  1. Yes it is heartbreaking but I don't think it's inappropriate to laugh. My Mum is slipping into the depths of dementia and some of her conversations are hilarious and I do laugh, I also cry at some of the things she says too. After a visit to my Mum, I leave with a headache, worried and feeling sick inside but at least I can leave. You have my admiration for living with this daily and retaining your sense of humour about it.
  2. A friend on fb posted this. 'There is an old Indian legend that says when a man dies he must cross a bridge into the afterlife. At the head of this bridge waits every animal that he encountered during his life time. The animals decide which of us can cross and which are turned away.' Would it not be wonderful? All those who abuse animals would stay in limbo forever or go downstairs if there is such a place. All those who kill animals for sport etc - would pay for what they have done.
  3. Waiting for the news that Bruce has been freed and will be able to live his life out in peace and safety.
  4. Love your dress Tobie - you look lovely and the cake - brilliant. Sam you scrub up very nicely but would like to have seen proof of the dress and crocless feet! Diane - well didn't take you long did it? Paddy looks nice - is he still in one piece? I was hoping to see lots more piccys - I hope people post more later but it looks a great party so I know I was not missed plus had I turned up in me special ensemble and stood anywhere near the lady in the orange dress - we would have clashed horribly. 5. Twas not for me - I use advocat for both cats and dogs. Someone asked me as they looked after a friends dog and seems after the dog went home - she had flea bites and her dog and cat have been scratching like mad. She use frontline on the dog - don't know what on the cat but she thinks her home is filled with fleas now. I told her to ask her vets advise and will now tell her not to use a fogger whoever it is made by. She also has a budgie. Thank you everyone.
  6. Or indeed do either work? Has anyone used a fogger? I have put it here as it seems to be for Dogs and cats. Is it comepletely safe? It also kills lots of other nasties - so they say. Anyone ever used it - if so which one? Thank you
  7. I honestly believe that the lack of respect for the emergency services, because that is what it is, is caused by the bleeding hearts with their liberal attitudes. 'Dont tell little johnny off for spitting at the police/fireman/doctor/nurse - he is just expressing his opinion etc'. Let the kids roam the streets at night - they have the right to be free etc. Then when johnny and those kids are grown and instead of spitting are throwing stones at the emergency services or worse - it's too late. I have seen cars totally ignore an emergency vehicle and refuse to get out of the way - it could mean life or death but they don't care. I must admit though over the last 20 odd years I have lost respect for many of the so called professionals, simply by having contact with them and finding them less than professional and certainly not caring. While waiting for an ambulancce to take my Mum back to the home I witnessed something that shocked me. The room was full, Mum was very uncomfortable on the hard chairs. A kind nurse went and got Mum a wheelchair that had cushions and apologised for the long wait. There was an elderly man with no legs who was very concerned about how long he had been waiting and was hungry. Same nurse was getting concerned about him. There were many others waiting - all needing to be taken home. Then the nurse said that the next ambulance was going to take Mum, the elderly man, a pregnant lady and a couple of others and they would be on their way in a few more minutes. Did not happen - why? because some 9 years old who had hurt his leg did not want to wait and was screaming the hospital down - his mother and the boy did not want to share an ambulance with 'old people' so he and his mother were taken before everyone else even though he was the last to come into the room. what has he learnt? Scream loud enough and everyone jumps for you - even hospital staff. And we wonder why they have no respect! Where once I looked up to doctors etc - I no longer do that as I see them differently nowdays.
  8. Of all the emergency services the ones who seem never to refuse or have the choioce of refusal to enter building as the fire brigade. They know every time they go out on a call - they could lose their own lives but as a friend who is a firefighter said ''I knew that when I started training - it's part of the job'.
  9. I just email President Obama - next will be Oprah winfrey depending on the reply from Obama.
  10. Saw this too late to sign the petition. Surely he is not going to be extradited? ffs the uk free people who kill hundreds and this poor sod embarassed the us and has to face up to 70 years in prison? I cannot believe this - has the world gone mad?
  11. Totally agree Billy. Jumping the queue for any reason is obnoxious to me but however imminent his death - others on the list, many of them children will also be under a death sentence and no -ne ca say for sure how long they have left. I do not have children but were he my son, the first time he got that drunk at that age (30 cans is greed) would have been the last.
  12. Thank you everyone and also for the emails. I willl pass on your advice.
  13. I put this in here as it is not just dogs or cats (both). I know the Cinnamon Trust is for Elderly and sick people and that the Dog's Trust help in domestic violence cases but suppose someone has to go to prison - is there any organisation out there who would take their pets in and care for them?
  14. I would report this to the police even though she doesn't have a number plate. At least then if anything happened with another woman, they would have this report on file. I would have been scared stupid.
  15. What about all the people on the transplant list who are on there because of liver failure that has nothing to do with drink? How would they feel if this person jumped the queue?
  16. That is so heartwarming. What a shame that instead of killing these dogs, we do not let them be the helpers and comforters than can be for children and peolle with special needs.
  17. Yes that is what I meant Ian - you put it so much better than I did.
  18. Most allergic reactions to animals can be treated and I can see no other reason for not allowing these dogs to be with their charges - I think it's wonderful.
  19. Thanks for that Angie. The owner of the puppy that was killed has bought a new puppy - no doubt with her thirty pieces of gold. I feel sick that this puppy was killed and the dogs concerned are still walking around unmuzzled and sometimes unleashed when other dogs who have done nothing wrong are being taken into police kennels and when they come out, it is obvious that they have been cruelly treated. Where is the fairness, where is the justice? I know that if the police ever came for any of my dogs for whatever reason, I would get them out and straight to my vets to be pts. They would die peacefully and wouldn't know it was the end. I would be with them. Better that than to suffer at the hands of the cruel bar*tards in the police kennels.
  20. I only meant for murders and child molesters to rot in prison whatever ails them. For all other crimes then I have no problem with release on compassionate grounds. btw did you send my some photos in an email? I am sure I saw one but them it disappeared.
  21. No I would feel the same about anyone who hurt someone I loved - I would want revenge -simple and if able I would like to administer it myself. But I see a very big difference in blowing up a plane and hitting someone over the head however hard. The poor man who got whacked over the head may have died a year later but could have survived - the people on that place and the people in the homes where it came down had no chance whatsoever and the bombers knew that. I see terrorism as a totally different act to any other crime. I am not defending biggs and co but to me, their crime pales in comparison to the acts of terrorists.
  22. Cracked it. I found 'windows address book' and that is perfect. Thank you Merlyone - looking for the office thingy sent me in the right direction. Cracked it. I found 'windows address book' and that is perfect. Thank you Merlyone - looking for the office thingy sent me in the right direction.
