  1. Ordering via VetUK benefits Wiccaweys :flowers:

Sorry I did try to edit but I think I ran out of time

Just to add that you need to link to VetUK via Wiccaweys main site so that they get the donation. It's in the Links section near the bottom :flowers:

  2. I don't usually use flea treatments on my cats or dogs as they don't usually get them. However, recently the cats have caught them and subsequently the dogs  I had some Frontline for cats in the cupboard so have done them but teh dogs need doing.

I am sure there was a link given for VetMedic (I think) which I have used previously which benefits rescues but I can't find it so if someone could post it, that would be great :flowers:

Also, has anybody used Program? It's in tablet form rather than pipette so would be easier to administer but just wondered if it was any good or not?

  3. I've had 3 rescue piggies since mid August. We got them from Wood Green Animal Shelter who advised that books by Peter Gurney are very good (we managed to get one out of the library or I would have sent it to you to borrow).

My GPs love cucumber, carrots with tops, spinach, parsley and red pepper (red is the best type as it has the most nutrition but wash all the seeds off). Lettuce can give them runny bums so is best avoided. Wood Green recommended Science Selective dry food but I accidently bought Excel Supa Guinea as their second bag which they seem to prefer. We were told to steer clear of Gerty Guinea pig food as the artificial colours can give them cystistis.

We use newspaper and a dried grass called Readigrass (it's a horse feed really). Sawdust and wood shavings can make breathing difficult.

  4. Havent got any formal qualifications at all but run a small book keeping service from home and work part time as a book keeper for a small company. If its working for yourself _ I can help (sort of)

Thank you :flowers: I found your post in the accounting thread and it sounds like you are doing very well.

  5. Hi

I seem to remember a thread some time ago about working from home where a couple of people said they were bookkeepers. I have just ordered my learning materials to do the AAT Bookkeeping Course and it would be good to get some idea of people's experiences in the field.

    Many Thanks

  6. shame he is having to rehome his dog,is there a contract between him and the Breeder?

Yes, his paperwork states that the dog can be returned if circumstances change but the breeder is also happy for a private rehome too.

    Here is Casper

Is there any thing that could be done to help him keep him/her??

    :flowers:

I think they have made up their minds to rehome. His wife never really wanted a dog and they have a new baby, he used to take Casper to work with him but now may need to get a new job where he cannot be taken.

  7. My brother is looking to rehome his 15 month old Rottweiler.

Hopefully, the breeder will be taking him back, however, my brother feels that he she is dragging her heels a bit and I was looking to get some names and contact details of Rottweiler rescues just in case he needs them.

    Thanks in advance

  8. well done every one

bit of a serious 5 minutes from me

I am no longer weighing myself as I can get obsessive ( 10 years ago I was underweight and very obsessive ) and I felt myself getting like that a few months back after I overheard someone saying I looked huge ( after telling me to my face I looked slim )

I suddenly found myself on the scales numerous times a day with a and I knew I was heading down a slippery path so I shoved the scales in the loft and took a break from the whole thing

I am back to eating sensbily and I know I have lost some weight as my jeans don't stay up :blush02: but I can't commit to weighing and updating as I really feel there is a thin line ( for me ) between dieting and an eating disorder and life if too short to obsess about my body image all day ( and I could if I did not watch myself )

soooo I am back in here looking for recipies for lovely real food and packed lunch type things

    Hi Sam

I'd still like to donate the £10 I pledged to Dogstar. Please can you send me the payment details as I Paypaled in the past but read you were having trouble

  9. I shop in tesco and I agree not as cheap as Aldi or Netto, but what I save on buying things with their clubcard vouchers more than makes up for this. The clubcard vouchers are worth 4x as much if you use them on deals rather than spend in store as they are only worth face value then. A few years ago we had a holiday on a narrowboat, worth over £1000, it didn't cost us a penny as we used clubcard vouchers! We have our car serviced & MOT'd each year at no cost as we use the vouchers. We have used them for meals out, Alton Towers, Drayton Manor, National Trust properties, hotels, etc, etc. The list is endless. Definitely worth it in my opinion. :)

I second this, we sailed to the Isle of Wight and back last month courtesy of Clubcard Deals - saved us almost £100. Have also had lots of nice day trips with them.

Just to add, Tesco have just reduced the length of service before you get your discount card to 6 months - I had to wait 12  Worth it for the 10% off everything they sell (including all the non food on Tesco Direct)

  10. Thank you very much everyone :GroupHug:

I have driven locally today - was going to go on my own but it made more sense for OH to come along (some heavy lifting was involved  ).

It was funny because I got in the car and was waiting for him to join me before I reversed off the drive - then I remembered that I don't legally have to have him accompanying me anymore so I did it on my own.

All in all I had a good drive except the bay park which would have cost me my 'pass' if I'd have done it that bad yesterday

  11. Thank you for your good luck wishes, I am pleased to say that I passed with full marks on the multiple choice part and 58/75 for the hazard perception part (I got a bit distracted during that part as a couple of the clips were filmed in the area that I am learning to drive and was I busy recognising all the shops, signs, etc - I also got disqualified on one clip for clicking too much :blush02: )

I have now booked my practical test for early June

  12. I am doing okay, have now started manoeuvres - have done turn in the road and reversing round the corner (to the left and right). I now need to do parallel parking and bay parking.

Also need to learn about crossroads and vehicle maintenance, oh and take (and hopefully pass) my theory and hazard perception test.

Must admit I think my progress would be an awful lot slower if I was learning to drive a manual (not that I have been super quick in an automatic mainly due to OH having to fit me in around his full time job).
