue South-East and Central. He came to live with us on December 27th last year. He had been staying at kennels for 8 months prior to moving to us for a forever home. He is wonderful company and we can't remember what life was like before we had him. He has had a bad start in life, suffering a painful leg injury, which was left untreated. This then required surgery when he was rescued, along with other surgery caused by the lack of treatment. He also has hip dysplasia. He never complains when his legs are giving him problems, he bounces around like a puppy and hates the restrictions that we have to impose on him to stop him hurting himself. BUT to us he is the best dog in the world - truly our wonderdog.
