  1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Get your head OUT of the books and boogie till your dizzy
  2. RMF When you ask for a quote for house/contents insurance on line, one of the things covered is "Domestic Staff Laibility" I spose thats in case the upstairs maid clocks a visiting lordship with a trouser press

  4. Duh. Senility is a wonderful thing:laugh: Corse I ment HBC. Aint Baxendale some sort of boiler
  5. Went to Exeter today. Twas a lovely drive, very eerie at first will mist lying in the valleys , all blue and haunted in the bright sun. Went to Clovelly yesterday - pronounced clove-elly apparently, not Clove-ly as I was saying it. Anyway it is a fantastic private village, cobbled streets and historical stuff but as we didn't get there till early afternoon and its an all day thing we didn't go in (cos you have to pay) but are going back to do the whole thing properly. Anyhoo, while we were there we noticed a helicopter in the corner of the car park but we couldn't get close to it 'cos it was all coned off but on seeing it was "Harrods Air" we got talking to the guy who was guarding it and apparently it was some film people come to look at the place. When he said "Tim Burton or someone" I got all excited and gave him a short lecture on the Tim Burton/Helen Baxendale/Johny Depp thingy so now he knows who Tim Burton is!! So, learned something - Harrods have a fleet of Helicopters for hire. Next time anyone is planning a hen night................ (beats a stretch limo)

  10. Not been on here for a while, well to post anyway. Had some really bad news at Christmas so have just been posting mundane drivel on FB and trying not to be miserable. Had a quick catch up on the threads so: Mommybear, I am VERY jealous and don't mind saying so. Can you let me know which room is going to be mine please? My daughter is sick with the flu bug thing at the moment and is coughing terribly! I have to 'try' and get docs appointment on a Monday morning as I think she has a chest infection too. She really is not well bless her. Just me to get it now. SD had swine flu, OH had man flu last week, I think I am going to fumigate the house! Sorry you are having such ahard time. Sending lots of don't let the flue bug bite thoughts. Hope your bad news is something you can deal with without too much anguish. With regards to "your room" JOIN THE QUEUE
  11. I'm guessing yuu live somewhere near Tiverton Scottish Winters. Er....um...let me think...do I miss them???? NO
  12. There's rather a lot, even though I took out the pump house, the various toilets and the bottom of the garagee!! Try not to fall asleep http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v186/Mommybear/Field%20Cottage/
  13. Well, here we are, a year on and ready to give notice on our rented cottage BECAUSE WE ARE BUYING A HOUSE!!!!!!! Its near Tiverton which is so convenient for so many places - five miles from bottom of M5 and an 45mins/1hr to either coast, half an hour from Exeter. You know how when you're looking for something and you just know when you find it? Its one of those (Do I still have to upload pics to the web to put them on here??) Three big bedrooms master ensuite, and one small (DB's Den) Family Bathroom, Huuuuuuuge 16'x16' breakfast/dining kitchen with electric Aga (not too sure about that - seems like just a fancy electric cooker to me) and underfloor heating. Sitting room with log burning stove; music room ! (MB's Den). Utility, and a small Office which I think we shall use for coats and boots and stuff. Huge double garage with electric doors and big habitable studio over. We turned down the 8 seater hot tub but fell in love with the exercise pool. Wat dat you say? Its a 3mx2m pool with a electric current NO thats daft -its has an electric motor which creates a current for you to swim against. and it sits in a wooden chalet type building at the top of the garden. No I'd never heard of them either. It seems the current owners are in business selling - guess what - hot tubs and exercise pools Heaven.
  14. Thanks Smirnoff. Am awaiting delivery of wax, smells and colours - perhaps I could do legs and backs on the side
  15. Awwww. I like happy endings (beginnings)
  16. What you need is a planisphere. This two rotating circles on which you dial up the date and time where you are and it will show you what its visible in the sky at that time. Obvioulsy they make these for different locations and this one is Canadian but works for UK (slightly better for Scotland than south of England) You can print it off and cut it out and assemble it yourself and if you like it any good stationers/book shop should have one. Phillips Plansiphere is probably the best but I am sure there are others. http://www.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/eng/education/astronomy/constellations/planisphere-2.html
  17. Am loving this thread. So many new authors to try. Agree about Robin Hobb. Great Stuff although I did find the Soldier Son Trilogy a bit strange at first. Oh and that reminds me - Terry Brooks Shannara series plus lots of his others.
  18. Just getting into it myself - well just melting down old candle stubs and blobs. i was looking at this http://www.amazon.co.uk/mastrad-Double-walled-chocolate-whistle/dp/B00457WYSU/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_2 cheaper than a double saucepan set and I have no "old pans " I can use. What do you think.
  19. Whatever happened to DP. Did she ever settle in UK?
  20. Fronts from christmas cards and/or stamps. I know I know I ask every year but never make a note of the details.
  21. Nice Toast Blackmagic Here's tae us Wha's like us Dam few 'n they're a' deed Any more ?
  22. Gave myself the new Stephen King for crimble. All read Meanwhile halfway through Song of Ice and Fire part 4. Not happy to learn that part 5 is not finished yet! I tend to have at least two books on the go, usually of two different genre. Fantasy, Horror, SF/ Judy Picolt, Norah Roberts (also writes as J D Robb), Richard North Patterson.. Currently "doing" Richard North Patterson. Next project - read all the Pern series again, (Ann McCaffrey).
  23. The Salvation Army welcome gifts of furniture. They will come around with a van and pick it up. Some things they cannot take such as upholstered furniture which does not meet fire regulations (mostly older stuff). We called them when we emptied Old Aunties flat last year. Give them a call. There are always people who advertise "houses emptied" but most of them practically charge you for doing it rather than paying what the furniture might be worth.
